Fyreslayers army blog

The Brotherhood of Necros

Recommended Posts

I’ve spent several months planning and getting the parts I wanted for a small Fyreslayers army.

I love their lore but I’m not into the vast majority of the models. I’ve tried to build an army around the models I like. For me, the hobby is converting and modelling, and when I have a picture in my head I try hard to bring it to life, so expect lots of customisation.

To begin with, meet Fyrequeen Magda 🔥

She will play as a Runefather.

Her base is too large (40) but I only really play casual games against my old man so this is fine.

I hope you like her.

My first five Vulkites.

I tried to capture a more squat, muscle-bound look for my naked dwarfs. I used Darkoath Savagers torsos for this.

I’m not a huge fan of the crested helmets, so there are none of these across my army.

I can’t get enough of the Votann heads/faces, which to my mind reflect everything that is dwarven. I’ve used them for almost every figure.

For Grimnir! 🔥

My small unit of Hearthguard Berserkers. 🔥 Magda’s royal retinue.

These guys needed to look elite and solid, like they could go toe-to-toe with a horde of daemons and hold their own.

I also wanted to make sure they looked distinct from the Vulkites.

I loved using the Votann heads again. I hoped bigger beards and capes would set them apart.

Runedottirs. Flamekeepers. Matrons of fire and ash.

Five counts-as Hearthguard Berserkers to accompany Freyr Magdadottir, Keeper of the Flame.

They are made from Grimnyr bodies, Warcry robes, Votann heads, and axes from the Longbeards kit.

Hymns on their lips, they crush their foes with hammer and with axe.
