It is difficult to put Kragnos, I try to cut points in many places and in the end it cannot be everything, I made a modification based on your advice

    Wounds: 90

That looks like it could be pretty brutal tbf mate. You should have a good chance to clear a lot of screens with that, leaving room for Kragnos to go and get the job done.

If I didn't already have far too many Ogor models to play with, I'd look at making this list work!

Glad you liked it mate!  Check out @Nezzhil's Bloodgullets list up above too, it's a good un.

    Caught it, very interesting.

Looking forward to sucking more but very occasionally blowing something up on the charge 🤷‍♂️

I like the list, this weekend I wanted to test Kragnos and I thought it would be a good option to protect him with Underguts

0 synergy and the gluttons would also be alone ...
I do not include any battalion preparing for 3.0

In the future I will test your list

It's heartbreaking to use that list without a battalion to get gruesome trophy rack 🥺

I'm looking forward to having a play with it once I've stopped doing tourney prep

  4. I play in London, so I'm lucky in that the local meta is really whatever you want to face, but I'm looking forward to using some models I rarely do in conjunction with him in my ogre army.

Loved the article @PlasticCraic, so stole those ideas to run in bloodgullet.

    Currently leaning towards this:

Kragnos [an amount I'd rather forget]

    Butcher [140pts]

    2. Blood Feast, 5. Grease-smeared Tusks, 6. Greasy Deluge

    Frostlord on Stonehorn [400pts]

     0. Nice Drop of the Red Stuff!, 0. Splatter-cleaver, 1. Black Clatterhorn, General

    3 Ogor Gluttons [120pts]

    3 Ogor Gluttons [120pts]

    3 Ogor Gluttons [120pts]

    2 Frost Sabres [40pts]

    2 Frost Sabres [40pts]

    Icebrow Hunter [120pts]

No you are sadly correct. These auto-mechanic stunts that GW are pulling with these two in particular are just poor rule writing. Armies like nighthaunt suffer disproportionately from these kind of mechanics because 1 - the support heroes keep the army together and 2- our heroes are pretty squishy despite the un-rendable save and the 6+ feel no pain. I guess it goes for most death factions.

Comets call (i think this is the infinite range lots of MW one) is a really poor mechanic for the game in general. You can hide Kroak out of sight and murder. It's just silly. I haven't come up against Teclis yet but i assume its similar?

Luckily neither have I, on TTS it's mainly DoK and tzeentch I'm playing right now, but I can't bring myself to use high model count armies on that platform 🤦‍♂️ but yes, Teclis and Kroak do seem to kind of nullify the squishy hero build in short order. Beauty of playing friendly games for the most part though is avoiding that I guess

To add to this, remember your support heroes and what they do. A guardian of souls and a spirit torment together supporting your main units is big. Rerolling hits of 1 and +1 to wound from these heroes can really be useful. Nighthaunt in general lacks rending weapons so maximising wounds going through is big.

Always remember to protect the heroes. Like in any death faction, heroes hold the army together.

In the Kroak/Teclis world, is there much you can do about protecting them?

At first - choose your direction.

If you are fond of endless tides of ghostly flesh - Legion Of Grief is your choice.

If you are fond of rapid strikes from above and tactical shenanigans - go to NightHaunt allegiance.

If you wanna go to Legion Of Grief:

    1) Necromancer - must have for his unique spell Dance Macabre, which makes unit fight twice. Reapers, who fights twice - glorious

    2) Another 4 banshees - they are great in maximum count

And you are ready to fight at 2000pts!

    Necro

    Knight of Shrouds

    Guardian of Souls

    Spirit Torment

    Dreadblade Harrow as general

    40x rasps

    2x20 rasps

    30 reapers

    12 banshees

If you wanna go to Nighthaunts:

    1) Lady Olinder - our lady of grief, our mortal spam, our mighty hero. One of the most beautiful models entire AoS.

