  1. Well, this is concerning: https://www.warhammer-community.com/2020/10/22/metawatch-warhammer-age-of-sigmar-1-list-building-with-dan-street/ A nerf in the works?
  2. Not impossible. I toyed with the idea a little but having no access to a workshop and specific tools, I passed on the idea of fabricating a clear cross-shaped adaptor. Its possible but if you take a look at the bottom side of the Ironclad model, aside form the original stand connection point (the round component before the rotors), you don't really have a lot of space to work with
  3. Thanks for the confirmation. Wow, thats really a good first turn play. I expect an Errata soon if enough people grumble. Any other Endless Spells worth looking at?
  4. Why not just change the terminology for certain factions? Mind you I am basing this off what I have seen in Warhammer Total War. You have "Bravery", you have "Freshness (Untouched, tired, very tired, etc)", you have "Binding" for the Undead factions. Lets say for the sake of simplicity, we leave out the Freshness aspect. Instead of Bravery for Undead factions, you give them a Binding rating which should not be 10 but lets say for a horde, we top it at 8 "Binding". The same rules for Bravery and Binding checks apply, you roll a dice after combats are done, you see how many models are lost, you calculate the difference to see if it passes the Binding test. Since most Undead armies are dependent on Heroes for buffs nearby, you can even give them a passive +2 to Binding for any units within a certain bubble (effectively making them Binding 10). The idea being moment a hero dies, their corporeal tether on the Mortal realm weakens. This way it gets around the arguments "well if they are undead, they cant get scared cause they're already dead". A simple naming change and a retweak of the numbers is all it takes. Same with say the current Mega-Gargants, who technically will never run off the battlefield. You could still have it as "bravery" but say if it takes a total of 10 wounds in a turn, its bravery drops to certain levels and you have to take a Bravery test. You could logic it as the Gargant taking so much damage that it's having second thoughts about running amok
  5. I would actually like a "named" ship with rules sort of like a reverse Morathi. The hero model starts as a ship (probably Frigate) then as it is destroyed you can have the "hero" pop out of it. 2 different profiles and rule sets. Maybe the Hero Frigate is a Monster Slayer type ship while the single foot model focuses on high survivability and buffing infantry. But this would require either an entirely new sculpt which GW could only do if they made it into a Multi kit for a generic option of this new ship. Maybe some bigger than a Gunhauler and smaller than a Frigate, focused on speed and Hero hunting.
  6. On another note, my LGS has been running a league that I've clocked a good 11 games in. My Win/Rate Ratio is fairly representative of my experience, with 5W-6L, most of my wins coming by way of a points running game. I've had trouble with Iron Jaws, Maggotkin (just too many damn wounds, too many bodies), Nighthaunts and OBR. A hard hitting horde army tends to ****** up my game plan but I've had varying degrees of success against Elite to normal armies. Would like to clarify since I got this info 2nd hand from a fellow KO player while setting up for a game with a Skaven opponent. He's been quite high on Warp Lightning Vortex and when my Skaven opponent was kind enough to loan me his WLV models, I adjusted my list to include Spell in a Bottle for my Aether Khemist. It was devastating to say the least. Our battleplan was Places of Arcane Power (Pg 84, GHB 2020) which was already bad for my opponent whose army deployment was suddenly limited. Add that to the fact that the plan requires objectives to be scored by a leader and his list only running 2 leaders was detrimental to his game. Myself, I ran an Iron Sky Command (Brokk, Endrinmaster, Dirigible Endrinmaster, Aetherkhemist) and a couple of Drill Cannon Gunhaulers. So the questions are as follows: - I can't seem to add "Warp Lightning Vortex" as a Endless Spell in the Battlescribe app which made me wonder if this was legal in the first place. - I did a Fly High with Zilfin's one trick in the Hero Phase with the Aether Khemist garrisoned. My fellow KO player insisted that Spell in a Bottle could be used in garrison which surprised me, and I found no errata to contradict this. Is this for sure? Goonhammer talks it up quite a bit. - Assuming the above is correct, is Spell in a Bottle "casted" measure from the base of the Ironclad? Seems...a little too good honestly. I won the game but I felt bad about the Battleplan and the sudden change up to the list but my opponent was a good sport and gave some tips on how the WLV is triggered. On the average I was dealing about 6 wounds a turn and he couldn't dispel it till Round 3 which really limited his movement.
