The thing is, if you want that 'former chaos guy as undead' aesthetic back it pretty much /has/ to be a new guy.  Because while Nagash could bring back Krell, by what logic would he bring back Krell's specific busted up suit of armor?  Krell was a mortarch in the end.  If he comes back, he'd get a fancy new set of deathlord armor in the style of the end times plastics or the Ossiarchs.  Heck, he'd probably /be/ an Ossiarch.

I know... but the idea of mixing the general Death and Chaos aesthetic is just absolutely perfect imo. You get the cosmic horror no man can truly perceive mixed with the perversion of the natural cycle, what's not to love? I know the odds are against me on this one... which is why I'm waiting for The Lady of Ruin to be revealed so I can use her as the base for a custom "death to chaos" character.

  2. The Lady of Ruin being sent out into the Mortal Realms could also tie into the section in Dawnbringers IV where katakros orders all of his legions to fortify their positions. To the ossiarchs outside of the Siege of Eightpoints, it's a strange order since they're actually managing to regain some of the ground they lost after Teclis decided to invade.... but they're built to obey so they do so anyway. Also, I'll take this moment to point out when Mannfred invaded one of Arkhan's "stash-house" of illegal/forbidden magical items, he found a lot of undead rat corpses and not much else, so it looks like shaven are inbound....

Why?  He's not even a person.  He has no personality, no motivations.  The most interesting parts of Krell were always tied up in his relationship with Kemmler, the open question of whether it was the ranting necromancer or the silent skeletal brute behind him that was really pulling the strings.  What does Krell, especially devoid of Kemmler, bring to the table that a wight king or ossiarch liege grounded in AoS's specific lore and setting couldn't?

EDIT:  No, that's not fair.  Krell does have some appeal in the 'silent hulking brute but you can't be sure what if anything is actually going on inside'.  Like, is he just an automaton or is he an actual thinking guy.  That's not nothing, it is a pretty solid archetype for a skeletal dude, and none of the AoS undead characters have that in that they all have motivations (albeit sometimes muddled ones) that they'll happily tell you about at length.  They're all chatterboxes, none of them are just silent and menacing.

So fair enough, I withdraw my complaint, I can see /why/ someone would want Krell back.  I just personally would rather see a new take on that archetype and leave Krell himself back in the Old World.  Though even then I have to admit that the decision to lock the Old World game down to a time period when Krell's still entombed and Kemmler probably isn't even born yet means we won't even get to see him there.

So I guess I wouldn't object to bringing Krell back in AoS, at least not as much as I'd object to Vlad or Abhorash (seriously DO NOT bring back Vlad or Abhorash).

In addition to the fact that Krell would greatly fill in the "menancing, silent type" role the undead typically have in other mediums (that I agree AOS is somewhat lacking), there's also the fact that as a former chaos-champion turned slave/worshipper of undeath Krell has some of the coolest armor an on-foot hero can have in any version of fantasy (seriously GW, bring this man back):gw-99800207009_6.jpg.85e83880bd9751e177aeaf9e99416e02.jpg

  4. Having picked up both the new White Dwarf, Dawnbringerss IV, and reviewing "older" releases, I have come to the following conclusion of potential releases.

New Wave/Grand "Refresh" factions: Skaven, Fyreslayers, Idoneth (based on the old "Underworlds waband=new wave concept of rumors), and Lumineth (unfortunately).

    New Factions entirely: Chaos Dwarfs.

New model for old character/potential new character: Khorgos Khul(all new stories and lore point to him finally becoming a daemon prince), "Lady of Ruin" chaos character mentioned in book IV.

EDIT: I have a @Whitefang reaction, my day has been made.

We do kind of know that it's a bit of a post-hoc justification though, thanks to CA posting the concept art (where they all had beaks). The truth is probably "GW told us to lose the beaks", but they're being diplomatic about it.

The real reason is likely GW not wanting for TWW to step on the toes of AoS: Realms of Ruin.

Where does one find the concept art for the new DLC? seriously when all four updates are done CA better release an updated art book.... Also I kind want these tzaangors to show up as a heavy-elite version of the unit in AOS, they're gorgeous.

I’m aiming to use my Chorfs in both TOW and Azgorh for casual games in AOS. So I’ll need a Shartor to make the Bull Centaurs battleline.

Seems like he’s supposed to be pretty huge and more purely mutated/gifted organically from Hashut.

Anyone know if a Myrmidon body is bigger than a Theridon? Also was looking at the Fomoroid Crusher and maybe putting either top on perhaps on either a Mournfang body (and sculpting it smoother and with hooves) or on that Stormcast Astreia Solbright mount (and again sculpting hooves)

I've got both the character Ogroids and ngl neither of them are notably bigger; I think the Fomoroid is what you're looking for!