    2) Vampire Lord as ally - for additional attack and revive

    3) Hexwratihs for Dolorios guard batallion - to keep our Lady bold

    4) Reikenor + Chonomatic Cogs - to make underword strikes much more accurate and deadly

    Something like that:

    Knight of Shrouds

    Guardian of Souls

    Spirit Torment

    Olinder

    Reikenor

    40x rasps

    6x Spirit Hosts

    30 reapers

    12 banshees

    Chronomatic Cogs

These two lists are both incredible convenient as they're full of models I bloody love!

I imagine I'll start with the necro so I have an army ready for post lockdown, and build towards the second one as I love Lady Olinder ❤️

    Thanks for the help!!!

  8. Hi all. I recently traded my Maggotkin for a nighthaunt force and would really appreciate some direction on where to go with them for a semi competitive list.

    2 Knight of Shrouds
    2 Guardian of Souls
    2 Dreadblade Harrows
    2 Spirit Torment
    2 x 40 Chainrasps
    30 Grimghast Reapers
    6 Spirit Hosts
    8 Banshees

I'd like to keep the chainrasp in the list as I've never played with a horde army so this would be my chance to try something different.

    Thanks!

  9. As I'm clearing through my Ogre Pile of Shame, I'm considering moving to CoS next.
I want to go full human, with plenty of blackpowder and Greatswords ideally. Basically full Empire vibe if possible.
Could anyone give me some pointers of City and lists to build towards so I'm spending money in the right places?
I don't mind being competitive or not, just ideally not getting blown apart every time I put my models down on the table...

    Cheers all!

I play against Fyreslayers loads.  The only real weak spot they have is if they do not have a Runelord ally, or something similar, then they are susceptible to magic. I never fight them without the Geminids and Aethervoid Pendulum.

Next, never engage HGBs in a fight if they have any heroes still on the battlefield. They simply will not die and will obliterate any units you have, even PBs with -2 to hit from LoB. Play the objectives, use summoning to get units where your opponent is not.

And if you play Duality of Death and he can out drop you, don't even bother taking your models out of their cases.

So he doesn't have a runelord, hence the three casters and GUO getting up to +2, but I'm worried I'm not optimising the spells I'm using. Unfortunately I don't have any endless spells other than a Wildfire Taurus which I guess could be quite useful if I got an ally great bray shaman.

  11. I'm finding taking the battalions an issue because it has to be Huskards to count towards the min requirements.

I haven't got the full list or details mapped out yet, but I'm trying to make a BD list with FLoSH, HoSH and HoTT work, getting the most out of the free mount traits.

I don't find that the other relics are so good that there worth paying 140 points for a battalion, when points are at a premium already in BCR lists.

    How about:

    Allegiance: Nurgle

    Leaders
    Harbinger of Decay (160)
    Gutrot Spume (140)

    Battleline
    10 x Putrid Blightkings (320)
    10 x Putrid Blightkings (320)

    Units
    3 x Plague Drones (200)
    1 x Beasts of Nurgle (80)

    Total: 1220 / 1250
    Extra Command Points: 0
    Allies: 0 / 200
    Wounds: 116

Good shot at a triumph. Could split one of the units of kings into 2x 5 in order to cover more objectives.  Take the unit of ten with gutrot. Harbinger can trigger the drones locus, if you are able to be nearby.

    Allegiance: Nurgle

    Leaders
    Harbinger of Decay (160)
    Lord of Afflictions (200)

    Battleline
    10 x Putrid Blightkings (320)
    10 x Putrid Blightkings (320)

    Units
    3 x Plague Drones (200)

    Total: 1250 / 1250
    Extra Command Points: 1
    Allies: 0 / 200
    Wounds: 110

This list starts with a command point. Nice for botched charges. Or nice realm commands (if playing with realm rules) or even the new commands (RR 1s on the drones buffed by the locus is reallllly nice!) Could make the list fighty by making the LoA the general and giving him the Virulent contagion trait ("adds" one rend to all his weapons, including that of the fly.) The fly's bell would be rend 3, his spike would be 3/3+/3+/-2/d3 damage! and the mouthparts would get rend to. Rustfang artefact would be even more deadly. Obviously the witherstave is the best artefact in the entire book. The LoA also activates the locus on the drones, and allows nearby (7"... NOT wholly within) rr1s to hit. A bit more fighty.

