  1. I did forget to include the command ability given that it is conditional and maybe the CPs would go somewhere else. Even accounting for that my MathHammer app has him going up to 2.5 which to me is still not representative of the lore description. I also am not counting the cloak ability ( not that it is unimportant) but its only happening on your turn and he could very well die after using it once if your opponent gets a double turn. Point being if you could take him with a shield you would every single time, his sword should have the Lord Veritant and Lord Aquilors Profile/ (Think they are the same in name and profile or at least they are similar).
  2. On a charge he is averaging 1.8 wounds against a 4+ save unit. A whirling engine of destruction he is not. I think the argument is one from a lore perspective. He just doesn't make sense, none of the celestants do in my opinion, they are supposed to be the greatest hand to hand warriors in the Stormhosts and that just doesn't come across on the table top. By all means if they hit harder raise their points, I dont think anyone would argue that.
  3. Trying to decide how to paint my Dracoths' I'd love to hear your recipes that anyone has settled on for theirs.
  4. I actually don't think that's a great argument. Those units were among the very first ever released and as such built for a different system than what it has evolved into. I don't think they envisioned the game looking anything like it does now and if they had been designed now they would look quite different. The Celestant in all his forms would either have a higher damage/better rending/more attacks depending on the weapon we are talking about as well as +1 wound. Same for several Khorne heroes, they just were not built to compete with units that have come out in more recent releases, take the Akhellian King for example and compare him to a Dracoth riding Celestant, his only saving grace is his shield really; in my opinion these early releases are typically about 80% of where their power level should be and would be if released today with a few exceptions.
  5. 1000 point escalation league Ill be playing in two weeks from now, my first. How does this strike you as an all purpose 1k list, I'm probably doing something wrong... 6. Ah good to know, I like the look of the ghostbuster one on the cover of the box too, shame it's a gimmick to build her that way. One other thing is some of the swords look special with a lightening strike down the center, were those supposed to be another special weapon option at some point or what?
  7. Hey guys I just picked up my first box of Sequitors, strangely it doesnt look like I can build a Prime with a Greatmace based on the instructions. Has anyone else encountered this? If so what did you do about it?
  8. Is there a specific reason you prefer Protectors over Evocators? Otherwise this is a great list I will take my next 1k game.
  9. I made a forum post about the Stormcast, please take a look if you have the time.
  10. @Thostos Ive not run one yet though I had considered it. Sounds like an interesting combination however, also pleased to hear someone runs a Vanguard Chamber army. If you go through with it please get back in here and tell us how he performed as well as about the model, the thing that has stopped me thus far is the price tag for a model I estimated to be more the size of the Celestant Prime rather than a greater demon.
  11. I too have found our main Lore of magic underwhelming however I had a bit of success today I'd like to share with you. I have gotten use out of Lightning Blast, Thundershock, Azyrite Halo, Celestial Blades and Speed of Lightning. In my view these are the viable/efficient spells you can take you can take with our allegiance and pair well with certain units. For instance the two mentioned from Invigoration always end up on my Evocators for obvious reasons. My Knight Incantors and Lord Arcanums usually get the ones I mentioned from Lore of the Storm, Azyrite Halo has almost too small of a range that I wouldn't take it but if you plan on the unit tagging along with the from line its worth it. Similarly the Thundershock is close range but I had a lot of success with it today given the following set up. Lord Arcanum on Gryph Charger -Thundershock -Single-minded Fury -Doppelgangers Cloak (Ulgu) This was my first time using a LAoGC but his ability to jump around the board and be in position for the next turn is great utility and Thundershocking 3 units is huge on top of him basically being impassable scenery for the combat phase. That being said Thundershock can be a fickle spell like the rest of the lore seems to be. For my money(points) the LAoGC is the best version to take if you want Sequitor battleline because of his healing spell.
  12. @Darkrichhave you had much success with those two spells, I am experimenting lately and have not settles on what works consistently.
  13. congrats you've got a very special unit of Grandstaff wielding, helmetless Evocators.