I can confirm that what @Pizzaprez said regarding the ogroid models is true. Personally, if you want to kit bash a Shartor model I think you should use the Centauroid as a base (dude looks more like a bull then a horse) and out the Ogroid body to fill in the holes. For the axe I think the best option is one of the weapons from the Varanguard kit.

  7. I'm a borderline ogor fan (particularly the Beastclaw Raiders), so I'll throw my two bits in:

Refresh the basic ogres, Ironguts, and leadbelcher kits.

Maneaters with range/great weapon options and bits from all the realms.

    multipart butcher/slaughtermaster kit.

    expansion of Beastclaw Raiders

Plastic Firebelly and expansion of his sub-faction (guy has the coolest look out of the entire list, but he's all alone).

That‘s just dinobots with fewer steps. AT-AT Grimlock has the secret power of being fined for copyright infringement!🥴

Agreed @MitGas, let’s also not forget that nearly every named lizardmen mount in TOW is also pushing the limits of being caught as well.

Fingers crossed! It seems like OW has been more successful than GW anticipated though which may bump up future project priority to try to capitalise and hold interest. Edit @Whitefang any word on whether that's the case? You tend to be in the know and am curious how GW regards the OW's success in its sales/

Either way, I am a Tomb King man, but damn me if I don't love Cathay's designs! I have a feeling they will be my first Order/Forces of Fantasy Old World army!

Ah, a fellow loyal subject of LONG LOST NEHEKHARA!!! I for one welcome the chance to remind the cathayans that ours was the first proper empire in the setting.

Maybe that's why old Astragoth needed the machine-legs?

I have decided to make some right-proper Bull-Centaurs, led by my metal Hthark from Bloodbowl as the Tauruk, and a Forgeworld Shartor.  I was thinking plastic Juggernaut bodies and Ogor torsos/arms.  Guess for the heads Ogor heads with added horns and maybe beards?  Then should do single-handed weapons and shields or should I do great weapons?  Gonna base them on rectangular stone plinthes of appropriate size for Old World too, then magnetize those for oval bases when friendly gamers are alright with Legends.

Well we know from old lore and TWW that Bull Centaurs often became biomechanical monsters due to experimentation, so the juggernaut bodies make sense (heck I've had the same idea), though I think you should use Ogroid Myrmidons as the upper torso since they're more muscular and bull like then ogors (so you just need to add beards). Speaking of the taurus in the room, what do you think will happen to Shaartor? will he labor in hobby limbo exile or be reborn in glorious plastic once GW decides to bring the lads onto the tabletop proper?

I wouldn’t be surprised if that becomes a lord mainstay of them all using mech bodies to move their stone forms around after eons in the Realm of Chaos.

Heck that might be why they need things like the Horns of Hashut to lay the groundwork’s for them since they’re too clunky to get somewhere fast.

Five bucks says that this quote by @Baron Klatz becomes the basic lore for either a new named character or the generic "daemon prince" type hero for the army.

  12. This may be the wrong thread to post this in, but has anyone seen the scarabs & scorpions included in this earlier preview post? I know odds are these are part of the tomb swarm kit, but I like to hope this means more plastic kits are inbound....TlYjpIhM9ZfEW1uI.jpg.324f5c41f5d29f5cf720a1c7f66b9000.jpg

Personally Neferata and Olander's regiments win from a purely lore standpoint: We know the former has sunk quite a bit of capital and influence into manipulating Ushoran and his get, meanwhile grief and delusion tend to go hand in hand.... so what I'm saying is that I'd definitely consider running either of these two alongside my FEC army.

She should’ve used a darker gold as well- Her skin is pale so it’s bright on bright, when dark on bright would probably look better.

Honestly if they used the old/standard gold (retributor armor, reikland flesh shade, liberator armor +stormhost silver) I think it could've worked out.

If only weird snake vampire lady had looked as cool. 😕

I think this mode is spot on.

Honestly IMO Sekhar just needs a mask and a better paint job for her skin. I'm thinking either the Tomb Guard champ's mask or one from The Masque of Slaanesh's wand:Screenshot2024-01-29at12_29_56PM.png.427b09f99ff6de687bc08cd622ce3dd0.pngScreenshot2024-01-29at12_30_58PM.png.dd2e65a192fd0d13fdd51a6690b507ef.pngScreenshot2024-01-29at12_31_19PM.png.84bb2e40c5f8b8248b67b2bcb53f9131.png
