  1. The book is full of lore inconsistencies. Personally I am choosing to ignore most of it and stick with the idoneth as presented in the battletome. I imagine the Lumineth tome will at least touch on the relationship between Teclis and the idoneth. You can question how many Idoneth even know that Teclis wanted to destroy them. The idoneth reveal trailer appears to be narrated by Teclis and he doesn't exactly seem ashamed of them. Teclis made them without thinking about the consequences, decided he didn't like what he got and thought it was perfectly acceptable to wipe them all out. I don't really see how the idoneth are any worse than most order factions. The cities of sigmar make war for profit, so do the Duradin factions, the sylvaneth kill those who come into their woods. Even the stormcasts are quite happy to wipe whole cities of people out. In fact most idoneth only kill to survive and would be perfectly happy staying under the sea if they could. In my view they have the most justified reason for killing out of any army. Plus normal killing sends your soul to shyish where most of the time nagash grabs it and makes you into a slave. Far better to be "reincarnated" as an Aelf than to serve as a mindless thrall for all eternity.
  2. I don't think anyone is capable of putting that kind of pressure on them. Anyway I'm glad Teclis is as ugly on the outside as he is on the inside.
  3. The eidolon is my favourite model in warhammer. It looks really dramatic but isn't over the top fiddly and can still be transported fairly easily. Teclis looks too easy to break, that's my only criticism.
  4. The big irritating add that kept covering the front page on my mobile seems to have gone. How I am getting the standard banner ad and the occasional Google ads in between posts. On pc I am ad blocking so can only comment on mobile. Anyway its a lot less obtrusive now than it was on Saturday.
  5. I reckon seraphon will probably go up for preorder in the next couple of weeks. There is nothing else for aos we're expecting now the latest Warcry stuff is up.
  6. I get needing ads, that's fine. It's mostly the big one that pops right up in your face when you are using a mobile that's annoying. It takes up quite a bit of the screen and is more of a pop up than anything. I also got loads of ads about tax returns and one for some sort of ****** anime? Normally on other sites I just get get stuff like element games. The previous adverts were unobtrusive, it just seems to be a bit far now. Obviously I can just ad block and it's no problem, but I would white list the site if it toned down a bit as I do get needing to cover costs. Personally I won't subscribe due to my own experiences, but I think it's fair enough to have an ad free site require that.
  7. I came on the site this morning and there is a massive drop down advert at the top and new advert boxes around the page. They are really in your face. I didnt want to ad block at first because it was all hobby related and I won't mind supporting the forum. I will be ad blocking from now on. I wanted to give feedback so the site owners can consider rolling back the changes.
  8. How many spells do you guys think Teclis will cast? I reckon 5 or 6 myself.
  9. I hope they are on 32mm, they look nicer and with 2 inch range should be good still. Plus I imagine that they will have a 4 or even 3 up save. Nemarti have a 5 up, 1 inch range and the buffs designed to support them have ranges that are too restrictive to allow you to run 30. Lots of units do fine on 32mm, fyreslayers for example.
  10. If I get Teclis, which I may not do on account of him being a genocidal maniac, I would look at magnatising that. No idea how it will fit in a case without breaking.
  11. Maggotkin, DoK, LoN and Idoneth are not 2.0 battletomes. They are more like 1.5. LoN may not receive an update on the basis they are old kits which are being phased out. DoK are strong, but that as mostly due to things like their auras not being wholly within. Also a lot of the new kits that were made especially for DoK (looking at blood stalkers and khinerai with melee weapons) are basically unplayable. Idoneth are relatively strong, but highly restricted to using morsarr guard. The points decrease on sharks may have helped a bit, I'm experimenting, but many of the kits are terrible rules wise. Intended synergies, such as the soulrender and thralls, just don't work in practice. You also have old design choices such as volty and the leviadon triggering on 6+. Seeing as most lists run geminds these abilities are useless. Non-eel idoneth are probably a bottom tier army. Both DoK and Idoneth have terrible battalions that are fairly unplayable. I know that maggotkin are hurting a bit too. Their demons are really poor in particular. I'm not enough of an expert to give any insight. Even 2.0 Nighthaunt and Stormcast need some love. Legion of Grief has helped nighthaunt a bit, but all their units are basically better in LoN or grief than in their own tome. Stormcast, like it or not, are the poster children of aos. They too have a book with quite poor internal balance. Even their best lists are really struggling now. So personally I would be happy if they just kept updating new books. Buying a new rulebook every 2 years seems reasonable to be and the best way to stop armies becoming stagnent.
