This was a comment on facebook from the Age of Sigmar guys about the Ghouls and how they would relate to the Nagash book.

"The Flesh Eater courts have a complicated relationship with the Lord of Death, and while they do fight alongside other Death warriors, they aren't part of Nagash's shambling undying legion"

Anyway I really like this. Squishing factions into more thematic ones makes a lot more sense. I hope this is just a start for things to come and we get Skaven, High Elves and Free Peoples books that does the same thing,

A bit of a shame, but I can't say it comes as a shock. FEC's have less need of an overhaul and already have a battletome so if something had to be cut for wordcount it figures it would be their Warscrolls. (I mean, I'd have liked new command abilities for the Abhorrants and some way to protect courtiers from ranged sniping but eh, can't have everything.)

I do hope it'll be possible to include them in some of the new factions though. Don't see why Mannfred wouldn't have ghouls in his army.

  2. People have been comparing the Mortarch allegiance abilities to those of the Cities in Firestorm. This seems pretty sensible; having clutches of different factions united by a theme associated with that Mortarch.

Although I hope we get Abhorash/Blood Dragon and Ushoran/Carrion King allegiances eventually. I suppose the good point about Mortarch-based allegiances are that there's much more obvious room for expansions at future dates that don't involve having to invent entirely new forms of undead monster.

Isn’t stagnation part of Nurgles thing? That’s why Tzeentch and Nurgle are opposed.

To be metaphorically precise, Nurgle is Entropy. Which is why he's simultaneously about both life/change and eventual annihilation in the heat-death-of-the-universe sense.

But yeah, this is the rumour thread so rumours: Seems like Malign Portents is either going to focus on Nurgle vs Death or else they're at least tying in all the released together. On the other hand we know the incoming Black Library books focus on "soul wars" which suggests a conflict with Order, since that's Nagash's whole beef with Sigmar, that he's supposedly 'poaching' souls due to Nagash to make Stormcasts.

I think that many vehicles would be awesome for Age of Sigmar in general, be it floating ships or flying monsters being able to carry models from A to B.

The prime reason why I'd love something like it is because it was never really possible in WFB but AoS would seperate itself more and more if it went to maximize the fact of placement and "teleporting/transporting" :) .

A flying Death transport unit would be interesting, especially with something like Flesh Eater Courts units, where their normal weakness is getting their heroes sniped by ranged units before they can get to melee range. Alas it seems like it's not to be.

:P Well GW is missing their own boat then!

I mean, come up with Wraithfleet, tease a Ship, then come back and say that they won't do it... What would the point be to go in that naval direction just to not flesh it out? I mean they have done that before and the same fans of undead pirates where somewhat dissapointed at it not happening either (Lustria).

Yeah it's a shame. Not so much the pirate theme specifically, but ghost ships seem like they'd be an awesome addition to the game in general and would've fit with a lot of the fluff they've been pushing recently. (Wraith Fleet etc.) As you say, it seems like GW missed a trick there.

I'm always excited for new AoS stuff!  Glad death is getting a look in!  Two questions, what are 'Darkoath' units and what are the Heralds?

The Darkoath seem to basically a tribe of mostly unmutated humans who worship Chaos. Like the Chaos Marauders/Norscans of old Warhammer.

    Dear gawd please no.

A real strength of AoS has been it's creative spins on things.  Copying the 40k path would be lame.

Deathcast Eternals... on the one hand I'd really prefer something more original. On the other hand something aesthetically in that mould would be a good way to update Tomb Kings for the more pulpy over the top aesthetic of Age of Sigmar.
