I’d rather just blend all of these models out of sight If I had to put the new deathmaster next to these

Tell me about it. I've puttied some cloaks onto Clanrats but I'm still pretty sad the 4chan "leak" was a big bag of 4chan.

How this threat is so devoid of talk after today?? We are getting a new named character + 3 new units (1 archer and 2 cavalry options), all many of us were wishing some weeks ago!

Come forth children of life, our season as finally come!!

Agreed! I had very low expectations so every reveal just sent me further and further over the moon, haha!

  3. Me: "Okay, GW. All I want is Tree-Revenant archers. That's all I'm asking for."

GW: "Best I can do is Tree-Revenant archers, but with those bug jetpacks you love so much."

    Me: "I- what?"

GW: "Plus dragonfly cavalry. And the Lady of Vines gets a model."

Seriously though, this was an amazing reveal and I'm so thrilled!

Dark skinned jungle sylvaneth who are all transgender women with muscular physiques and they ride cartoon looking Beatles. Also they are very expensive and have really good shooting with mortal wounds.

How funny would it be if this was exactly what it was and you were just leaking it? I'd laugh my face off and immediately buy like, three kits.

Indeed! It’s a huge boon for both the community and setting.

It’s a infinite cosmic fantasy setting, anything can happen and should be allowed to happen.

This is the truth. My only regret is that I have only one reaction to give.

Like asexual, hyperaggressive muscular fungi is just a thing but "they" is strange? Pfft. Okay.

I don't want to get this thread derailed or have a mod get involved, but for Pete's sake I think we can all agree that the Mortal Realms is a huge, fantastic tapestry made so that we can paint our stories onto no matter what they can be.

Yeah, some rumor mongers put “Sylvaneth coming and will make controversy 👀” which can be interpreted in an endless number of ways or just blatant click bait.

I hope it’s controversial though on the level of Ossiarch noses, Alarith cow aelves and vampire-drake-centaurs.

Everytime an oldhammer grognard pulls out their hair an Stormcast Prosecutor gets their wings. 👼👼👼

Well I guess I count as an oldhammer grognard but by-and-large I like seeing the weird stuff AoS comes up with.  I can hardly wait for the reveals this week!

My uncle who used to work for nintendo has started working for GW, and he told me that the next rumor engine will be a picture of a skaven and chorf holding hands while they write battletome: silent people.

I believe him.  He has a good track record.

Anyway, I still have my hopes. I'm just crossing fingers for the rat-release to be something more than a starterbox. Not everything on 2022 for AoS can be only starterboxes! But don't worry, just in case, I have my clown nose prepared

I have a feeling there won't be much if anything for Skaven based on their near-absence in the Rumour Engines, but if I'm wrong I'll be quite happy.  They definitely need some updated models!

Yeah I’m wondering if that’s the “Sylvaneth controversy” a few rumor mongers have been talking about. Possible Sylvaneth that formed to look like small people & gitz to ride the medium-sized beetles

    Controversy?

I still stand by that Sylvaneth are getting the long awaited Elf release akin to how Slaanesh got a significant Mortal release for their book.  Kurnous as a large kit (akin to Glutos), then a cavalry kit (those centaur spear guys), and a bow/CC infantry kit.  Possibly a Huntsmaster in some form (thinking of the Lion in the Shadespire release).  Maybe a caster and infantry hero as well.

If i had to bet Montgomery Burns for a coke, I would wager what I've said as the release.

Mortal Slaanesh models had a number of Rumour Engines prior to their release. How many hints of any kind have we had for new Sylvaneth things? All I can think of is a bug leg that may not even be a Sylvaneth model.

I'd be shocked if we got more than a hero model in a dual box. Pleasantly shocked to be sure, but that's the way the Wyldwood crumbles.

Edit: I hope I'm wrong, of course!

I really hope we are getting new Sylvaneth models. I’d love more kurnoth hunter style tree dudes. Not too kean on the wild hunt I just want trees and bugs

That would certainly be nice. Personally I'm still waiting for Tree-Revenants with bows like Ahnslaine. It's like come on, Alarielle, you have these woof elf souls and you're not gonna give them bows?

P.S. Remember Nurgle. Everyone was underwhelmed right up to the actual release. Now it’s a very cool, thematically super fitting book with quite a lot of options. Seraphon level of bonkers strong, thank the horned rat, no! But good enough and super fun to play against.

It was the same with the Idoneth book. Bloodthirsty Shiver was revealed and the sea was falling.  It's natural to look at a reveal and say "I feel a certain way about this" - "calling it as it is", I think someone said - but we can't forget that what we're looking at is an incredibly small fraction of the big picture.

Maybe the crossbows are literally their profile, a 5+ ethereal save and that's it. Maybe they're more. I'm rather excited to find out, truth be told.

Now my theory: What if Kurdoss' faction gives them a bonus to range like Underguts or Big Yellers? I don't know if that'd help them but it seems like a possible (and common) subfaction ability.

If you are interested in such a list, you might actually consider a Mor'Phann sub-faction build. In that sub-faction Soulrenders get to add 3 to the slain models returned. This way each of your Soulrenders return 4 to 6 Namarti models per turn. Pair it with a Tidecaster to drop down een extra boat and double dip on the currents, or add in a Eidolon of the Sea perhaps for some true healing shenanigans and debuffs on your enemy. (he can also very reliably drop down a lifeswarm to up the amount of revived Namarti even more)  You can play around with the build, you can also go the soulrenders + thrallmaster route and create super survivable and hard hitting units. Could even consider a leviadon since you are playing with namarti and sharks do also benefit from the void drum. Your sharks will be a supportive unit in this situation though. Your money is in the Namarti units for these lists. Not saying that sharks won't do work on their own though.

I've actually been considering Mor'phann for lists ever since, well, ever since Idoneth released! Extra value for maybe my favorite model in the range absolutely had my attention. Truthfully I may wind up getting some more Thralls just so I can truly play the heck out of some Mor'phann.

It wasn't always fun but there was a pride in figuring out how to play around and win with an army that was so far behind the curve.

Aye. There's something nice about hitting a meta army in the liver with and army they didn't expect that warms me cockles. There's something about being an underdog that makes me want to dig my heels in.

I was honestly expecting our article to just be blank.

I've said this before but I was surprised we had an article. "We asked an actual goat..."

I love Beastmen. They hit a thematic point in my heart: the unknown terror of the dark woods. Of the unknown. There is a demoniac imagery in their shape that mirrors the goatmen in Diablo I loved so much. My gamer handle for years has been "Gharbad the Weak".

But sometimes I think beastmen should have remained a chaff unit for Chaos. Better than this goofy half-life of a faction.