  12. I suspect we might get another centrepiece model. If you look at recent new armies there have normally been two big kits. Idoneth - Eidolon and leviadon Gloomspite - Mangler and Troggboss Bonereapers - Mortarch and Catapult Lumineth - Teclis +??? Hopefully a dragon? Presumably they will need some generic heroes too. Probably one military guy and one wizard at the least. Unlikely to see more than two named characters. I would think the spears might have another build option with swords possibly?
  13. Thead for discussion as we now have the official name.
  14. Is it because they are ****** just like their dad?
  15. Well I like the spearmen. If they have nice mortek guard level rules and can be allied into idoneth I'll be happy. Good objective sitters while the eels do the work. I really hope the lore of these guys isn't just "they are perfect high elves" and then idoneth are left as is. Teclis clearly has poor taste given he wanted to kill the idoneth but allowed a creepy cat lady to be his "mount".
  16. I don't know why you would bother faking something like that. The cost to produce it all is probably more than it's worth. I reckon it might have been a tester model that they didn't go for.
  17. GW are using the same companies to produce this stuff, like "wargames factory". Presumably you could search based on the exporting company and find everything that way? Unless they hide stuff by calling it unrelated names, but if that was the case we wouldn't have found any of this stuff. I also searched "idoneth" and "deepkin" to no avail. So no endless spells for us any time soon...
  18. Seems really odd to me, unless there are going to be 4 or 5 new kits that are all giant. I don't really see how they would work as a standalone army. I suppose for starters giving them a rule for capturing objectives, like Ogors... Eh seems legit though so I suppose we will see.
  19. I'm surprised Icegoat hasn't popped in to confirm seraphon as being squatted. GW would never have given them a rules revamp in GHB 19 if they were being squatted. They were also one of the first battletomes for age of sigmar. If anything I expect that seraphon will get a larger release. Maybe similar to DoK where a few kits are added to the existing range.
  20. What I want to see: Dragon of some sort. Infantry unit similar to swordmasters. Maybe a nice wizard with high movement I could ally into idoneth. What I don't want: Annoying scenery piece that is hard to transport. Models which break easily. Cool models with bad rules that never get played.
  21. One day you'll see. I'll get my endless spells and who'll be laughing then? Your little "meme" will be over and the time of the d3 mortal wounds 18 inch effective range generic fish spell will be nigh.
  22. I honestly don't have any issue winning games. I am confident in my ability to win games regardless of which army I play, though obviously if I was going to a lot of major tournaments that wouldn't be the case. The difference is that 40k has always been the same game over those 18 years, but aos is a totally different game to WHFB. I also don't hate WHFB. I liked the lore of WHFB at the time and had WHFB armies. I didn't like the rules of WHFB or how impenetrable / toxic the community became. I want aos to be it's own game, with it's own lore and it's own identity. What I do hate is the group of players from WHFB who have wanted aos to fail from the beginning. Those who regularly went on rants, in person and online, about how stupid the game I was enjoying is. Who go on and on about how stupid my army is. Those who continue to spread rumours about new armies selling badly. If it was up to me would I squat a lot more stuff? Yes I would. But I'd also make a lot more new aos armies to replace them. I'm not in charge of ****** though, so you can rest easy 😉
  23. CoS is an incredibly competitive army. Also counter question, instead of waiting for a battletome for an army that was a carry over why not buy an army designed for the game? If you don't like aos armies then why play aos? I don't mean that as a personal attack, they are the questions I pose to many of the posters. I don't mean the newer the army the better it should be. Just that armies released since 2015 should be the ones the game is designed for, while those prior to 2015 should be seen more as "legacy". I agree about the balance though, its very hit and miss as to which armies end up on top. Anyway this is going to be my last reply. I think it's evident that the majority are against what I'm saying, at least on this forum. I do hope that GW try to improve balance in general either way.
