  1. GGR also still have their boosts and range on your opponents turn whereas BGR arent charging. Still think theyre both great
  2. I think one of the takeaways is that GGR and BGR are so close, you can really just go with whichever models you like best. There are some minor tactical differences, but their overall output and points cost is really close.
  3. I still say the Scriptor was supposed to be our first Priest
  4. Hoo boy. Assembling a Krulghast is a mite scary for those of us with large hands that sometimes shake. Trying to trim moldlines on his hands and fiddly bits with an exacto had me sweatin bullets
  5. I mean technically he can apply all his attacks to the support hero or key target or whoever, the guys in range just up the # of attacks
  6. They are nice models. I was quite shocked they didnt get some specific tie-in that synergized them somehow
  7. Happy to see some battlereports rolling in. Im waiting on some deliveries; parts to finish epic Kurdoss conversion thats been on my shelf for 2 years, a Krulghast, finishing a Vorgheist (Mourngul proxy) and I found myself oddly -3- grimghasts short of a block of 20 somehow... smh. Poking around on ebay for singles. Been thinking of doing a cavalry-swarm/diorama Black Coach proxy.. Anyone else painting/readying to paint up a storm?
  8. That is true that other monsters do more damage and have more profiles, but the Mourngul has never been one of those big set-piece theme creatures. You also have to take into account balance is important with Ethereal and Fly and Retreat-Charge and Malignant Weapon and a 6+/5+ ward save... they typically dont want Forgeworld medium-sized monsters overshadowing the game. He isnt a $200+ centerpiece; just a medium sized ghost gribbly. Another issue is if they boost his points (back) up to around 400+ he is approaching half a Nagash. They would have to *add* some new effects and abilities to warrant such a hike; and typically these edition/tome evolutions (especially 3rd edition's streamlining) are about taking abilities away or dumbing them down, rather than going out on a limb and making new stuff. Forgeworld, old model, slowly been trying to dissuade people from buying him and picking up a Black Coach instead for years... I dont see them adding anything new.
  9. So; since I cant help but theorycraft (if you dont like the pre-release guessing games I apologize) Im still wondering what they will do with the Mourngul. Its main theme has been a debuff aura, exploding 6's for added random lethality (used to be added Damage, then became MW's) and a self heal. Given that WoT can now result in -1 to hit army wide and 6's auto-wound army wide, I see both of these abilities being re written. Given how 3.0 works and the direction Nighthaunt has been taken, my best guess is going to be; Debuff aura changed to 6" terrify (already a command trait and thus established) Lethality boost changed to impact hit MW's (same as Hexwraiths or Black Coach) Neither of which being precisely what I would wish for, this isnt wishlisting, but what I think they are likely to do to maintain the overall new direction for Nighthaunt. (Maaaybe a damage bump up to 3 per swing to compensate for losing MW's, which would keep his offensive output on par with Kurdoss again)
  10. Surprised a Cairn Wraith did that much carnage with just 3+/3+ -1 rend, even against hordes, wish he'd stayed his old price point 😂 Bit worried that most battlereps Ive seen have been both sides just completely wiping whatever theyve charged into, hard to do much healing
  11. Oh quick question; would the Mourngul get updated rules to match the new book when GHB comes out or do we have to wait for the forgeworld specific thing to come out?
  12. Awlrach really seems like almost an auto include. Great stats, 7 wounds, utility, quite killy, fairly decent point cost. Sidenote; I really hope the new GHB gives the same point-cost workover to everyone else, as I too am finding making a list requires a great deal of sacrifices at the moment. Also also; did we not get any battalions or did I miss that for list building? Just the 'take these choices and get an extra enhancement or reroll' etc
  13. Well Im happy to be wrong twice already today!
  14. I still feel lile the scriptor *could* be decent with an arcane tome just pumping out seal of shyish or shademist but good lord, his melee is pathetic on top of being a 1 trick pony of dubious value for his points. He also has a move of 6" which is also quite strange in an army of 8" speed or better
  15. Oh good, the post I have shows D1 but its a bit distorted.
  16. Still some odd stuff in this book. Glaive and Hexwraiths have 1" range with two-handed polearms. Torment going from D3 damage to 1 while GoS goes to D2. Not complaining, as most of these were tradeoffs, but these changes dont make much sense.
  17. Going to be some tactics involved on who issues what commands when youve got Harrows on the field. Have general issue all out attack and have it copied, or Discoporate? Or reroll charge? Theres another interesting question. Due to the wording and timing of events; CAN your general issue reroll charge and have the Harrows copy? Or Redploy either? Technically you are activating one unit at a time and declaring charges, if you copy the command and apply it to other units, its sort of out of sequence, same with redeploy.
  18. Ide be spamming Discoporate regardless of the size of my units 😅 Im probably going Emerald Host or Scarlet Doom, MSU Bladegheists, Myrmourns and Spirit Hosts with all the support heroes
  19. Tine to bust out the Soulsnare Shackles!
  20. Im glad Harridans are looking viable, wish the models werent so hideous. Hormagaunts with hair. Hormaghosts. Hormagheists? Anyway. Does anyone know if taking multiple Dreadblade Harrows means you can copy a command ability for each DBHarrow?
  21. I really like the phase tactics breakdown. 90 BGs sounds clunky and awkward. Agree we need a Monster, pray they do the Mourngul a good update, tho Im really nervous they want to phase it out in favor of the Coach. Are we the -only- 3.0 tome with NO monster? With retreat and charge everywhere, I would also voice that Soulsnare Shackles and the Briar Queen could potentially leave enemy units stranded and out of position after we zip away Also; running BG's in blobs of 30 just doesnt sound feasible for those who are bringing it up. Its a massive footprint, difficult to get it under a GoS or Krulghast or Chainghast aura, and sounds very easy to get bogged down in terrain or flanked and unable to retreat and charge effectively. I honestly feel that MSU BG's, despite the fragility, will be much more suitable for swirling around or retreating thru screens to charge targets further in. *especially if you are bringing myrmourns and heroes wanting to sneak in and multi charge in order to stack debuffs/fish for petrify **its really really important to remember that Hosts, Harridans, mounts, and craventhrone melee have no rend whatsoever, so without multi charges, those (predominatley 4+/4+) attacks are going to go nowhere. We need those -1 saves to push enough damage through for battleshock to cause the real havoc. A Spirit Host's 6 attacks are going to average 1 unsaved wound on a 4+ save opponent.
  22. Im seeing reaper's points to model ratio being solid as MSU Wave of Terror farming. Their footprint is a bit large at 10 models, Chainghasts or Myrmourns have a much smaller footprint but a far higher points to model ratio. Its a shame Glaivewraiths got a price hike; if they were cheap, bonus to charge range disposable WoT chaff whose only job is to pour debuffs into a combat so your big gnarly buffed-up Bladegeist/Harridan/Myrmourn hammer can clean house ... it would finally give them a recognizeable niche. As it is, Chainghasts clock in at the lowest -cost per selection- but a terrible -cost per model- for this role... what do you guys think? *edit* meaning what do you think would be our best WoT spam unit? Myrmourns for the small footprint, Spirit Hosts for similar reason, or things like Grms and rasps
  23. Am I the only one real sad about the Black Tome change?
  24. Bladegeists have better to hit and wound and a point of rend. Also Elites. You do have to factor in that opposing armies are going to have debuffs of their own as well. Harridans definitely got a great boost and are quite competetive, but BG's still have some benefits going for them. Harridans are plainly our anti-chaff and BG's seem to be more oriented against enemy elites