  14. @PJetski thanks I will do just that. Edit: I decided to revise the list Allegiance: Stormcast Eternals- Stormhost: Celestial VindicatorsMortal Realm: UlguLeadersLord-Arcanum on Gryph-Charger (240)- General- Trait: Single-minded Fury - Artefact: Doppelganger Cloak - Spell: Thundershock- Mount Trait: Aethereal StalkerLord-Castellant (100)- Artefact: Stormrage Blade Knight-Incantor (140)- Spell: Lighntning BlastBattleline20 x Sequitors (400)- Tempest Blades and Soulshields- 9x Stormsmite Greatmaces5 x Sequitors (120)- Stormsmite Mauls and Soulshields- 3x Stormsmite Greatmaces5 x Judicators (160)- Skybolt Bows- 1x Shockbolt BowsUnits10 x Evocators (400)- 10x Grandstaves- Lore of Invigoration: Speed of Lightning3 x Evocators on Dracolines (300)- 2x Grandstaves- Lore of Invigoration: Celestial BladesBattalionsCleansing Phalanx (120)Endless SpellsQuicksilver Swords (20)Total: 2000 / 2000Extra Command Points: 1Allies: 0 / 400Wounds: 123
  15. Planning on running this list Saturday I would appreciate critiques and criticism to help me make changes. 16. RAW yeah it looks that way but to me this is a clear oversight and if an opponent brought it to my attention I would have no problem just letting it be meant as "enemy spell or endless spell"
  17. Short answer: no. Long answer: the reason you take a Stardrake in-so-far as I understand its purpose (i have not run one myself yet) is to be a giant unkillable roadblock. The Celestant gets a shield that rerolls 1s and potentially hits everything else around it with mortal wounds. The Templar is worse at this job and about as killy which is to say very meh for its points. Too much of the Drakes killing power is tied into conditional abilities and its claws aren't much better than a quarter of the size dracoth's.
  18. I think they are alright at 120 up until 360 for 15. Then after that you get another five for 40 points which is what I think makes them crazy. Their discount should be 420 or 440 for 20 models instead of costing the same as liberators who I think should also be capped at 20.
  19. @Barnie25 The Knight Incantor is a much better pickup In my opinion for several reasons. That right there saves you 40 points. Everything else is either good or "fine if that's your thing" except the Palladors. If I take something that's 200 points and not battleline its gonna be Evocators. Or you could take Fulminators with the points you saved taking a Knight Wizard instead of the Lord. I usually take 3 or 4 heroes at 2k so you should be fine on a 4x4 playing 1000 points with only two. @Prexxus As far as I know to use Garviel you need the Hammers of Sigmar stormhost to be declared or his ability won't work. That means you have to take their trait and artefact too which are fine I guess but they need to go on your non Garviel hero.
  20. I personally don't like it. At a 1k points a Stardrake feels like an all your eggs in one basket kinda thing which can really hurt you depending on the scenarios you'll be playing. It's a cool model but running him in anything less than a 2k point game is neither a wise nor fun decision in my opinion anyway. I'd rather (especially in this meta) drop him for a wizard of some type and buff up your liberators by combining them into a 10 man unit then taking either more shield guys or some Judicators preferably to threaten your opponents with.
  21. So I take it you will be running the Hammers of Sigmar Stormhost? I could advise some though I'm still fairly new myself, what other units do you have at your disposal?
  22. On foot yeah. If anything they might need a points bump to 220 otherwise if they stay at 200 retributors need to drop to 180. Both those things might need to happen anyway. Or better yet paladins get an extra attack across the board since the Evocators are lore-wise not supposed to be as killy but I dont want them Nerfed because I love my battle wizard force.
  23. I think this is a pretty great summary and I enjoyed the read. On the Stardrake, while he's still a great pick and I love the model I really wish he worked differently. It doesn't make sense that his killing power is only viable against massed infantry I think his abilities need a rewrite. That and give everybody with a "Lord" in their title become 6 wounds standard and 8 mounted and I'll be a happy Stormcast general.
  24. I disagree on the Evocator issues you both mentioned. I think the mortal wound ability on them makes sense lore-wise and it wouldn't make sense to give them 3 dice mounted (they are still just one Evocator projecting electricity) but giving them a 3+ save would make sense to me, they still wouldn't be as good as fulminators because they don't have a shield to reroll ones. It would just represent the added defensive abilities of the Thundercat
