Hi, so I'm about to embark on a peculiar project.
I'm planning to make a pretty oversized orc boss using a bloodthirster as a base.
With that in mind, someone recently pointed out that squigs look a lot like orc heads and that I could potentially use one (with some work) to become my orcs face.
Does anyone have information about sizes of the existing squig line? I know the mangler is probably going to be too big (unless I use an exalted bloodthirster, but I'm not made of money).
Thanks in advance.

I disagree, I mean there is a specific warscroll for the Slaughterbrute of Khorne. He's not just marked like other Slaves to Darkness.
Was hoping to only have one battketome to bring. Oh well
Well you only need it for the warscroll right? Why not use the app? And fair enough if you like having hard copies etc etc but for the sake of 1 warscroll I'm sure it will be fine.

Bladed shield, kind of like a buckler then. I like that idea, looks like it's eBay time
Just make sure to cover it in spikes or blades. Skullcrusher kits have quite a few in them if you didn't stick them all over the model.

Modelling query: As I'm re-modelling my Bloodwarriors to have something to counts-as Gorefists instead of double Axes, I'm juggling two options:
1) Snip one Axe and put a huge dagger there instead (probably from the Bloodreaver sprue)
or
2) Snip one Axe and put a buckler-ish shield there instead (probably scavenge eBay for marauder horsemen shields)
I'm leaning towards option 1 as it's much more convenient. What do you think about a dagger representing a Gorefist though, compared to a buckler? How have you guys dealt with this?
/Bjornas
I wouldn't just put a knife in his hand, I think it would need to be a fist weapon of some sort or a bladed shield.
Could you possibly attach the blade to his fist somehow? Nowhere in the description does it say it's a shield, just references a "counter punch". So as long as it looks like he can punch the enemy with it I think you'll be golden.

No. It's not. Ignorance does not need to be accepted.
Language is fluid, not static. That is something you need to accept.

I agree, they dont have synergies with battalions etc, but for example i think they are a great unit for blood sacrifice while holding objective
You're probably better with chaos warriors for that. 90 points for 10 wounds but they can make saves against the blood sacrifice.

¿Whats your opinion on chaos marauders?, they get more or less same profile as bloodreavers with reaver blades, but exchanges 1 bravery with +1 armor save, and if they are 20+ unit they can add +1hit/wound sometimes. They lose the bloodbound tag and the attack if they are near a totem (that is probably the worst part). But in exchange they are 25mm base so you can attack in 2 rows so you get extra attacks in. They are 10 points cheaper but they get minimun size of 20.
Personally I prefer the marauders warscroll and base size and would take them every time if they could fit in our battalions and had better models.

Agree, but I don't think Wysiwyg is a fun way to play if it stops you doing something which is easy for both players to understand, can be marked in your list and communicated before a game.
Etb counting as meat ripper axes, skeles with swords counting as with spears etc. Its a nicer way to play.
But different than if you said "my wrathmongers count as skullreapers" for instance.
I was intentionally trying to keep my post non committal.
Every person and gaming group will have a completely different opinion on the topic. Personally, my friends and I don't care as long as it is communicated, but I also know of people who are staunch WYSIWYG players.
Neither way is wrong, and I think the majority of people in a casual setting will give you some leniancy as long as you aren't totally abusing it.
If someone asked me if they could use skull reapers as wrathmongers to see how they play before buying another box. I'd say sure, go for it. But if they tried to keep doing it for months on end that might change things.
Also tournaments are typically 100% WYSIWYG, there shouldn't be any room for misinterpretation in a competitive setting.

Axes vs Fists, can we choose each different combat? Or does the choice have to be all game?
Say I charge a chaff unit and decide to use double axes, finish that combat, am out of combat completely- and then am charged by an elite unit. Can I switch to Fists then?
No you can't, once you've chosen them pre game, that's what they are for the entire match. Some people will play "what you see is what you get"(WYSIWYG) where you have to play them as what the models physically have equipped, some people will be more lenient and let you play them however you like.
You still can't change them mid game though.

