I think a grey drybrush would go very well with those bases (prior to painting in the blue lines). Currently being all black-on-black from a distance you can't tell he's on a tile/stone floor. Another option you can use (if you don't want the floor to look stoney but black) is to use a different colour on the rim of the base. Grey, brown or even green could be good 'muted' colour choices that blend well with most tables. This will allow the black stones to 'show' more easily.
