I would go even deeper, something like the bug from the back where a beetle is carrying a whole caravan, but with the worms, as you posted. I like the worm theming for the desert and bugs are kind of the Sylvaneth thing:

Shu'gohl, or the crawling city is a city of sigmar in Ghur build on the back of a massive crawling worm. It featured in two black library novels so far.

Edit: That Roving Clans picture makes me want to do another run of Endless Legend.

Could something as simple as a health increase work?

As an example could a foot Megaboss sit comfortably at 10 health and not be op?

I doubt it will matter much. Small brawler heroes simply lack damage and means to apply this damage to enemies. Dying fast is the least of their problems.

The AOS rules simply aren't setup to make small brawler heroes shine.

  3. So there is this interesting disconnect regarding foot heroes. On one hand, players and designers don't want Herohammer. They want to have AoS be around units, and not heroes, which is a fair design constraint. On the other foot, foot heroes tend to have the most personality. They show up the most prominent in lore, and are often the most interesting to write/read about. (or just pick up to paint) They also are the choice where most customisation (rules, lore, your dudes) tend to happen.

So we end up with a type of unit that people want to be cool and good, but not good to overshadow regular units. I don't think this can be resolved under current or previewed rules.

Having infantry units give 4+ bodyguard to infantry heroes in their own regiment seems like a soft incentive they could implement without messing up a bunch of edge cases. But I suspect they will just leave it at Look Out, Sir! for now.

It saddens me if they keep trying to write rules around the situation they want to make, like the "unit attacks after hero attacks" special rule some heroes have, rather than doing something more simple that would make the situation they want.

Seems to me that either it gets focus fired or it gets ignored. Not really sure how you get out of that dilemma.

More to the point, I also think that if heroes were so good that you would never prioritize normal troops over them, people would be complaining about how hero hammer is too strong instead. Really, overall I think it's quite nice that normal troops are often the deciding factor, rather than heroes.

Which is why I was in favour of having basic heroes join units. Its much more in line with what both designers and players want out of it. Having the heroes seperate in AOS isn't the best setup when we don't want basic heroes to be able to take units on their own.

I don't know about you guys, but I am super excited to play 4th edition. Can't wait to see the warscrolls for my factions. What they have been doing for Stormcast is so good!

To be honest, my enthusiasm and interest is getting sapped with each reveal. I see the wall of coloured blocks and my brain just... shuts down. Its a style of information presentation that doesn't work for me.

    I don't get what that means :

Instead of allocating damage points to a model in a unit, damage points are now allocated to the unit as a whole. When the total of damage points allocated to a unit equals the Health characteristic of that unit, the commanding player removes a model from that unit, but they must stay in coherency.

If you have a 3 mini unit who each have 6 wounds, and I inflict 5 wounds, does that mean one mini has 1 wound and the others 6 ? Or the unit has 13/18 wounds ? Or he can split wounds between models, like all models lose 1 wound and 2 lose 2 ?

No, you allocate damage points to a unit, not models.

So the unit of Kroxigors who have 3 models and health 6. When inflicting damage, you put that damage in a pool on the unit. When the unit has 6 damage (equal to the health) you remove 1 of the Kroxigors, and clear the damage pool.

In practice, it will not change much from how you currently play. (except for some edge cases where you assigned damage to specific model and have to remove it or Mortal Wounds that target a specific model)

I just don't like their attendants. I'd love to keep 40K as much it's own thing as possible. Those attendants are 150% 40k nonsense.

I agree. Those attendants look like they walked out of the Ecclissarchy.

color choices could have been better, yeah, but the abilities also say what phases they're used in (if they're limited to particular phases) and have symbols representing those phases, so they're more clear than they were in the past even for those who can't see color at all.

The symbols are not for the phases, but to determine some kind of effect. (You can see this on Nagash as he has abilites that are in the hero phase but have different symbols)

Finally it's 4chan slash /tg/ and how often are leaks from there ever actually reliable? 1/10 times, if that?

  11. Underworlds is interesting as it fits more in the boxed boardgame space than the lifetime wargame space. It might be more popular under the non-wargaming crowds than others. As such, stopping producing it wouldn't be that weird as its mostly a "complete" line.

On the other hand, the rerelease of some old warbands with new cards recently is interesting. I doubt that action would have been taken if there are sunsetting plans.

Quite like how this is all presented. Nice how it seems to fit into the whole approach although I think anybody who is colour blind may struggle if the symbols for the phases are too small.

Now what is Power? It's mentioned on Nagash's scroll when he takes 10 or more damage points, but I can't spot any other reference to it? Is it to do with the control stat? I assume not as it would say so!

EDIT - it's possible that like with 40K reveals, we aren't quite seeing everything?

Power Level is probably number in brackets of the Wizard keyword. In this case Wizard (9).

What it does has to do with the magic module I guess.

I just read the Warhammer Community article and from what I understand it seems that the Beasts of Chaos faction will disappear from Age of Sigmar to go to the Old World. Am I right or have I misunderstood.

    You are correct.

    Until they are !

On long term, be sure they will be replaced in turn. Malerion's shadow army will be the new pointy eared taste of dark !

I have been hearing wishlist rumours for Malerion for the past 8 years or so. I'll believe it when I see them.

    That's:

    1) Epic hero

    2) an Underworlds warband that now we know is going to be shot by the Legends canon at some moment

Priest on Plague Furnace is a hero, and that one isn't listed in the squatting list.
