Am i the only one that likes delfs in CoS? Give me more shadowblades and scourge privateers please!

I think delfs in CoS are great, especially Scourge Privateers. I really hope they expand on the privateer theme and dont let it die off. The Privateers also got a lot of representation in lore.

Yeah, I can understand this. I don't think all of the Delf stuff would fit, but definitely the Executioners (Might just be I'm a sucker for them.) I think there is space for them with Har Kuron and now Krethusa's rebellion/recruitment. In lieu of waiting for a range expansion

I completely understand where you are coming from. I just hope that they explore a new design space for Krethusa's side of things.

That being said I would really enjoy a Executioner style unit reimagined as heavy infantery for the Khainite side. I am just not sure what niche it would fill alongside the snakes, which already are killy elite infantery.

  3. Just chiming in to say that I am not a fan of the idea of souping the Daughters with all the CoS Delves simply for the reason that they are Delves.

I feel like if something like this was intended, the opportunity to implement this would have been the "liberation" of Anvilgard imo. Of course this doesn't mean it wouldn't happen now if GW wanted to do it.

That being said I also don't like the idea of a combined tome of Morathi and Malerion elves. It will probably happen to reduce the number of elven factions, but I still don't like it 🤣

  4. I've just been brainstorming for a little bit and I think I might just use her as a utility piece in a normal DoK army.

I am a little undecided on her army of renown. Most of the abilities you gain seem to be at least decent and some are pretty awesome. Only the heroic action and the related artifact seem to be quite bad. On the other hand you are losing a lot for not going straight temples.

I feel with the Croneseer's Pariahs you'd want to field at least two cauldrons.

Big blocks of Witches supported by Gladiatrixes will still put out a lot of hurt, barely lose any precision and will also be more durable once you get the Cauldron buff up. SoS will feel the missing of the to hit/to wound buffs from Blood Rites a little bit more, but with their 6" pile in you can even get more tricky with the off sequence moves, e.g. some nice "charges" in the enemies turn.

Small units of Doomfires will probably be needed to offer magical support and can be pretty good objective grabbers with Krethusas abilities.

Not sure about Shadowstalkers. They would of course be stand ins for the Khinerai for back field objective grabbers, but maybe with the additional movement of the Pariahs Doomfires could play this role as well.

Overall I think the Pariahs lose raw offensive power in exhange for movement and control elements. At least on Paper that sounds intriguing. If it is worth the trade of remains to be seen.

Just a few early morning thoughts :D....

  5. Absolutely in love with the croneseer! Would not have expected to see new models for the beloved murder elves so soon.

I agree with @Neverchosen that this opens a new interesting design space for Daughters. I also like the implications on Daughters lore. It was already foreshadowed, but now we know that the followers of Morai Heg are back. Gives more rebellous forces a new god to flock (he he) to.

Only downside is the box Krethusa comes in. Well enough time to paint my remaining DoK models until she is released solo :D

  6. Just a quick question: Am I missing something or does a Bloodwrack Medusa general not unlock Melusai as battleline anymore. Because despite having an ability called Melusai Kin, she does not have the Melusai keyword (at least in the app).

Would be a real letdown 😕. Kind of understandable if they wanted to make Zainthar Kai more relevant, but a letdown nonetheless.

  7. I think the list proposed by @FleetAdmiral seems to be a good starting point for you, based on what you wrote here.

    1. It includes Morathi.
    2. It includes a solid core of usable units and heroes.
    3. The start collecting box and Shadow & Pain build nicely into it, giving you some additional Khinerai.
    4. It includes some Blood Stalkers so you can easily go up to 15, if you ever decide to go full Morathi-Stalker combo (but expect this to be nerved come next GHB).
    5. It can pontentially be played with different temples (Hagg Nar, Zainthar Kai, Khailebron, Khelt Nar).
    6. You can easily adapt it to your needs and likings. For example, you could exange the Ironscale for a priest to get access to prayers (e.g. Hag Queen on foot, which comes with the start collecting box, if you build a Bloodwrack Shrine) or you could swap a unit of Bloodsisters for 20 Witch Aelves/Sisters of Slaughter if you want to field some of those.

