I like this one. Good to see people changing it up more. I have something similar for Pyrofane/Witchfyre. I didnt like the idea of being forced to take Enlightened though so i dropped them down to the minimum in favor of putting the points in other places.

    Thanks for your reply! :)

The idea behind the 6 Enlightened and the Shaman is, to have a highly mobile hammer that can reach almost any place of the board within one turn  to threaten objectices, attack support pieces or gunlines. With the rest of the army I would try to build a castle near the center of the board, backed up with summoned  Horrors and/or Flamers.

  2. Good evening fellow Disciples!

I am right now in the process of painting up a nice little Tzeentch Arcanites army and want to order the last things I need to complete 2000 points. Now I am in trouble as I do not know what exactly I want to play, so I would like to ask you for suggestions. Below you can find two different lists, one being a Pyrofane Cult list, the other one being Cult of the Transient Form. I am well aware that both are not highly competitive lists, but this si also not my goal, I just want to play a cool looking army that is not completely useless in wars across the Mortal Realms. ;)

I would really appreciate suggestions for optimization (unit choices, artifacts, spells etc.) and am happy about any answer I get! :)

    So here they are:

    Allegiance: Tzeentch
    - Change Coven: Pyrofane Cult

    Leaders
    Kairos Fateweaver (400)
    - Lore of Change: Tzeentch's Firestorm
Magister on Disc of Tzeentch (140)
    - General
    - Command Trait: Shrouded in Unnatural Flame
    - Artefact: Chainfire Amulet
    - Lore of Fate: Arcane Suggestion
    The Changeling (140)
    - Lore of Change: Treason of Tzeentch
    Tzaangor Shaman (150)
    - Lore of Fate: Shield of Fate
    Changecaster, Herald of Tzeentch (110)
    - Artefact: Aspect of Tzeentch
    - Lore of Change: Arcane Transformation

    Battleline
    10 x Kairic Acolytes (100)
    30 x Kairic Acolytes (300)
    10 x Kairic Acolytes (100)

    Units
    6 x Tzaangor Enlightened on Disc (360)

    Battalions
    Witchfyre Coven (160)

Endless Spells / Terrain / CPs
    Tome of Eyes (40)

    Total: 2000 / 2000
    Extra Command Points: 1
    Allies: 0 / 400
    Wounds: 110

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Allegiance: Tzeentch
    - Change Coven: Cult of the Transient Form

    Leaders
    Kairos Fateweaver (400)
    - Lore of Change: Tzeentch's Firestorm
Magister on Disc of Tzeentch (140)
    - Lore of Fate: Shield of Fate

    Tzaangor Shaman (150)
    - General
    - Command Trait: Defiant in their Pursuit
    - Artefact: Chaotica Amulet

Similar question to already asked, I have the Tzeentch half of Aether War.

Would the new battleforce box be a good buy to expand what I already have?

    Thanks

If you want to play Tzeentch Mortals + Big Chicken then it is the absolute perfect fit! :)

  4. I am really curious where this "demand" that Sisters will work like Evocaters comes from?

With the new rules they will work almost the same as Kurnoth Hunters, with a 3+ instead of a 4+, and with a much bigger model count/unit. From my experience with Kurnoth Hunters this just works out fine and is a much better play experience for the opponent than Evocaters, as they have just ZERO counterplay, so from my perspective they should be changed to match Kurnoths (and now Blood Sisters) not the other way around.

    Thoughts?

I think it is really light on bodies. Depending on what you face, it will not be possible to keep Alarielle screened for 3 turns, against heavy shooting, she dies Turn 1 (if you deploy her to the board, reserves is key).

Overall I guess it is sad but true that Alarielle is not an overly competitive choice in an army that is not overly competitve positioned right now. :D

  6. Hi folks,

I have one question: If I fight with a Durthu VS Hermdar Hearthguar Berzerkers, is it true that my stomp will never do anything against his CA?

(Command Ability: start of combat phase pick one friendly VKB or HGB unit wholly within 12” of Hermdar hero, the unit fights at start of the combat phase before other players)

If he charges me, he can fight first before I stomp and if I charge him, I stomp him  and he activates the CA afterwards and fights first anyway...

I will give the link directly, but again, the list composition os likely unimportant. what’s important is that you likely had it in the hands of somebody who knew what he/she was  doing with it:

    https://www.belloflostsouls.net/2020/06/aos-list-of-the-week-sylvaneth-harvesting-victory.html

    Thanks!

I just wanted to see it for inspiration. ;)

Personally I do not like these extreme Hunter spam lists, but I am a fan of Durthu + Crown of Fell Bowers.

    @Sleepa

Harvestboon won a major tournament back in June, but literally nobody has talked anything about Harvestboon  before or even after that tournament.  People seem just convinced Sylvaneth don’t win tournaments or that that there are only 1-2 viable ways to play them.

I am curious what major tournament you are talking about, would you mind to elaborate and perhaps even give a link/list inforamtion? :)

    Would really appreciate it!

  9. + Very big variety of viable/playable factions in semi-competitive environments

    + Constant output from GW

+ 99% of the new models are absolutely stunning!

