Retreating when base to base.

If models are base to base, the minimum retreat distance is 4" isn't it?  As a roll of a 3 still has you in pile in or combat range

But you also get your standard move. You're only accounting for the run roll.

Hmm… does that mean a Casket of Souls can only retreat on a 2+? I hadn't considered that before, though I can't think of anything else that slow off the top of my head.

In order to retreat with something using a movement value of 2" (such as the Casket of Souls), and being right up on the enemy base, you would need to make a run move during your retreat and roll high enough  to move you outside of 3" from all enemy models.  But if you are simply within 3" but not right up on the enemy base you may still be able to retreat without actually needing to run at all.
