Thrall Warhost Question

Just a quick question about the Thrall Warhost ability that came up in a game today. My friend has Dark Elves and the Thrall Warhost and in the battle his SoBD was within 3" of my Liberators and tried to use thrall ability to charge another opponents Plague Drones. Would that be legal? We came to the decision that since it was the Hero phase the model could still attempt the charge, is that correct?

Actually, I think you may be incorrect.  Thrall Warhost states that the unit can "charge as if it were the charge phase," and the rules for the charge phase state that "you may not pick a unit that ran or retreated this turn, nor one that is within 3" of the enemy."  So in your example the sorceress would not have been allowed to charge the Plague Drones, but she could still be picked to pile in and attack the Liberators with Thrall Warhost.

Ahh nice good logic there. In the end it didnt matter as she wiffed the charge, couldnt pile in far enough for most of her attacks, and got charged and murdered by Celestant Prime in my turn
