For now, I think: No and No . I'd be really surprised. FEC is OK as it is and vampires have been covered by LoN. I think that we are done with death actually. But given what we've got this year, I (absolutely) won't complain. I'm super happy.

I‘d be happy if they finally replaced the fugly old Vampire Knights with a new plastic kit. (LONG OVERDUE)

Do you mean it shreds one unit of 20 models? Have you even done the math? Where on earth are you getting these numbers?

The ballista is effective for it's points, but it does not need a large price increase. The comparison to Judicators isn't genuine - you need to factor in the cost of battleline tag, more range, more wounds, and being 5 models vs 1 for the purpose of capturing/holding objectives.

    Simple math. ~ 11.xy  dmg  + battleshock ~ 20 models gone.

at 3 ballistas + Ordinator they deal  >50%  more damage than judicators vs a 4+ save.

this feels just like the Aethervoid discussion...

facts win not the gut feel.

same goes for Sequitors which are a medium to high tier elite unit with the price of a low-tier elite unit which can also be taken as battleline.

Another point to keep in mind: statistical results usually get to their average result across numerous values. Which means: the more dice you roll the more average it gets with usual spikes up and down.

It isn‘t that unlikely to see one ballista hit 3 shots with 13+ hits of which 10 will do dmg, by just one ballista.

ofc there is the other case - I failed to ever hit with mine 2 turns in a row, but whatever it‘s only 100 points so I‘ll buy 2 more. (Once you can even think like that you know it‘s too cheap for what it does, since there doesn‘t Seem to be a better option)

2 Ballistas with Ordinator (340 points) do 7.77 wounds Vs 4+ on average.

2 units of 5 Judicators (320 points) do 5.9 wounds on average.

So the slightly more expensive option is a bit stronger. But it has less range and it's not battleline.

I can't see how Celestar Ballistas deserve to be 40 points more in the light of these numbers.

The difference grows bigger once you take 3 ballistas.

plus the deepstriking removes the whole argument of „only 18“ range“

It doesn't single handedly win the game. Its (in this scenario) 4 free attacks on a less than 1% chance. Idoneth Deepkin get to attack with their entire army first on turn 3 and its gauranteed and fair.

If 30 Grimghasts make the 10+ charge (or even twice) it‘s over because of the Range and the number of attacks. Couple that with all of our auras and you get a nice charge phase which slaughters 2/3rds of the enemy.

And there are even more examples.

The balista usage is extremly restrictive and doesn't allow a versatility needed for all the scenarii. It is deadly when placed and the oponent is in range. After a charge, no more balista.

And that‘s Different with archers? Don‘t let them be charged. No unit offers all the versatility you need for all scenarios.

the ballistas Deal about 11 wounds to a 4+ save, while archers for the same cost do about 5. Additionally you can thunder/teleport your ballista Batterie where you need them.

srsly trying to talk this artillery down is nonsense. It‘s way undercostet, period.

It's better than them only within 18". It's also extremely swingy and unreliable (1d6 hits can be great or poor).

The Lord Ordinator is hugely overpriced and pays through the nose to make Ballistas better.

1D6 Hits per hit is Never poor, especially with rend -2. the 18“ are never an issue just screen them, lean back and keep oneshotting.

the lord ordinator is fine for the immense buff he provides for artillery heavy lists. He should be renamed into rallynator though.

the 40pts ‚overpricing‘ Split by 3 ballistas makes a ballista 113 pts which is still WAY too cheap. It‘s too much firepower for too few points.

using the ordinator on 3 ballistas would make each score 2 hits at 18“ which would result 3*7 = 21* 4/6 = 14 wounds at -2 so don‘t even try to defend this undercosting.

Someone making 4 Waves of Terror in a turn is a statistical anomaly. Lots of other things in this game have the same long odds and aren't overpowered. Thats like saying Mourngul is overpowered because sometimes (re: almost never) it will roll those 8 attacks and hit EIGHT 6's and deal 16 mortal wounds. 4 Waves of Terror in a game is super lucky. In a turn it's a Unicorn.

Lots of other things have the same odds without singlehandedly winning a game if you roll a statistical anomaly.

The 10” charge procs about 17% of the time. It’s very very unlikely to happen more than once a turn.

Yes it hurts when you get it but you can go whole games without rolling a 10+.

If you have a player rolling consistently 10+ in tournaments I might just discretely check their dice or ask for their lottery numbers at the very least.

Its a gimmick and something you can’t build a list around

I‘ve got tabled at the start of turn 3. of 5 charges he made 4 waves of terror and got a double turn.

it‘s unlikely but it still happens and easily wins games since you can destroy entire units without them ever swinging back.

if it really is that rare it should be limited to one a turn without being game breaking. (I am a NH player myself.)

  9. Alright. We had a Tournament just now and the consensus is the following: The 10+ charge of NH is too strong - this rises to a rediculous Level once the NH player makes more than one 10+ charge per turn.

    We thought about:

how about a 1“ range and you get one attack per weapon.

