Why not? Every other new battletome army gets a free terrain piece (or several) that cant be removed from play. Why should Khorne miss out? Especially when its very thematic to have a Skull Shrine or Blood Pool on the field.

I dont think he was saying no to a new terrain piece, just that making the bloodsecrator ability free and permanent might be a bit OP.

Thanks! Yeah, I was hoping since I hadn't seen a specific order of operations that prevented it that I could get away with it, just in case I mismeasure and leave an important unit out of his radius (although three blood tithe points is a lot to spend on fixing an unforced error like that).

It can also come in handy when the battle just naturally drifts further up the board.

Or if you're running gore pilgrims and one priest dies or you want to move them further up to boil some people.

It might be even more useful after the new tome, there is a good chance the bloodsecrator will be changed to "wholly within".

Council of Blood allows both Bloodthirsters to use their command abilities for free and none of the other characters have a command ability. Given you will start the game with 1 from the battalion plus 1 for your fist turn, the spawn is probably a good shout. Fits with the fluff of the list and gets you a bloodtithe point. Also a 4th unit to capture an objective while the heavy hitters do their thing.

Personally I'd still prefer the command point. That way you can use wrath of khorne's ability twice in the first turn and still have one left to get a guaranteed 6 on a run roll.

I can see the benefit of a spawn, just personal preference I guess

Quick question; Can you use the Wrath of Khorne's Command Ability 'Lord of the Blood Hunt' on Khorne Daemon heroes, or only daemon units?

Heroes count as units of 1 model for all purposes.

So yes, works on heroes too.

I’m looking at running a unit of 3+ Khorgoraths - Has anybody done this?  Any success?

Im having to order Khorgoraths from EBay - have #2 and #3 on the way.

I've only ever run them as 1-2. They can be absolutely brutal.

I've always been worried using them in bigger blocks because of the potential battleshock losses

It will "just" be Stormhosts/Temples for Khorne, meaning Goretide, Skullfiend Tribe, Iron Horde, Eight-blooded, Brazen Butchers, Axes of Skarbrand... to name a few.

    Personally I'm fine with that.

Maybe there is more but I would just wait, it's not unlikely that we'll get the first real teaser this or next week.

That sounds awesome, as long as there aren't 7 ****** ones and 1 good one

Nah, I mean like individual cults, philosophies or houses, like Kharadron and Daughters have. Sub-factions that have some character.

Oh right, I misunderstood. I was thinking along the lines of BoC where depending on keyword you had different allegiance abilities for the units.

That definitely would be a cool addition to the army.

Is it greedy to hope for interesting sub-factions? I think I'm going to be a bit disappointed if the sub-factions are just Mortals, Daemons, Mixed. I haven't read all the other armies' tomes, but they all seem to have cool thematic ones with a bit of fluff. That's what I want too eh.

How would you split it up further? I can't see daemons being turned into multiple sub factions but maybe mortals.

You could probably split them along the lines of "armoured/warrior" vs "non-armoured/tribal"

Reavers, priests, wrathmongers etc one side and bloodwarriors, skull crushers, lords of khorne etc on the other.

So they can get an easy +2 attacks with the portal and Deathbringer, +1 to wound off a juggerlord? Any others?

While bloodletters do get an easy reroll 1s to hit, and can run and charge with the WoK thirster.

I'm still undecided myself on which way i wanna go with my own khorne army. I've been doing a mix, but i guess its best to choose mortal or Daemon?

It's not that they are bad now, it's more that the benefits of running them in blobs of 30 are lower. Before the +1 hit effectively doubled your mortal wounds. Now it's just a handy buff.

Cheers! Well I like the space they can occupy too. Plus a unit of 10 just has that little extra impact on the field, it's 20 wounds afterall. The main idea is to have a unit to support the Thirster with,or screen him.

This is a cool idea too: https://thehonestwargamer.com/aos-list-rundowns/cankhorne/?fbclid=IwAR1U3bwjNVGqsqBgrGXsGAcqRSuoaAa0R7ZTA7QrfjuS2ex2JjvBOYWVL1Y#Introduction

Just jumped on here to post that link myself.

That's Matt Campbell's list and write up for his CanCon victory.

It's a really good write up, I definitely recommend reading it.

I just hope the FEC get some new models. They really need to flesh-out that range some.

I don't know if it's been covered before but this was an idea I had re flesheaters.

Seeing as the fluff says how they are delusional and think they are chivalrous  knights, introduce some ghoul cavalry of some sort.

Then allow all bretonian models to be flesh eater courts (no conversion required).

If you use bretonian models, that represents how they see themselves, if you use the ghoulish models that's how the world sees them.

To be honest, everyone saw this change coming ahead. When old and new armies have 6+ abilities coming to unmodified 6 and you know a box with khorne deamons is coming, it was 99% sure it would hit the bloodletters too, ESPECIALLY since they are one of the main, if not THE main reason of this change

Not everyone. It's obvious to people who are following all the updates and reading the forums every day but not more casual players.

I use my IR thirster every game anyway just cos he looks so damn cool! But with regards to the warscrolls, decapitating blow hasnt been changed for heralds and Skull cannons yet (at least not on the AOS app) so might have time on our side. Could be an oversight, or they might be leaving it as is for single models?

Oh yeah, don’t get me wrong he is a beast either way. Just trying to help manage expectations.

Imagine if you just bought 90+ bloodletters and then wrath and rapture came out.

Outrageous carnage on a 5+ then? Thats pretty nice, with +1 to hit. Might have to try this combo with slaughterborn on my IR thirster.

If your planning on making a IR bloodthirster I'd just like to point out that there is a good chance outrageous carnage will be changed to unmodified 6 in the future.

All the 6+ abilities seem to be going the way of the dodo

speculation on my part, but if it is a model release

    Plastic Tyrant/ Butcher

    a named character

a Gobbapalooza style kit for Maneaters

a big centerpiece model something akin to a giant ironblaster or scraplauncher style unit

    scrapyard terrain piece

If we get even half of that with a Battletome they will be my next army.
