  1. Hi everyone!

I'm looking for a new army to oppose my friend's Lumineth and I've been considering Idoneth (I've been considering a lot, I'll be honest). I'm just curious. I like Allopex... Allopexes? Allopexi? And Namarti. I don't want to go eel-heavy (even though I know that's The Thing). I have to ask: what Enclave would support that sort of army best? Further, how well do you all think I would do against Lumineth?

Thanks for any answers in advance!

Edit: I'm also considering adding Bundo Whalebiter in partly to continue the nautical theme and partly as a big target to soak enemy fire.

Sadly all tools to do that have been removed from StD.

You have zero Magic phase since Lum are able to negate the few spells we have, Std have no shooting phase, and they are better in combat.

Since they deny the magic without rolling, they destroy the only one trick pony we have.

Best thing is to switch to Nurgle or Tzeench.

Thanks for the answer! Granted I wish that WASN'T the answer but c'est la vie.

  3. Hello!

I'm considering focusing on Slaves to Darkness for a while to oppose my friend's Lumineth. What would you all recommend as good tools to square up against them? I know he's working on a pretty strong (from what I've heard) list with Cathallars and Sentinels.

Any advice you can give me is greatly appreciated!

You have to really ask yourself why you want to play HoS.

The only attractive units from S2D are, varangar and marauders. Because the mostly operate independently and don't need too much to do their thing. Godseeker marauders essentially auto charge for example.

Warrior dmg is quite low. Knights are an interesting replacement for hellstriders but they aren't battleline so it dominates your other unit choices a bit.

That's a good question. I suppose it boils down to aesthetic; I want to play Slaanesh but I prefer the Mortals both as models and in theme.

Mortal heavy lists without marauders run into the issue of our best mortal battleline unit (hellstriders) having no synergy with S2D faction buffs. So you're basically left with warriors and knights. Warriors will stand up to some punishment in units of at least 15, but even at that size they're not going to dish out any appreciable hurt. Knights on the other hand are okay defensively, but will mill around accomplishing nothing in combat if you don't kill on the charge with lances, or will be outclassed by daemonettes if you go with ensorcelled weapons.

I've been contemplating running paired units of knights and hellstriders, to pin down enemies the knights need an extra turn to reach, and to provide something that actually gets stronger the longer it's in combat to contrast the lance knights ineffectiveness past the first round.

Here's hoping the Lord of Pain gives us something to help make our mortals shine.

    Thank you!

I'm okay with using Knights and Warriors as sponges while other units do the hammering. I'd actually planned on having Hellstriders zip around alongside the Knights for a little extra punch!

Hi, step 3 you have to choice your hero loadout:

    -1 single 1 hand weapon

    -2x 1 hand weapon

-1 single 1 hand weapon and 1 shield

    -1 single 2 hand weapon

(... and then the loadout combo with ranged weapon)

If your caracter have 2x single hand axe, you'll have 2 mele weapon entre, one for each axe. You will have to pay 1 DP for each of them for base state.

Then in step 6, where you'll be able to pick improvements, if you pick stuff improving, for exemple, damage of 1 of your mele weapon, you'll be able to improve stats from only 1 of your axe with this (single) improvement. Obliviously, you could take (and pay) 2 time this improvement to upgrade once each of your 2 axe if you want them to have same stats.

I hope this bring clarity to you!

Thank you so much! I was thinking that migbt be the case and I'm glad to get it cleared up!

Thats b.c its a 25yr old model and made when large models wasn't really a thing lol, It should be 2x as big, here is hoping they remake it and male it on a large behemoth base like the Ghorgon.

That's a good point. It certainly seemed massive when it came out in comparison to all the old gor and ungor models in the army book.

When the Shaggoth was released the fluff behind the two things in the hair are those are Ungors.  I would love to see an Ancient Shaggoth by FW or GW.  Give reasons for a new kit too.  New Warscroll.

Huh, I never realliy noticed those. I remember when it came out I thought it was brilliant but never picked one up.

If you mean the new set of models for Warcry I would not expect GW to release a new Tome for one set of models. They are more likely to use the app, the website and the model instructions to give us the rules for one new unit of models.

A new Battletome I'd expect to come with at least several new kits (esp since DoK hasn't really got any old kits worth replacing - the oldest is probably the Doomriders and they are not that old)

I expect a new tome next year (Fyreslayers and Kharadrons both got updated three years after their initial release, I believe). Having said that I don't think we'll get any new units in the tome other than the Khainite Shadowstalkers (I think (and hope)) and Morgwaeth's Blade-coven.*

Speaking of, the fact that Morgaeth and her Coven are listed in the updated points leads me to believe that they would have been released by now if not for the machinations of Clan Pestilens. I look for their announcement every weekend.

*Edit: and maybe a terrain piece.

if you think this is bad, try taking a course in healthcare. I had to have a note card with every acronym on  it just to read a chapter in a book on all the organizations and commities involved...

Ugh, tell me about it. At my hospital - because it's been around for so long and is expanding so damn quickly - we'll have multiple terms for specific functions and everyone seems to insist that no, their own nomenclature is the only legitmate one and only idiots use anything else.

I have to say, GW really understands how my brain works. I can't stay excited about anything for very long and I think I'm about ready to cycle back around to being interested in Lumineth again.

they did mention in the article that the plaques on Teclis' belt are there because he's mastered all of the elements.

Everything changed when Archaon attacked. Only Teclis, master of all four elements, could stop them, but when the Idoneth needed him most, he vanished. A hundred years later GW revealed the new Teclis.

I don’t think the faces are the issues. Some of these helmets do not do them any favours with big cheek plates that hide the neck and shape their faces worse as well. I like the horns personally, seems to be a thing correlated with Celennar. I just don’t like the wide cheeked helms.

They look like giant sideburns to me.

Can I be the first to say wow? Because wow!

Starborne are the Seraphon we know: Bravery 10 and Lords of Space and Time.

Coalesced are much more primal. +1 attack to all their Jaw attacks and -1 Damage to all incoming hits (minimum 1)

    Then there are subfactions:

Dracothian's Tail lets you teleport units in from reserve.

Fangs of Sotek give Skinks 3" extra movement first turn.

Koatl's Claw give Sauri +1 to hit when they charge.

Thunder Lizards is the all-stegadon party they've hinted at. More info on it soon.

Im glad they managed to combine physical lizards with the star spawn Seraphon. I really liked the temple ship but I understand that some people prefer the old style.

It's a win for everyone! Just as the Great Plan foretold!