As has been said before, most of our units are in a good place at the moment, so there is a lot of variation in playable lists. If you need more inspiration on possible list compositions just look at our temple threads, which for example feature @Chumphammer's creations, or check online ressources like The Honest Wargamer, tournament results or battle reports. Regarding battle reports, of the top of my head Season of War and Wargamer Online do have some 3rd edition battle reports featuring the daughters.

I'm not sure about Idoneth falling into Malerion's lot. It would make sense right now, but Idoneth are the sole allies for Lumineth, so maybe they'll throw them together.

Good point. Some Idoneth also don't seem to be too happy about their alliance with the DoK if the Broken Realms short story is anything to go by.

  9. While I really hope that this is not happening, I fear we will at least be souped with Malerion, if his aelves are ever released. Not so sure about Idoneth, but it would make sense as part of an Umbraneth (or whatever they might call it) alliance.

I don't like the idea of souping at all, but sadly it seems logical for GW to do so. If not to reduce the number of aelven factions, then to reduce the overall number of order factions.

But for now we can only wait and see. I mean as of now even the dwarven soup tome is still only a rumor.

What is the opinion around regarding allied Eels? While Ishlaen Guards seem to offer a nice punch I also see huge use for Morsar Guards as fast objective grabbers/contesters. Anyone having some experience?

Sadly I don't have any experience using Idoneth allies. I feel like this might have been discussed over in the DoK AoS 2 thread, but maybe I am misremembering...

Today's rumour engine is looking kinda Khainite.

    WHxWAzGg0Y2jg0jq.jpg.d199a766b27ff886e59c7ff82d5aba6b.jpg

Certainly that's the same drippy blood they used for the DoK endless spells, and the blades are pretty similar to the cauldron avatar.  Of course drippy blood and spikes are pretty common across the various ranges, could easily be a new 40k avatar of khaine, or dark eldar, or even Khorne/soulblight, or potentially Malerion stuff if they're sharing design elements with DoK, but khainite is where my mind went first.

I think you are right concerning the aesthatics of the rumor engine, but I don't think that we will receive any new models soon. With the recent update of our battletome and the Warcry and Underworlds warbands, I feel like we are in for a long wait until GW blesses us with news again. So in my opinion this rumor will either be far off or belong to some other aelvish or aeldari faction.

That being said, I would love a new model for the avatar of Khaine (or Morathi-Khaine) on foot 😍. GW pls!

  11. I guess it's hard to give advice on competetive lists at the moment, since everybody still needs to figure out 3.0. That being said, there is still a lot of talk about Morathi and 15 Blood Stalkers, but as discussed 1 or 2 pages earlier this setup might be to expensive to be the way to go. I think it will be dependent on the meta if 15 Blood Stalkers will be good.

Looking at your list, I think you are doing fine for a first shot. A few notes:

    1. At the moment you are not fielding a priest. This means you are missing out on our great prayers as well as the chance to unbind invocations. I would remove the Melusai Ironscale for a Hag Queen. Your list also includes a Bloodwrack Medusa so Blood Stalkers and Blood Sisters are battleline anyways. This means all the Ironscale will do is allowing your Blood Sisters to run and charge, which is an awesome ability, but not worth missing out on prayers in my opinion.
    2. You could think about replacing your Khinerai Heartrenders with Khainite Shadowstalkers. Both fulfill a similar role on the battlefield, but I feel like Shadowstalkers are more versatile while also being more resilient.
    3. If you are in a meta where it's hard to get the Bloodwrack Viper off you could also replace it with another Hag Queen. With the changes suggested above this would bring you to exactly 2000 points. Another possibility would be to keep the Heartrenders and replace the Viper with Shadowstalkers or upping your Sisters of Slaugher to 30 girls.

Your list, even with the suggested changes, could be played as Battle Regiment + Warlord/Command Entourage depending on wether you value lower drops or 1 CP more, which is a good start I guess.

