  1. Yeah I think numbers make the biggest difference but that would be a crazy system of hit bonus based on ranks which then depends on the army in questions ability to capitalize on that pack fighting style. Idk definitely room for something design wise there. Morale probably is the most important part of historical combat but I hate seeing combat be strictly decided by leadership tests in like 6th edition fantasy it seems? Idk I didn't play just watch bat reps.
  2. Fair. I also don't really care for 7+ to hit tables but I was just kind of lumping them together. The more complexity there is the more granularity IS possible whether they make use of it or not. Well sure but swordmasters of hoeth (or whatever you want) are also fighting in a line and presumably better at it than you or I so again I would expect to have a harder time hitting one of them than a goblin all things equal. That said I'm more thinking about things like character duels and the like. Maybe it's far too complicated to use tables only for challenges and use flat numbers for the larger combats (actually that seems doable) but if I have to pick one or the other I'd take more tables over less. I will never defend templates though. Oh so fun to have an extra gizmo I guess? And then argue endlessly over how many models slivers of base are under it 🙄
  3. I've always preferred these tables. Hitting a goblin and hitting a master swordsman should absolutely not be equally likely. Same for wounding a person versus a giant stone troll or what have you. Maybe that's just D&D talking idk.
  4. That extra in the back was just like "okay walk walk walk OH BLEEP IM SUPPOSED TO MENACE HIM! *half an arm wiggle in his direction* nailed it."
  5. What's this about enhancements for unique characters? I still can't find the specific rule saying whether a unique character can take spells from their books lore or not. (May be blind)
  6. The triangle is the old dark speech rune for DH and appears on the forehead of the herd stone. The more complex rune as pointed out already is on the Chaos Space Marines transfer sheet and doesn't line up with any fantasy runes, but assuming this isn't a 40k rumor because of how crude it looks then the rune could be a combination of the runes for GU, BH/B, and I/EE in some order. That said I don't think GW has actually fleshed out the writing system well enough for that to be true. I'll assume beasts get nothing forever and be pleasantly surprised some time in the next decade lol. Edit: Fun aside that skull tied to a skull is also a pretty good "crude representation" of a bloodletters head.
  7. The elven god of death is Ereth Khial not Morai Heg unless they changed it for AoS.
  8. I think someone said we'd know Belthanos base size "tomorrow" but they may have just meant his price. Any ideas?
  9. So the kurnoth guy is fine I guess. I like him and his callbacks to the Orion model but I don't think the bug adds anything at all to his model. Give him wings if he needs fly? On that note can anyone tell what size he is? I'll probably proxy my "dreadlord on black dragon" that's a converted wood elf on zombie forest dragon alongside all my other wood elves turned sylvaneth I suppose.
  10. The 3rd edition opener killed me. "Evil beings who lurk in the forest ambushing from the wilds. The eyes in the darkness beyond your feeble campfire" Who's that Pokémon?! SKINNY ORCS!
  11. Vexmore is pre hoofed to make a perfect slakefray beastlord.
  12. Man I'm jealous of that troll. I mean those massive horns and twisted portal could have been the coolest morghur but I'm glad for destruction players.
  13. Whitefang didn't like react this so it's false.
  14. Silly me. I was nodding my head yes and completely forgot you can't see me outside your window. Hah brain ******!
  15. Companies don't enter good faith agreements with anyone smaller than them. If there is ANY way for them to benefit from breaking that agreement or bullying that content creator they will. Having just watched the "Subway" episode of community I think you've fallen for the "corpohumanization" of James Workshop and in the interest of this being a "rumors thread" I'm going to continue cheering on every leak.
  16. The opening point is disingenuous imo. We both know GW hasn't come to my house and smashed my old models (yet) but that's hardly the same as saying they're still playable in any real sense. GW needs these shakeups to keep up their shareholders and c-suits stupidly large paychecks but this is not the place to soapbox about income inequality so I'll concede we both want them to stay in business and leave it at that. As seen over the last few pages I'm pretty pessimistic when it comes to GW but even I don't think Beasts are seriously in the running to being removed. Unlike wanderers they have a warband (kurnothi were and will be sylvaneth) and they got the new beastlord sculpt and they have their own separate book which wanderers never had, so I dont THINK they're going to relegate them to TOW only or anything like that. But hope is the first step on the road to disappointment I've heard.
