  1. I’ve played a lot of games in aos.

i’ve heard of so many people that it has a tactical meaning behind it, yet every game I so far had (and believe me I’ve played against tournament players, i take part at events or have at least so this is definitely not a part of the fame I’m lacking in) I haven’t yet once seen that so called tactical thinking people claim it has. If you get the double turn you just take it.

sure an army that is currently having a disadvantage could maybe keep up with the currently more powerful army if it gets that double turn, yet from the few hundred of games I have seen, this came up once.

if an army that is already a lot stronger then you gets the double turn. You can just stop playing. Even tournament players struggle against an army that is stronger than theirs if it gets a double turn.

Personally I’m not a fan of the double turn as it currently stands.

There’s no real flaw-back for taking the double turn Or a reason to ignore it.

and as long as that’s the case I don’t believe the double turn is a great part of the game.

does this mean the double turn should go?

well as ling as it give the player taking the double turn no disadvantage I think its something that should be just ignored.

But considering what gw wrote, I’ll wait till I have seen the new glorious or devilish plan-sheme gw has for the double turn in 4.0.

That's why they said they're introducing more interacting toys for both players in each of their turns in 4th.

Like it or not, Double Turn is one of AoS' exclusive features. There's no other game system that has it. Makes sense they want to keep it while trying to make it more fun.

    Actually there is.

that game is called a somg of ice and fire.

although there is a huge difference to the way aos plays.

Instead of the player having an entire turn.

The player who goes first can choose a unit that will make an action, then the opponent gets to choose a unit with which he can make an action and etc.

as soon as all unit had their turn a roll off will determine who goes first next

Looks like new Stormvermin are on the way

I mean the artwork is awesome.

you see a clawleader of the clanrats on top and some on the bottom.

but I don’t see anything indicating clanrats gettting a new kit.

these guys look like clanrats as we know about them

Treat them like the IG heavy weapons squad ? Sounds like a logical idea.

Also look at who liked your post.

    (Sorry for DP)

Btw, I already noted it earlier, but Im gonna talk about this again: the clawlord is handling a mini-ratling gun.

Why is this important? Because bringing back the old weapon teams on just an updated note would be weird since skavens have now the technology to make versions slightly smaller.

So, yeap, despite my relunctancy, it is highly possible that this artillery thing is in fact a ratling gun. The sprue isnt compatible with multimodularity, but I guess there'll come a new remade one in the future that allows the weapon in the top to change (and flesh slayers will be tossed up to legends because theres no way you can toss it up on the kit's idea)

They really upped the caliber of the ratling for this edition if this is a new ratling gun.

I have a feeling this might be something entirely different to the weapon teams.

I’m actually keen in seeing if these jezzails are a multi part kit considering the backpack they where carrying.

it’s possible we might be seeing weapon teams in units of 3 n

While I dont know if what people say is true or not ( but it doesnt sound stupid in general imho)

But you know you are actually proving the point with that example right ? instead of proving how stupid it is.

Darkoath are an AoS thing, they werent a WFB thing... the WFB equivalent are the Marauders (wich up till now were in AoS too)

Guess what the Darkoath are likely replacing just in time for the originals to get the axe and become TOW( thus WFB) only.

    That is true.

although as it currently often seems people are currently considering armies being supported in tow getting the axe.

there’s no update or idea of a refresh/ new model taking the place of the old here.

it’s just that armies is being axe.

    we officially don’t know that.

  8. 21 minutes ago, Marcvs said:

it's minis, not armies: the new Darkoath stay in AoS, the old ones go to ToW. Therefore (right or wrong, at least, legitimately) seeing current AoS dwarves in ToW is taken as a sign that they are going.

That’s what i think was the general idea, yet..😂

I have seen a lot of people playing tow that are excited for darkoath, and a lot more people that actually took the new range of slaves to darkness into their chaos warriors armies.

the amount of conversion I have seen people making to get nurgle chaos knights or using blood warriors for chaos warriors with the mark of khorne is just amazing!

and they fit so well into that setting

This was confirmed fake a long time ago wasn't it? Heywoah did a video reviewing it, and IIRC correctly somebody said their wishlist got posted as a fake leak. It would take me forever to dig up the tweet though.

    • sounds like no USRs? good
    • this better not be what made indexes a necessity. Not worth it
    • good change
    • good change, might hurt a few armies with multiple lores (spiderfang) but those might get the axe...
    • battle tactics 🤮
      • On a more serious note this doesn't actually do anything. Pretty much the only time to actually take a double is when you can immediately win the game. This doesn't really shift the math, or make controlling prio any weaker.

Took them 4-6 years to get all the armies they wanted around into books and to squat the leftovers. 3 years later they reopen the issue. At this point everything should either be in or out. Its ridiculous.

Gutbuster Ogors are 100% in, they're not getting old world support, plus we got new gorgers and a new terrain piece. Spiderfang on the other hand are definitely on the chopping block too.

I kinda find it quit funny how people are currently considering armies that get supported in old world to also be armies that get the axe.

can’t wait till all those just announced darkoath unit get axed a month later😂.

(you guys get how stupid this sounds right?)

Spiderfang even get missed in the quoting.

I mean spiderfang are part of the gutz.

the fyreslayers are just a mimicry of the true power of the slayers of old,

    literally

Their comments on the double turn are just exactly how I think it already operates. A lot of battleplans give strong incentive to not take them for scoring reasons

While that js what I have heard.

i haven’t seen anybdoy use it that way in practice.

it really just seems like taking second turn and giving the first turn to your opponent always seemd to have been the play.

i’ve not yet seen a player not playing for that double turn on round 1-2

I am looking forward to this 4th edition. I know balance has been great lately and the people who play regularly are having a blast. For me, an occasional player, I would like to see a more streamlined core rules set and it looks that's the way we are headed. Really keen to play some spearhead - I'll definitely be working on getting my armys spearhead ready.

So far so good. I wonder what is going to happen with the double turn, (I really hope it stays unchanged).

So far the balance was great.

and I’m keen in seeing if their changes to the double turn will make it more accepted then it currently is.

I haven't seen or heard of anyone playing combat patrol at all really, the thing with Yndrasta being forced to start off the battlefield for the SCE spearhead seems interesting though

    I’ll be interesting.

as for combat patrol me and a small team of friends held a tournament with combat patrol.

we had around the 20ish people taking part at it if I remember correctly.

the feedback we got was it was fin but the customizability was kinda lacking.

everybody enjoyed it but would like to not attend a tournament using that format again.

    which was interesting.

If they do it like they're handling Combat Patrol in 40k, all the current boxes will get rules to start with and get a new box with their codex.

It’ll be interesting to see if the spearhead idea will be better received then the combat patrol game system currently is

A lot of people like SCE, I feel like the haters are a very vocal minority, especially post 3rd ed where they redesigned the general aesthetic

    Oh definitely.

although it is still quit funny if you compare computer or mobile games with stormcast with those warhammer fantasy or  computer or mobile games that don’t have them in.

still I don’t think its the stormcast themself more that the game was probably not what the people wanted

still just the thought is quit funny

Never underestimate the power of the SCE book and its new edition wave.

    Funnily enough about stormcast,

I’m amazed gw is still trying so hard with them.

there are numerous aos and warhammer fantasy games out there.

when it is a game without the stormy marines, the game is liked by people.

does it have soaven it it, it is considered a great-amazing game.

with the stormy marines in it, its dead on arrival😂

(there are certainly some other aspect in it) but I kinda found this comment of a friend of mine quit funny