  7. Hey Jack, if you want some Modularity (i.e. being able to remove the model from the stand) for packing/transport/dangerous table situations, might I suggest using the Bandai Action Base stand? Here is min next to a Coke bottle. The Gundam action stands comes with a lot of the height...brackets(?) for adjustable heights. What I love about the Gundam stands is that it has this geared angle system you could adjust for angles. Some work needs to be done to fashion an adaptor, but the Action Base comes with a few options, a little grinding, filing and some green stuff, should be able to have one attached in the original connection point of the Ironclad after you drill it through. This set up has been pretty solid so far. Some wobbliness due to the size of the model but the stand is sturdy enough. Action Bases are relatively expensive at 8 bucks where I am from but its a sprue kit onto itself and has plenty of parts to work with.
  8. Thanks for asking this. Afraid I've been playing the rules wrongly. But if I use There is Always A Breeze, can I "Fly High" instead of making a normal move in the Hero Phase, then use a Normal Move in the Movement Phase, the Arkanauts can charge 3D6 per Iron Sky Squadron's benefit correct?
  9. I have a back to back gaming session this coming weekend with one player running Daughters and another going Nighthaunts. By now, I know the key to dealing with Nighthaunts is Hero sniping but I've never faced DoK before. I heard most lists run a blob of 30 Witch Aelves. Could a solid round of shooting with Focus Fire delete them or should I also Hero Snipe?
  10. So I finally pulled the trigger on a box of Fyreslayers, mainly to see if they compliment my KO in games. A bit disappointed in terms of the lack of alternate color schemes so I decided to try something a little different. What do you guys think? I've been reading a little on the Fyreslayers page and it does seem like the faction is missing some major pieces like a named Hero or 2.
  11. I've been having quite a bit of fun with this new KO. The flexibility in Battlelines opens up list building option. A couple of questions that have come up during some of my plays: - At the start of my Hero Phase, I activate a Aether Khemist ability. During Movement, can I walk that Aether Khemist into a Frigate/Ironclad to be garrisoned? Can that Skyvessel as per normal on its activation in the Movement Phase - Using the Grundstock Escort Wing Battalion, I declare a target with Focus Fire. That target dies with maybe 2 or 3 attacks from my units but I still have 2 units left to shoot with. Can Focus Fire be shifted to a new target? - An opponent cast an Endless Spell whose affects cause Mortal wounds on 6s against models within some distance. I had a Frigate with 5 Thunderers in it. Does he roll against the 5 models as well? And do any negative/positive effects occur against troops in Garrison from Endless Spells in general? I'm fairly happy with what the game testers have done. Not sure about balance but again, the freedom to explore list building is liberating and our boats feel like respectable threats now. If I had a "want list" it would probably be: - A new Unique named Skyvessel, preferrably a Frigate. Ironclads are nice but really, Frigates are a little more practical. - A small, expensive but highly elite melee unit - Another named character mainly for the fluff. Maybe someone to bring out the potential in Arkanaut Company, since I'd say we all have so many of them.
  12. Hi guys, been a long while. Life and a general sense of disappointment at last's edition's KO had me shelving the hobby for a time but I've recently been able to get some games in (in these pandemic era times) and I have to say, I'm enjoying the changes particularly the Endrinnmaster on Dirigible being a very cool and reliable model that opens up list building options immensely I have to ask a couple of questions as I am still stuck in pre-2019 Battletome rules: - How does entering and leaving a garisson work? Is it done in the Hero phase or Movement Phase? I keep flipping between the GHB rules on Garrisoning and Flying Transport but still keep feeling like something is missing - When playing Barak Zilfin, it says my first hero/leader MUST be equipped with the Staff of Ocular Optimization. Is this an absolute? And if I put it on my Endrinnmaster and give it the trait of Great Tinkerer which adds 2 more attacks to any ranged weapon, does this stack? I can get a Gaze of Grungni with 3 attacks hitting on 2s? - What's our best chaff make-up? Arkanauts feel a bit mixed in terms of the changes but I feel at 90 pts I am willing to give them more attention. I've also decided to be more open to adding allies to my list, maybe a hero or 2 but which Heroes from other factions does the best to buff KO infantry or at least keep them alive. No, I am not painting 40 Fyreslayers, thanks but no thanks.
