Abilities allowing Pile ins of more than 3 inches

Easytyger

Question

Can someone explain when you would use a unit's ability to pile in more than 3 inches?

From my understanding you cannot pile in if you are not within 3 inches of an enemy model. So say I have a unit that can pile in 6 inches that successfully charges a unit but models from the enemy unit are removed making that unit more than 3 inches from my unit I can't pile in and attack even if it's within 6 inches. Is that right?

Or if another of my units is charged and when the the charging enemy unit moves he is now within 6 inches but more than 3 inches away can I pile in?

Those abilities specify if you ignore the 3" rule. Remember you can pile-in if you successfully charged, regardless of casualty removal or similar meaning you aren't in range.
But a 6" pile-in move gives you more flexibility on how you can move, particularly against larger foes.