There's nothing that wrong with the plastic Talisman dragon Imrik and Malekith's dragon are based on, it's the hideous metal heads, tails and hands(!) used to "upgrade" it, and Malekith himself standing out as the second worst special character sculpt GW have ever put out after Chaplin Lemartes (the first one).

Both kits were already grotesque when they came out in 6th edition, and it sucks that they were put front and centre of the photos in not one but two End Times books - alongside nice looking modern dragon kits no less!

Could they not have just killed both special characters off, or converted nicer looking models instead (or have just done with Imrik what they'd already done with Teclis and brought back his much nicer 4th ed Jes Goodwin mini instead of the revolting one that dropped with 6th)? ?

The old dragons are just ugly -> obese lizards with too long necks and too short wings and a big hand syndrome.

the new ones are just the same in plastic:

head too big, wings way too small, still looking obese, hands are okay...

I guess GW never released a dragon model that was actually good or cool if you look up alternative producers.

I actually started the army because I loved the look of the soul render and infiltration tactics. Soulscryer  + 30 thralls and a soul render seemed so cool on paper to deep strike, lol.

I think GW will update thralls at some point. At least I hope they do xD

    Pretty sure they won‘t xD

it‘s kind of sad that everyone only picks eels (well I got 3 of each for the style!). I can understand though that no one wants Reavers. They still never did anything for me.

  12. 19 minutes ago, Gose said:

I don't think that reavers are that bad the most annoying thing about them is that they are not Battleline without an isharann general.

Batallion are indeed bad, and DoK's too, but then they released nighthaunt that basically have all batallion playable, with a relative low cost (batallion const is pretty high but the units costs inside them is like 50% of ours).

I'm playing a lot against nighthaunt, and they can be really dangerous, they have tons o way to manipulate and use our very low bravery plus they play with a ton of command points and at least 3 artefact per list.

I believe every faction should have a easily accessible battalion so you get the deployment, cp and artifact bonus.

Daughters of Khaine have an amazing Battalion: Bloodwrack Sisterhood for 140pts =]

Slaughter Troop is okay as well.

The Battalions of LoN are okay. I mind though that all but one enforce a named character.

Nighthaunt Battalions are very thematic, strong and mostly easy to put together - I agree

    Again

    1) Reavers are good, they're not broken but have uses, they are awesome at guarding objectives and doing a lot of little stuff

    2) Most armies have useless battalions - what you're proposing is just giving powerful effects to units that you want to include and it doesn't work that way. Daughters of Khaine have bad battalions as well, Nurgle doesn't have much, Death isn't using many as well. I love how battalions are constructed in recent Battletomes.

    3) so what ? There are many units overpriced or underpriced in AoS. Sure Aspect of the Sea maybe is too expensive but on the other hand you got unit of 12 W, that's got bunch of attacks, flies 14'' and igonres rend for 140

    4) IDK are not shooting army

    5) many other armies lack them as well (DoK?)and still you got access to generic CA and Akhelian King and Volturnos have amazing CAs.

    1. my Reavers never did more than 2 wounds a game. And those wounds weren‘t at Range. They‘ve to prove themselfs to me yet :)

    2. So you argue it‘s perfectly fine to have utterly bad battalions because others have it (perhaps you realize yourself that Your reasoning is nonsense)

    3. AGAIN because others have the same issue doesn‘t make it okay: „ well about some million people have AIDS so it‘s ok if I get it too“ - same reasoning other topic.

    4. They‘re not shooting focused but they‘ve a lot of shooting.

    5. AGAIN: meme others have it so it has to be fine.

if you wonder why my response is a bit passive aggressive: it‘s because yours appeared Plainly aggressive and unnecessariliy rude.

  14. Imo the IDK are a cool looking and fun army to play.

the issues I see as a casual are the following:

    • Reavers are utterly useless. Their Missle Weapons do nothing, their melee also does nothing. They cost too much since all they can do is look real cool.

    • The Battalions are ******. Most need an Allopex (which costs too much and does too little). We‘d need simple battalions: Bat 1: Akhelian King, 2 Eels, 1 thrall (20 or more) ++1 Save for the Thralls if they‘re wholly within 12“ of the eels. Bat 2: 1-2 Allopex, Tidecaster, 1-2 Reavers. +1 to hit with missle weapons if the enemy is within 9“. Etc.

    • the EAotS costs too much

    • How about a range-focused conclave?

    • we lack command abilities

The black coach is huge, so the price is not really a surprise. Aventis is more than I  thought, but apparently if you build him you can also build a lord arcanum on foot, so it is not too bad. It is really the chainrasp price that surprises me. £25 for 10 easy build minis that are designed to be taken in hordes. If you take 3 max size units, you are talking £300 just for them.

Especially since they're the same models as in the starter box (as it seems). You're better off with ebay concerning them

  16. What do you guys think about the leaked pricing of the Black Coach and Aventis Firestrike? (115$ each) I hope it's a mistake and they meant AUD... otherwise I'll give those two a hard pass since I cannot afford them at all.

I'd love to see Darkoath and Beastmen mixed!