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    - Bad internal balancing of newer Battletomes (Petrifex, Eternal Conflagration etc)

    - I hate the activation wars, from my point of view this should never have been a widespread thing.

    - I do not understand why the whole GHB package (Book, additional point changes, Errata & FAQ) can not get released all on one day.

...an AOS style brettonia releases would be a sell out.

Sorry to say it that way, but this just sounds like wishful thinking from a really big fan but would in no way reflect reality.

I myself have like 100 things that would get me WAY MORE excited than medieval knights and if you look at the stuff that gets people most hyped (huge giants, bone constructs etc.) than I think that this feeling is true for a lot of people. :)

I know that it is sad, but a some point it's just time to let go, as much as it may hurt...

AFAIK the company is the second biggest UK one?

No, they are far away from the top. Market capitalization of GeeDubs is around 3.5bln pounds, while even the tenth placed company has 20times as much.

Still the market cap of GW jumped from 2016 at around 150mio to 3.5bln today, which is huge. :)

...and from what I can tell it seems to have never had a female poster or member. Please correct me if I'm wrong  but I've never seen a lady on here.

How do you know if someone is female?! Perhaps I am female!

This presumption that ladies offensively proclaim their femaledom in a forum is quite strange, or does every man tell you upfront that he is male?

Not many changes, Drycha went down to same lvl as Druthu and Kurnonth Hunters (all variants) went down by the bare minimum amount. No changes to other units, batallions or spells.

Where did you get this information?

That is the correct way to play Dreadwood. If you keep your Spiritsong caster out of range of unbinds, then you actually have a pretty good chance of getting the Spiteswarm off first turn. I personally prefer to use Alarielle since she can cast Thone + Hive without the need for an item. She also synnergizes well with the teleport since she can use it on herself as a character.

So note that Kurnoth Hunters are the primary choice for teleport since they can get the charge reroll command ability despite being away from characters. So ideally you would have a rerollable 6 inch charge. (hive is +3). And even if you fail that charge, you still have 6 Hunters in your opponents backfield which has value in itself. Extra points if you teleport them in cover, so they have a 3+ rerollable save if they fail their charge.

    Thanks for your answer. :)

When you say you played Sylvaneth in a couple of tournaments, did you play Dreadwood or Winterleaf?

  15. Hi folks,

I have a couple of questions, as I am right now once more preparing for a little tournament with friends (I pray to Allarielle und Kurnoth that Covid19 will not cancel it 🙄 )

How do people play Dreadwood? I f I look at everything I guess it usually means: Give one caster Spiritsong Stave + Throne of Vines, cast ToV/Hive, hope you do not roll a 1 for your Hunters, teleport the large Hunter blob, pray for the 7" charge. This looks kind of unreliable to  me, as you are very dependent on one succesful spellcast (Hive) and on this one charge (potentially 2-3, depending on how your regular Wyldwood teleporting plays out). Is there anything I miss here, or am I totally wrong in the estimation of the most useful use of teleportation as an alpha strike tool , because the main use is teleporting screens or teleporting units onto an unguarded objective or some other case?

Has anyone tried a gladeless approach with e.g. a Durthu with Warsinger? Compared to the above mentioned Dreadwood, you would lose the very flexible teleporting option but would gain more reliability on your Wylwood teleport units to get off their charges. Additionally, as the Jewel of Withering is imho not a S-Tier artifact, we would gain access to two artifacts of our choice (if we take a batallion, what most people tend to do, I guess), so in the above mentioned example, we could give Durthu Ghyrstrike + Spiritsong Stave on a caster to make that Hive casting more reliable, or if you do not want to take Durthu, we could give a TLA the Vesperal Gem, to guarantee Kurnoth Hunter revives.

    Opinions?

Wrong. Corona has a massive dark figure so the numbers are inflated immensely.

0.3 -1% already takes this into account.

If you look at the "official" numbers released by e.g. the US Government, it shows as roughly 3% (38 deceased out of 1312 recorded infections).

Generally, panic is wrong, but spreading false information also is. :)

That’s a classic example of a basic inductive fallacy. Just because X is good, it does not follow that more X is better and most X is best. That may be the case, but in practice there are always limits.

Yes sure, you are totally right about it! My original post was too one-sided and extreme.

My baseline was just that Hunters are a very important part of our arsenal and I am not a big fan of the TLA. But I should made clear that it is my personal opinion and not consensus of the Sylvaneth community. :)

  18. I think first of all one thing is very clear: Kurnoth Hunters are our bread & butter and the most effective Unit we can take.

So if you are really talking about a 100% competitive list it should max out on Hunters. Because of this, I do not know if there is room for a Treelord Ancient in a 100% competitive list for a Sylvaneth army at the moment, as he does not bring enough to the table.

I guess taking list 3, cutting the Treelord for another Wraith + Outcasts would be the most effective way.

  19. This is quite interesting. The same is with Witchfyre Coven of DoT, where you need "Tzaangor Enlightened". In that case most of the people clearly agreed, that you can use then Enlightened on Discs, so then the same should be true here, meaning you can use ANY AGK for the 2-6. :)
