Stormcast Drakes and base removal in combat

Seeking ur opinion.   I played a stormcast w 2 units of 4 stormdrake dragons. The terrain was extremely tall towers, taller than his dragons by at least 6 inches, that basically formed a funnel. I purposely took the side that forced him into the funnel to get at my giants. My intent was to use the terrain to limit the number of dragons hitting me since they are big w their wings.  I put the giants on each side next to the terrain. When he charged in he removed the dragons off the stands that allowed for all 4 to get into each one, where if the models stayed on the base only 2 would get in. I weathered the storm and won the game but is that allowed?

Yes it is allowed. It's all about the base (except when it comes to line of sight)