  17. I wasn't active in old fantasy nor was I keeping up with AoS 1 really so I don't doubt the vitriol people accuse some Oldhammer players of spreading when AoS was young, but the whole "I'm glad your entire army/money/painting/time is going down the drain because it better fits my idea of what AoS SHOULD look like!" (Exaggerated for effect) seems like exactly the kind of gatekeeping attitude that is so derided of Oldhammer fans. Then someone mentioned how beasts of chaos COULD get trash canned as well (no offense to the individual) and if GW thinks I'm going to be a good little consumer and buy buy buy the latest shiny new toy after they invalidate BOTH my armies than they can [insert something that would definitely break community guidelines] where the sun don't shine. Okay. I'm done venting on this topic. Back to positive TGA.
  18. On the topic of "at least it means they're likely to get new models." I spent my money already. I'm not looking to buy new overpriced models now and I can't get excited that I'm being told by GW that I have to. Guess I'll be happy for the people who are in better financial position to reap the benefits of "updated kits" but I'm sure GW will make sure that IF/when they replace them with kurnothi sculpts down the line like they did with lumineth they will ensure they do not have easy 1 for 1 proxies. If I'm not mistaken I found the removed wood elf line makes a decent line up of SBGL proxies so I can maybe play my dead models as dead models.
  19. Hard to feel like this move is "super wow pro player cool guy GW!" When my army is entirely models that are getting removed. They'll be fine proxies I suppose but I started this army when every army was getting their rules in the GHB and if they really were pro player they would have told us then which armies weren't actually going to be supported since they already knew...
  20. I don't understand at all. They raised the points on beasts of chaos spawn by 15 points, but nobody is taking spawn unless they're spamming the morghurite chaos spawn who are not the same thing and have their own separate points cost... I thought they gave up on 5 point changes because they knew they were pointless and yet that's most all of what beasts got? And most of them point increases to a faction that really isn't showing up competitively except to absolutely spam ungor raiders. Cockatrice points nerf after they already errata'd it to be unspammable means you're paying 120 points for a literal 50/50 chance at a debuff? Seems pointless but we always knew it'd get nerfed for the sin of being allied to better factions. All in all a very disheartening change for beasts. Goonhammer said it pretty well imo. Guess I like coherency and look out sir changes but with no fight in two ranks 32mm units are still severely hamstrung.
  21. Magic to make a skeleton horn make noise is much easier to understand than magic that somehow effects the position of 2 objects on a fixed axis relative to the rest of the world hah. Doooooooooooo.....
  22. Yeah but look where the weight is? The difference between that and WAAAAAAY up above him is a big one. I'm alone in thinking this is even stupider than the cow head helmets of the lumineth guys. Imagine you have to animate/write that thing fighting. Your options are: The ogor barely moves his body, and I mean barely, no waist movement what so ever which just does not mesh with ... well fighting. Or the man up top is just being flung around with all the grace and care of one of those little door stopper spring things you see on walls. It's not just "warhammer wacky" imo. It requires the same level of "idk magic" as skeletons moving without ligaments except that even if its magic anti grav wood it STILL would mean the guy at the top is getting shaken like a cat toy. It's just dumb to me.
  23. I'm sure if I were a more diehard skaven collector I'd have a stronger opinion about neglecting the other clans but as for Skryre there are also neat skaven in powersuit harnesses that are programmed to make them more strong/skilled in combat and prevent fleeing that Ikit Klaw made in the Hamilcar books that would make perfect AoS sculpts. In fact in the same book Ikit "Skavenified" the reforging process of stormcast while also being described as quite terrifying. Basically shrugging at the fact he was pissing off gods. He'd be an excellent cawl type model update imo.
  24. Man I wanna see the khorne builds doing so well. Every battle report I see for them looks... average at best. Edit: This wasn't a rhetorical statement. I meant I'd actually like to see the lists if anyone has them lol.
