I can well imagine that the original plan was to have one out - maximising the gain on the Warcry warbands and also getting AoS all onto Battletomes for Christmas sales. GW might still surprise us of course, but I can't see it easily happening. Even getting Ogres to fit in is going to be tight.

  2. So I don’t play so I’m sure the list is hot garbage. It does allow me to squeeze in things I like for the theme: AoS styled Araby. Magi that make use of djinn and elemental powers.

    No spells have been selected and I’m sure I could swap out the eternal guard for more freeguild guard, opening up another 100pts.

    So you’re paying 90pts for 4x sorc (one is on a dragon) and then another 140pt for them to be whitefire retinue? 

    I thoughth the point of battalions was that you bought into it, the price of it includes that you take the models with it, not that it is a tax on top of what you normally pay for

    Nomad, sorc on BD, 3x sorc. = 5 leaders, then your paying for more hero wizards in the battalion.

    so unless I’m not understanding, it looks like you’re paying twice for the and stuff?

    I just want to understand so I can work on my list. I see the battalion as your paying for min/max on the wizards, which come at a great discount. They also contribute to your “leader” allotment (which would be awesome if that’s not right)

  5. How’s everyone’s list building going?

    I’ll admit I’m at a bit of a disadvantage, not playing I am not sure of synergies. But from looking over the book I do wish there was something added for battleline if taken a specific hero for hallowheart.

    I know I’d like to include sisters of the watch. But not sure it’s worth using a leader slot to make them battleline. With that then I would feel like I’d have to take eternal guard and keep the leader close to both units for the bonus. Might be hard to do if the tactic with sisters is to endless spell bridge them around.

    I also feel like guard with shields is a pretty safe choice

    what is everyone’s thoughts on battle line? 

    Also is anyone considering the 1/4 unit for SCE?

  6. After thinking on all the previews I feel like HallowHeart works best for my army theme.

    I am a modeler and haven’t played a game of AoS but I’d like to build a list that works in game as a way to work towards something to use for play.

    The army is what I would imagine as a AoS-ified “Araby”. By this it would use a lot magic and uses elementals and djinn. Ideally they would be from Hysh, but for now the HallowHeart rules work.

    Ideally I would like to include some combination of the following.

    no idea what I’d use as heroes.

    White Fire Retinue - Magi council

    Flamespyre Phoenix - Fire elemental/ efreet

    Froatheart Phoenix - Ice elemental/ efreet

    Sisters of the watch - magic/ elemental bows

    Phoenix Guard/ blackguard/ or great swords - 2 handed heavy hitter unit

    Need some ideas for which  spear or sword shield type could be used for chaff

    I’ve also been working on a Djinn for awhile now, kinda settled he would probably best be represented as a celestant prime. So hoping this center piece model could be squeezed in.

  7. I like it. A lot. Wish both hands didn’t have rocks in them though haha.

    I wonder if pumping all this Warcry stuff out is to double for a StD battletome release. By then all they would need is to drop endless spells and terrain because all this stuff will be included in a more formal way in the book.

    i also like that at least the clops was smart enough to cover his eye! Would like to see alternate head option too

  8. Glad to hear sisters of the watch are decent. I was hoping to use them as a part of my AoS-Ified “Araby” army that focuses on magic and elementals, for now using HallowHeart rules.

    Need to figure out if my djinn should still be a celestant prime, how I can include one and how many phoenixes I can squeeze in as elementals

  9. I wonder why some version of Lethisian Defenders weren’t included? 

    On that same note, why they didn’t try to include one or two new cities from realms that don’t have representation?

    as it is right now, every city has to be set in its realm, naturally, but would have liked some smaller thing to allow you to pick a realm an artifact a spell and city/ army attribute.

  10. I’d like to know a little more about the HallowHeart battalion.

    • +1 to cast and unbinding rolls if they're within 6" of a friendly wizard from this battalion.

    How does this exactly work? If you are already sinking points to have 2-4 wizards in this group is it really worth it? That is if it doesn’t just work on the wizard unit themselves?

    what is everyone’s thoughts about the HallowHeart magic resistance save roll?

    I am seeing more people include lord arcanum as generals, can we take any of the stormcast heroes/ characters as heroes/generals (provided it’s not specific to one particular city)?

    But doesn’t this ability kinda counteract the effectiveness of the other benefit? Coupled with what others said about how conditional it is, where to get the perk you need something to die. I’d rather have constant bonus than to depend on loss for a trigger. 

    Like the one city that gets extra movement is great but for first turn only, while good. I would rather then cut the bonus movement in half and just have it always work.

    Olynder was mentioned. Because she killed the celestant prime in the last campaign, but it may be unclear where the hammer is?

    either way maybe he will eventually get a rules update sometime in the future 🤷‍♂️