  13. Well, as I gradually became more of a hobbyist then a player, I'm all for a new release if it means new models. If the rules are good...well, I've been late to that game before. My guess is that this set will try and make Skywardens at least nominally worth the time and effort and the boats getting buffed to at least decent save values. I love the new Balloon Endrinmaster and can't wait to paint him up. And all my balloon boys were made Endrinnriggers (all 12 of them) so I might as well make 6 Skywardens. Who knows, might pan out.
  14. I played a couple of games last week. All three were loses, all three were against Chaos. Long story short: Your screwed either way. If you play to objectives and points, you are setting your stuff up to get slaughtered by Khorne Mortal wound shenaningans or spells and what not. If you wait the turn and try to gunline Khorne or Slaneesh, its almost pointless as you will lose the attrition game in the long run with summoning and the conditions of summoning so easily achieved. To make matters worst, both Khorne and Slaneesh have insane movement abilities and while Slaneesh doesn't hit as hard as Khorne, the debuffs make the already average profile of KO to near pointless levels. You'll hear the "hurr-durr...shooting is pretty good" chuckle from your opponents as you do your damndest to kill all their chaff which keeps you from playing objectives while they accumulate Blood or Depravity or whatnot keeping their heroes far away from the only decent threat in the entire army (the stupid Skyhooks) and summoning things to eventually just win on both scenario and attrition. You'll kill stuff sure. But you'll lose pretty much everything to do it while your opponent has a second wind just ready to spring up on you. I've not won a game with KO since starting this army and thus, I've not won a single game of AoS since this is my first army. I have to admit, my initial optimism that the game would get more balanced and I'd have a chance to lean into a play style that could notch me up a win or 2. I hate being lectured to ally Stormcasts into my army just to win. Its left me more than just a little salty to say the least.
  15. I dunno how I feel about my KO anymore. I don't like being pressured not to play ships or to triple up on Arkanaut Company with Skyhooks. I don't think that was the original design concept for what KO was supposed to be. When I see things like the Skaven 160pts Plagueclaw being able to hit and wound on 3+ with a -2 rend, and Barrage of Disease, I look at my Ironclad and think why was GW so gunshy about giving KO something similar for a 420pts model. It's bothered me a lot recently as I get more games in against newer players or returning WHFB players playing their lists and I can't seem to edge out. I roll ******, yes but the law of averages doesn't seem to ever be in my favor.
  16. I played against an opponent who wanted to practise his Death Legions of Nagash army for a tournament. He picked Ghyran as the realm and proceeded to just thump me with Nagash. With the ability to cast 8 spells in his hero phase (+3 to casting because reasons) vs my 3 possible unbindings, he pretty much had all the choices. He casted Mirrorpool way out out my 30 inch bubble and moved up Nagash, then proceeded to get Flesh to Stone off easily. After that, pretty much went downhill from there. My rolls were messed up due to all the re-rolling (I was playing Zilfin so re-roll 1s against flying, but Flesh to Stone makes you re-roll successes) and I could not get rid of Nagash who just wrecked my Ironclad on a charge with all the attacks that he has. I am not going to say Nagash is OP because for all the points he is worth, he better damn well be OP but man, that was an eye opener on how insane Magic can be unchecked. Magic is just so good. And unfortunately until they give KO something to balance it out (Better Stats for our Battleline would be a start), we are going to be in trouble for a very long time. More movement shenanigans are available to the Magic inclined armies than KO ever had.