EDIT: Nevermind. It is a Bloodwrack Medusa not a Bloodwrack Shrine so Warlord/Command Entourage cant be used 😔

Is it me or we can summon a Heart of Fury each turn ? If we’re lucky with rolls we can have, for exemple, 3 Heart of Fury on the table by turn 3?

it’s said that we can only try to summon one per turn and we must have a model available that is not already on the battlefield. Am I reading this right ?

Would that not be prevented by it being unique?

Alright, snake list attempt 2, because i can't help myself.

    zainthar Kai

    Morathi mindrazor

    Medusa-general-shadowstone-shroud of despair

    ironscale-crown of woe

    15 blood sisters

    10 blood sisters

    5 blood sisters

    5 blood stalkers

    Vyperic guard

Interesting list. Really looking forward to your experiences playing  it.

Sadly from what I have read here and seen from the new book, I feel like the, lets call it interesting, design of crystal touch forces us even more into the typical playstyle of Hag Narr, Hags and Cauldron for two reasons:

    1. Crystal touch being at the end of combat forces us to protect our snakes as good as possible to get the most out of it. Therefore we need to buff their defense as much as possible.

    2. Due to the damage of crytal touch missing more enemy models are going to strike back, leading to more losses and an increased importance of the battleshock phase.

That being said, one other approach could be focussing on their normal attack, buffing it up as much as possible and more or less ignore crystal touch or just use it as a bonus to remove remaining wounds/models. I feel like your list might be able to pull this style off, as long as there is no always fights first or heavy shooting involved, as you noted yourself. There is lots of synergy in this list between Blood Sisters, Morathi, Ironscale, Cobra Kai, Vyperic Guard, Mindrazor and Shroud of Despair and I like it. However it remains quite fragile. Really interested in seeing how it works for you on the table.

  14. I just finished my first kitbash since years. It is nothing too complicated, but I am still pretty proud of it 😁. May I present to you, my new Slaughter Queen!

    706248924_Prsentation1.png.3b305cfe156c484f80fa7238bbb82d76.png

It is something I have been planning to do for a long time now, because I never really liked the original GW model. Its outfit and stance make it look more like someone leading a ritual, but I wanted my Slaughter Queen to look more like a warrior. The idea has gone through multiple iterations at this point. At first, I just thought about using the original model and changing arms and head, but this never left me quite satisfied.
Then I saw someone doing a conversion with Yvraine, which sparked the idea that i wanted my Queen to be walking menacingly towards the enemy. So I bought the model, decided that I needed to get rid of her dress, her corset and all of the eldar markings, realised that there wouldn't be much left of the original model once I'm done as well as how much sculpting I would need to do to make it work and binned the idea 😅. Besides the model is so big, even without the dress, that it wouldn't even fit on a 25 mm base.
My next idea was to use the Genestealer Magus as a base for the conversion. It also has the basic pose I wanted for my Slaugther Queen, but would need much less work to make it look more like a Daughter of Khaine. I was still planning on how to do the conversion, when Morgwaeth's Blade-coven was announced. The announcement left me quite hyped. There it was. A stunning model, which looked close to what I wanted to do and it was already a Daughters of Khaine model. So while waiting for the warband to be released I thought of multiple ways to change Morgwaeth's arms to make her look more like a wanted and less like Morgwaeth, just in case I wanted to use the original model, too. Once the box arrived, I realised three things:

    1. The way the parts were build up the conversions I planned were much harder to do than I thought.
    2. I didn't like Morgwaeth as much as I thought, especially her hair.
    3. If I combined Morgwaeth and Kyrssa I would get a model looking really close to what I had imagined.

So this is what I went with and what you can see in the picture above. Once some additional tools arrive, I am going to start smoothing some of the green stuff areas and call it a day. I can't wait to get this bad girl painted (which won't happen before I painted another set of 10 Witch Elves 🤢). Of course, I am also doing a similar conversion on a Cauldron of Blood, to make her actually useable on the table top 😉.
