This. While I am sure "Oathmark" is good, my chances of getting a game of it in my current location in China is zero.

    Plus, Tomb Kings.

Could just bring the rulebook. It's literally 5 minutes to learn the rules.

GW do need competition. The fact people get so emotionally distraught over profit-driven choices of the largest player in the Wargaming space really shows there needs to be some competition. Up to all of use to try other systems. I'm playing oathmark with my cities army- zero investment other than a rulebook needed. It could not be any easier to just try something else.

    Anyway, back to Old World!

I hope you are all wrong 🤣🤣

I prefer an heroic scale game with massive ranks and files and based on campaign books and whatever armies participated in it. With a mix of "grounded" units that you need to buy a lot of them to make big blobs (and you can use your old ones) and over the top ones (ex.: militia near a mechanical steed/demi.gryph knights or some pikeman near flying dudes of catratzza, that type of things...).  Go big, or go home!!

Warmaster 2.0 would be great and there's not really another system like it (i mean there's hundreds of 6/8mm scale systems, but they're usually historical or very old school rules).  However, having 28mm scale would mean a load of cool miniatures for my Cities army! Plus not sure how much I'd enjoy painting 6mm scale stuff.

Just in case anyone has forgotten, when it comes to historical accuracy

Haha. The FB group is a stark reminder of what the hobby used to be like. It really is great that the AoS community is so nice and that GW are really pushing interesting, if controversial, designs for their new forces.

I think a lot of people liked fantasy because it was very old school, very traditional, rank and file.

What i really don't understand is that every single other miniature company currently produces generic elves, dwarves and humans that are cheaper than GW's. There are a load of systems that are much better than fantasy (i'm just getting into Oathmark now). Just go buy some generic fantasy stuff and play with a different system.

What a beautiful collection of models @hughwyeth great stuff! Funny, I have been thinking of doing the Tidecaster to add to my line up of heroes - such an amazing model.

Thanks! It does highlight the progress in plastics- the face is fully detailed and a joy to paint and the rest of the model is beautifully detailed. Plus the pose is such that a zenithal basecoat highlight works really well!

About 1000pts of mortal/beast tzeentch along with half of Aether war. Blightkings for a Blessed Sons nurgle list I want to try. Few bits left for my cities army, including a box of handgunners and a general on griffon. Not seen- Archaon, Verminlord, 80 Plague Monks, Zombie Dragon and 9 Horrors.

I sold a lot of stuff recently so this is quite cut down from it's worse! Really hoping to at least get it all assembled before the end of the lockdown.

Yeah I've always like the look on that. For me t's just a Sticky note with a list of what I have painted and unpainted for each faction. But I'm not organised enough to truly keep track. So every once in a while I update it from memory. Also keep my spending notes per year on that file, which really helps me with excessive spending. So in one look I can see: Bought models, € amount, and painted models.

Maybe i'm going to take this time and put everything into an app like that.

It doesnt take too long when you know the shortcuts to be honest! It's worth doing- they have phone apps too so you can check it from anywhere.

I don't get this pushback about Elves and hammers either to be honest..if it was good enough for Tolkien and middle earth then why is it not fitting enough for Age of Sigmar?

Also they can presumably control rock so why would they use a weapon that wasnt effectively a large rock on a stick?

Also why do elves forever need to abide by the same generic themes for all time? Hundreds of companies pump out generic elves with thin blades etc. Buy them if you want the same thing again and again. Hope they bring out skinny dwarves with katanas just to annoy the internet.

Watching people meltdown because they DARED to explore other themes with elves is giving me life during this pandemic, you guys.

Yeah FB is pretty terrible (as usual i guess). The same crowd wanting new high elves basically. There's 100s of companies pumping out generic elves, cheaper than GW too. They should just buy those. The narrative behind these guys and the mountain spirit are inspired.

  8. I love the aesthetic. It's great to have a unique, AoS specific aesthetic that's not beholden to the old world, which itself is beholden to pretty generic fantasy tropes (I say this as a Cities player who loves that aesthetic!). This is a really unique look for an army and I'm glad GW continue to not play it safe with this stuff.

Spoilpox Scrivener: He provides a minor damage buff to plaguebearers (the unit not the keyword) who pretty much can't do damage even fully buffed due to having 1 base attack with a 1 inch reach no rend, one damage on a 32mm base. Probably the epitome of worthless as I would seriously consider a command point to be worth more points wise.

Yeah and the doot doot plaguebearer guy. They don't buff the plaguebearers in any way that plays to their strengths. They're really nice models too, but I've never seen them played.

  10. So i no longer have taste or smell. I can't taste anything- the sensation of the food is there but zero flavour. I can't even smell whisky, or super spicy sauce, or anything. So one of the few things we can look forward to under lockdown- meals- has been taken away. No idea how long it'll take to come back. Extra misery sauce for me.
