    Changes to magic!

Unbinding at 30" instead of 18", Arcane bolt doing only 1 mw but d3 if the casting roll is 10+ and mystic shield giving re-rolls of 1 instead of +1 save are the big changes!

EDIT: also new magic for all the realms! I'm still not sure how this is going to be implemented, the article talks about different spells being accessible depending on where you fight, so maybe they are extra spells all casters get at the start of the game?

The spell they revealed seems pretty good, basically a deepstrike attached to a casting value 8. It can have its uses for sure!

  2. Honestly without them introducing stratagems how I see command points being introduced would be making things like trying to take initiative on the second and the following turns, activating more than one command ability per turn or being able to alter the charge order (instead of I go, you go have it be I go, I go, you go for example) for one instance cost CPs . Maybe they'll even go further and introduce the reroll and autopass morale for CP too.

It makes sense. It allows for them to still keep things like double turn, alternating charges and such, and they can buff it/nerf it relatively easily by changing the ammount of CP available, the CP cost for each specific thing, etc

I still hope they reduce the importance of battalions and don't tie as much aspects of the game to them, but we will see. I'm guessing one-dropping might be reworked, but CPs and artifacts could still very much be tied to them.

  3. Man I can't wait for more news. I'm definitely buying the new Nighthaunt, but the new edition alone could account for much of the hype I have right now. I imagine they will be teasing us with maps, short snippets of lore and finally the new rules as we get closer to the release date. It will be interesting to see how they handle things like line of sight, measuring base to base or model to model, and how shooting when in combat works (if at all), as well as seeing what they want to do with the command points.

My guess is that command points will be used to trigger command abilities, but how will you earn them? By taking battalions and being legal for matched play? Will artifacts work in a similar fashion than in 40k (in that you pay cp for the extra artifacts) then or will you still be granted an extra artifact for just taking the battalion?

What do you think will come in regards to changes?

That we have a solid year before what's in the new death SC! matters?

A solid year to wait for a start collecting for Nighthaunt, an army that's coming in a month with revamped units, a new battletome and a new edition, all at once?

  5. Since we are getting a new Mortarch (it's a her, possibly a returning character like Khalida or someone entirely new?) I'd expect the new start collecting to come with 5 those Skaven (or whatever they are) spectres, about 10 of the new battleline looking dudes and the Mortarch. Optionally, the mounted Knight of Shrouds may be replacing the Mortarch in the box. What are your thoughts?

Soooo... if I were to get a malignants start collecting in preparation, are they the same as nighthaunt, or completely different?

Who knows? I'd wait until all the new stuff comes honestly. We still don't know if the Mortis will get the Nighthaunt keyword or not, so it's not a safe bet, and we also don't know how good Hexwraiths and Spirit Hosts will be with the new book and new edition.

  7. Hey at least aelfs still have some iconic characters, others races such as the orruks have lost them all. Plus it's not a bad thing, because it 1) connects the Idoneth directly with Teclis, giving them a reason to hold a grudge (if you care about lore) and 2) allows for leaders to appear that can be a better fit for the faction instead of having to develop the faction around specific named characters.

Could someone translate those rules on the warscroll ?

I don't know that much french but from what I can see it says something about the damage characteristic of one weapon and d3 and charge, so maybe his weapon changes his damage characteristic similar to how a blood knight does it from a 2 to a D3, and it also says something about reroll 1s to hit. The second ability talks about rerolls to wound I think for friendly Idoneth at 9" or less. The last ability gives you the ability to choose an enemy hero with 8 or less wounds and he gets -1 to hit in the next combat phase (the hero has to be at 3" or less from your model).

EDIT: sorry, I reread that and it says he rerolls 1s to hit and adds 1 to his damage characteristic on the Spear weapon. The second part with the D3 thing I can't make out.

EDIT 2: I think it says he can run and charge? and then the damage of the spear is d3 if you do that. But don't quote me on that, my french is not that good :P

  9. Nagash's great work won't directly lead to Slannesh escaping, but as noted on the purple ball thing reveal the winds of magic are starting to go wild due to Nagash tampering with them to accomplish his plan. In a way that will most likely lead to the weakening of Slannesh's entrapment, which I assume is magical.  Apart from that, draining Slannesh from his souls may be strengthening him, since the only reason it was captured was because it became bloated from all the souls it consumed.

That's at least what I assume will lead to the Dark Prince escaping. But of course it's still a long way ahead, first comes Death and whatever Nagash is doing.

  10. It's possible they will update the current models for soulblight, considering most of them are ugly metal pieces that don't really belong in Age of Sigmar. I mean, just look at the dire bats and the bat swarms or the price for the ugly Blood Knights... Soulblight getting updated models just makes sense.

EDIT: Oh and I feel Soulbight is definitely inside of Mannfred's Allegiance while we are it.

  11. oooh this interesting. So I guess this character will narrate the whole thing as something that happened that caused him to take sides, as he says he had no stake in the wars before. As an aside, where have I listened to this song before? It's so familiar.
