Death Abilities - Deathless Minions and Undead Minions

Jimbo

Question

Can a necromancer take a Deathless Minions save and then if he fails it, take an Undead Minions roll to pass it onto another death unit within 3"?

If so , does the unit the wound is passed to get a Deathless Minions save as well?

If so, and the second unit is also a necromancer, can they then use Undead Minions roll to bounce the wound back to the first necromancer who can then get a Deathless Minions save and an Undead Minons roll to bounce it back to the second necromancer...rinse and repeat?

This was the mechanism behind a making dual Tomb Heralds invulnerable, before they errata'd it (because Tomb Heralds don't roll — they just transfer the wound automatically).

With Necromancers, sooner or later you'll fail an "Undead Minions" roll, if you don't pass a "Deathless Minions" roll first. The odds of passing an "Deathless Minions" roll first will be 1/3 + 1/9 + 1/27… I believe that converges on 50/50. Which is pretty good, but not game-breaking, and it means you can't pass the wound off to a zombie instead.