  17. Maybe if the demand is high enough for some of the older battletomes like Seraphon or Sylvaneth or Ironjaws. Certainly KO can't be the only faction that was severely affected by changes in AoS2, especially considering that KO had less than a year out before AoS2 came into being.
  18. I think for what the Ironclad can do and the punishment it can take, the Ironclad is a better option. with the spare 100 points, you could up your Thunderers. There is no "generally" speaking superior list at the moment. We know that the Light Skyhooks and Endrinriggers are staples but the delivery system depends mainly on the point size of the game. At 1000 pts, definitely consider dropping boats altogether or at least 1 Frigate. At 2000 pts, if you want to go boat heavy, an Ironclad flanked by Gunhaulers works as you can keep your distance and try gunning down the enemy with Range 24" guns (with the Flagship abilities, you hopefully get better chances at hitting).
  19. Interestingly enough, I don't think there is a Battalion that allow's Brokk to be included. Not sure if thats because of the power level of Brokk himself or an oversight. I would expect a Barak Nar Iron Sky Command to at least allow him to benefit from the battalion "buff". Passing off Mortal Wounds on a failed Supercharged role seems a bit hilarious.
  20. No worries. Maybe you and Soka Paint can try setting up a game soon if you both are still in Japan. With regards to Brokk, the more I look at his stats, the more I wonder why I passed up on him. Maybe I just wasn't feeling his Barak Nar color scheme and that Barak Nar is literally in his name. Would trying to force Brokk in a battalion be worth it? The extra command point could allow the 1 unit that needs to advance up the board (Endrinriggers) to fly up 20" (deploying 3" smartly from disembarking from a ship, doing a Command Point ability to run 6", get a buff from an Aether-Khemist) etc then flying up to wreck face with both shooting and charging attacks. I mean the ability to deal mortal wounds just by charging seems legit.
  21. Man, what a waste I didn't look into the local scene more. I stayed in Ueno for about 3 weeks which is pretty much walking distance to Akihabara. Will look it up again if I am ever back in Tokyo. Which factions do the Japanese gravitate towards? I would imagine Chaos stuff. We have a couple of Japanese expats in my neck of the woods and both of them play different flavors of Chaos, not sure as a coincidence or just a weird overall preference. I can safely say most of my country are really into Death and Stormcast at the moment. Regardless, real glad you had fun and did so well. Traveling to a country where English is not the main language while playing a game where communication between players is a key aspect must have been quite an experience (I am assuming you don't speak Japanese, if you do, thats cool). I've only been to regional tournaments in South East Asia, the furthest being Bangkok but for other game systems. Hope to get that experience soon (though the thought of travelling with the Ironclad on that damn flight stand gives me chills)!
  22. So is the Mhonar Rush the new Zilfin Clown Car? I might have to break my rule about themes and getting Brokk. I am guessing its more of a 1st Round, go 2nd list, stacking 'First Rule of Grungsson' Command Ability from Brokk and 'Prosecute wars with All Haste' letting you entire army basically run, shoot and charge in the same turn. Throw in some Aether-khemist buffs here and there, might be a devastating Turn 2 if you are up against an army that wants to run up the board to prepare for an Alpha. And if you get lucky and win the roll off, 'Who strikes first, strikes hardest' should finish off any straggling leftovers. Kinda sucks that I will need a hero from Barak Nar and the Barak-Mhonar theme on my Zilfin painted army. Oh well. On a side note @Soka Paint, curious to know what the tabletop scene is like in Japan. I saw shops like Yellow Submarine in Denden Town stocking GW products but did not have the opportunity to see any GW shops in Osaka or Tokyo when I was there a couple of months ago. Pricing wise, seems like the Japanese consumers are getting a rough end of the pricing range. I take it the scene is mostly for expats?
  23. Is it unreasonable to hope for some unique designs in a game which is supposed to be character driven?
  24. Missed opportunity to make some helmet-less face sculpts or at least unique helmet sculpts. I can generally field all these models from my existing collection. No female sculpt, no pet or dog model. I should at least hope that the Aether-khemist looks unique enough to differentiate him the current version. Not going to lie, this feels like a bit of a letdown.
