Hello, everyone! I've been haunting these forums for some time without ever signing up to post anything or reply, but next month is a small 2k event at my FLGS.

I've come up with a couple of lists, and I'd love to have some input from people with more games under their belts than I.

Lores of the Dead Spell 1 : Fading Vigour (Deathmages)

I like #3 and #1 best of these, but I am open to suggestions. I also have *lots* of models swap out if I need to, so any comments or criticisms would be appreciated!

Thanks!

#1 seems like an auto loss vs. many objectives and armies. There's simply not enough bodies.

#2 seems best. 40 skellies is key, dire wolves allow for key decisions via speed.

#3 is also good, but units of 10 skellies are so worthless in combat and slow. Everything has to go right.

You could take #1 but I would drop Prince Vhordrai in all these lists, he is just too expensive and you already have Nagash.

#1 Lose Prince, Add 40 skeletons, tweek from there.

Also, the First Cohort battalion is going to help Nagash survive in the tougher matchups (i.e. ranged or MW spam Tzeentch etc.) by letting him give damage to Morghasts.

That battalion is expensive so you need to flood the board with bodies for your best chances to win. (IMO)

--------------------

I think this is where non The First Cohort lists should start:

Nagash Supreme Lord Of The Undead (800)
- General
Necromancer (110)
40 x Skeleton Warriors (280)
- Ancient Blades
40 x Skeleton Warriors (280)
- Ancient Blades
5 x Dire Wolves (60)
2 x Morghast Harbingers (220)
- Spirit Halberds
Total: 1750 / 2000

Single block of 40 skellies seems almost necessary, and you could drop the other but you need bodies of some kind.

Lots of flex points left over to build how you want.

------------------

Here's a starting place with The First Cohort:

Nagash Supreme Lord Of The Undead (800)
- General
Necromancer (110)
40 x Skeleton Warriors (280)
- Ancient Blades
40 x Skeleton Warriors (280)
- Ancient Blades
2 x Morghast Harbingers (220)
- Spirit Swords
The First Cohort (160)
Total: 1850 / 2000

Extra pts need to fill another Skeleton/Black Knight/GG unit.

You could go:

5 GG +( Dire Wolves or Wraith)

5 Black Knights for speed

Drop some skeletons down to whatever number (whatever you own) and rethink the army from there.

Necro is a flex spot, his spell is awesome but maybe you just need the 100 pts.

Balewind also doesn't seem that useful nor does Corpse Cart IMO - Nagash is already a strong caster.

Necro doesn't need Balewind, in fact he really doesn't need to do anything. Just survive, provide deathless minions to some skeletons and give Nagash Vanhel's.

my nagash list was:

800  nagash

110  necro

280  40 skellis

440     4 morghast

80     10 skellis

120     5 black knights

160    -first cohort-

Necro hiding in the skellis, nagash smashing forward with his harbringers, 10 skellis base guarding and the black knights as outriders...

missing out on the extra artifact, but well, can´t have everything. nagash had the orb, transference and the -1 to wound, -1 dmg spell, the necro with overwhelming dread.

Had nice games with that, but the ultra grind list from adepticon is out there (Nagash, 40 skellis, 40skellis, 30 Graveguard...)

What's the benefit of 5 GG? They seem worse than 10 skeletons, even with shields.

Allegiance: Grand Host of Nagash

Leaders
Nagash Supreme Lord Of The Undead (800)
- General
- Lores of the Dead Spell 1: Overwhelming Dread (Deathmages)
- Lores of the Dead Spell 2: Fading Vigour (Deathmages)
- Lores of the Dead Spell 3: Vile Transference (Vampires)
Necromancer (110)
- Artefact: Grave-sand Timeglass
- Lore of the Deathmages: Decrepify
Cairn Wraith (60)
- Artefact: Terrorghiest Mantle

Battleline
40 x Skeleton Warriors (280)
- Ancient Spears
40 x Skeleton Warriors (280)
- Ancient Spears
2 x Morghast Archai (220)
- Halberds
- Grand Host of Nagash Battleline (Nagash General)
5 x Grave Guard (80)
- Wight Blades & Crypt Shields
- Grand Host of Nagash Battleline

Battalions
The First Cohort (160)

Total: 1990 / 2000
Allies: 0 / 400
Wounds: 122

How's that look? The only thing I might switch out is the Terrorgheist mantle for the crown - but a 4 wound model probably won't survive long enough to be much use with it.

If you are guaranteed to bring  back 3 models with regen, bringing back GG is better than skellies.

If your opponent's weak group only kills a few GG each turn, that is bad news for them. 5 GG isn't scary but might put out better damage than 10 skelly.

Just try it out.

Also @Vortaine I like the new list.
