Ben
When i was looking at weathering my storm cast I googled Horus Heresy marine painting guides. This is what I ended up going with. I used sponges, washes and technical paints. Its all really basic out of the pot soloutions but makes a good final effect.

In Victorian times, close relatives wore black for the first year following a death ("deep mourning") , and then replaced it with purple or dark green trimmed with black. This is rarely practised today. (Wikipedia knowledge, but sounds about right, logical at least) Aah cool, didnt think of checking wikipedia haha! Well purple most definitely a possibility. As long as I can get it to look old and worn without just looking like a bad paintjob!
