Trav
Hi all, starting a slow grow campaign to build and paint a unit a month building a 1000 point force. Never played with or against death, can I please get some advice on which force might be best/most fun to play? vampire lord necromancer 2x20 skeletons 10 graveguard 10 black knights or wight king with axe 2x30 skeletons 10 graveguard 10 black knights first list has a vampire and necromancer but smaller skeleton units, second has just the one character but bigger skeleton units. Any help would be appreciated, we need to start working on our first units now! cheers
AverageBoss
Just a pointer on skeletons. The best way to run them is either as 40 man units with spear + shield, or 10 man units with sword + shield. A 30 man unit with spears is better than 3 separate 10 man units with swords. Never run a 20 man unit. Further, basic skeletons tend to out perform Graveguard and especially Black Knights at the moment (sadly). Out of the 3 units mentioned, your basic skeleton are going to get the most work done for you. That being said, sticking only to the models above, I would recommend a list somewhere between the 2. Probably: Allegiance: DeathVampire Lord (140)- GeneralNecromancer (110)40 x Skeleton Warriors (280)- Ancient Spear & Shield10 x Skeleton Warriors (80)- Ancient Blade & Shield10 x Skeleton Warriors (80)- Ancient Blade & Shield10 x Grave Guard (160)- Wight Blades & Crypt Shields5 x Black Knights (120)Total: 970 / 2000Allies: 0 / 400Wounds:
Trav
Thanks for the advice regarding skeletons. A larger unit definitely maximises their bonus., especially backed up by necromancer and debuffung vampire lord