I think reavers, especially the ones form the starter box, have both options anyway.
The easy to build ones from the starter box only came with reaver blades, no meat ripper axe option unfortunately.
I've been holding off painting mine until I can decide whether I can put the effort into converting them or not.

How do they stack up for size?
Edit: never mind, someone already mentioned they're a bit smaller.

Has anyone seen leaks of the new conditional battleline units? If there are new ones at all that is.
I would love to see wrathmongers as battleline if you have smart bloodwrath as your general. Or even khorgoraths if you take skaarac.

sound like crushers could be the hammer AND the anvil
The only problem is that most of the hammering will be on the charge. I feel like they will be tar pitted quite easily if you choose your target wrong or someone charges them first.

I just noticed they cleared up mighty lord and korghos khuls flesh hounds. They count as mounts for all rules purposes.
So no more double attacks with mark of the destroyer!

Just so that i'm clear, wholly within is all of the models base within x" of the the edge of the hero's base?
Yep, that's what it is. There used to be argument that it was each model just had to have part of the base within x", but they cleared it up at some point

Or you could upgrade the WoK to a skarbrand.
and hey. Blood tithe point.
True, I feel like wrath of khorne has dropped in value a bit with his command ability nerf.

So matt campbells list from cancon which 5 gamed actually just got cheaper and more options.
Blood stoker
blood secrator
slaughter priest
slaughter priest
blood thirster of incessant ghyr strike
wrath of khorne blood thirster
10 reavers
10 reavers
5 blood warriors
10 flesh hounds
10 skull reapers
gore pilgrims
now has 80 points leftover
now ghyr strike isnt as good on the blood thirster not making it explode on 4s anymore but still
You could use that 80 points for an exalted deathbringer, get the battleshock immunity back.
On the topic of losing battleshock immunity on the bloodsecrator, I feel like that made reavers a lot worse, those guys cut and run verrry quickly without it.

It also stops you using the reapers command ability to fight twice with each bloodthirster and use the battalion out of sequence fighting as well.
If it wasn’t worded that way and you had the CP you could fight with all 4 bloodthirsters twice before your opponent went. With its wording you fight with 3 in a row first then use Skarbrand last and fight twice with him then pass it back to your opponent who no longer has an army.
This seems to be one of the best new strats however as bloodthirsters have terrible defence for their points it straight loses to ranged armies.
This was pretty much my plan, seeing as I now have 2 built thirsters, 2 unbuilt and a skarbrand ready to go

Actually, at least according to my copy of Wrath and Rapture, the Bloodcrushers Muderous Charge ability went from doing 1,D3,or D6 mortal wounds depending on how many models are in the TARGET unit, to doing 1 or D3 mortal wounds depending on how many models in the BLOODCRUSHER unit.
It's also now 1 or D3 per model that makes contact, not just the whole unit. That's a lot more mortal wounds (potential).

So the bloodsecrator doesnt have to place his banner anymore and can run around while still buffing?
Yep, but it is 16" and wholly within now.
Also, no battleshock immunity

Im definitely considering just such a list. When u say he had that before, do you mean his rage mechanic because before it just gave him rerolls etc. And he only got to high attacks and 1+ carnage when he had actually taken 13 wounds.
Tyrants of blood may be really strong with skarbrand in the mix
That was a common interpretation of his damage table, and I think how a lot of people played it initially.
It was later FAQed to be the same as what it is on the new warscroll, this way it just removes any confusion.

Hm... so where did the whole Gutbusters rumor start then? Seems a little out of the blue
There was a announcement about lots of new battletomes for all grand alliances. The destruction picture had an ogre on it, I think that may have been the start of the rumour.

Does anyone else feel like this special weapons issue would be resolved if we had a points system reintroduced for them?
Like 1 in 10 bloodwarriors can take a glaive, but it costs X points, and obviously apply this to all units in all armies with special weapons.
Edit: I am also aware that this would need to be more of an AoS 3.0 sort of fix, not an FAQ or errata.