I happy to help if you dont like either of these. Have any models you want to use in particular? How do you feel about no magic?

I really like the idea of that second list, uses a model I like that I barely ever use.

I love the witherstave for perpetual trolling, so I'd keep that.

My only worry with no magic is manipulating the wheel...

Im happy to help! What models do you have access to?

Harbinger, Festus, Gutrot, Glottkin, Lord of Plagues, Lord on Pusgoyle, 30 Plaguebearers, 20 PBK, 3 Plague Drones, 3 Pusgoyle, Beast of Nurgle.

    Think that's everything

  14. Entering a local tournament, 1250 points.

First time I'm entering something like this and have no competitive play experience.

Looking for ideas for making a PBK centric list as they're my favourite models to play with.

Any thoughts/help people could offer me?

    Thank you!

5mm is pretty big - putting it into perspective I use 5mm dia x 4mm to hold the weapons on my Imperial Knight Porphyrion (the massive resin Knight Forge World do).

Generally a 3mm dia x 2mm or a 2mm dia x 1.5mm is going to be more than man enough to hold regular sized model pieces together.  I think I use a 3mm magnet to hold Neferata onto her mount.

Ah OK, thank you for that!

Plenty of drills to accommodate for that 👍

Drill wise I'd suggest looking for a watchmakers drill.  Most will comfortably take a 3mm or 4mm drill bit and they're normally pretty cheap.

I'm looking at starting a beastclaw raider army and want to start magnetising models for the first time.

I've looked online and the process seems simple enough, but what I'm struggling to find is the right drill which can accommodate up to 5mm drill bits.

Do I need to go that high, or was the tutorial I found just being a tad overzealous? And would you mind recommending a drill that you like to work with?

    Thank you!

Yea. 1-3 units of marauders, with optional Darkoath Chieftain.

    120 for 20, or 200 for 40.

Lose initial command point if any mercs (i.e. multiple units is no futher CP penalty).

Can you take marauder horseman? I'm thinking as a screen that is fast enough to stay in front of my stuff

Pardon my ignorance, but how are you getting marauders in? Is that the new mercenary stuff?

Pretty much everything in the Stormcast line is good. The question is just a bit too open to have an answer, you could run any variety of things and do fine unless you're going to tournaments.

You'll get a range of models no matter what you do. Stormcast lists take a variety of Heroes (buffing foot Heroes, fighty mounted Heroes), a variety of Battleline (semi-chump Liberators, position-focused Judicators, elite Sequitors, tricky Hunters), variety of mounted Elites (linebreaker Fulminators, hit and run Palladors, charge forward Dracolines), varied melee foot Elites (mostly Evocators, but Paladins are still viable as well, shooting Elites from Raptors), and Aetherwings because Birbs.

What kind of list are you looking for? Shooting focused, melee focused, or mixed? Hyper-elite or semi-elite? Punchy Heroes or supporting Heroes? Stormcast are flexible enough that there's no one straightforward way to build a list.

Thanks for the info @Requizen I'm so use to armies where the main focus is around 1 or 2 units I forget it isn't all that way.

I love the dracoline models and I quite like the idea of having some shooting in my army as all my other options are very melee intensive, so if I can have an army that performs best at range, that would be a fun change of styles.

Does that narrow me down a little?

    Thanks for your time!

  20. Good day all. With the release of the new WD, the article about SCE had me thinking I'd love to start a Realm of Life Stormcast army to take on my nurgle and BoC.

Could someone give me a good starting point for making a varied SCE army? I like a range of models as opposed to lots of one thing, as I already have that with Putrid Blightkings.

Thanks in advance for anyone's help!

  21. Meeting a friend for a 1500 point game. Wanting to bring a list of mainly mortal nurgle with a Harbinger, but I can't look past Blight Cyst so it doesn't leave much room for being inventive. Any odd lists that emphasise fun over competitiveness that folk enjoy?
