I'm planning a somewhat simple modeling job of gentle hills and slopes for a swamp-themed basing system. I have both green stuff and brown stuff available to me, but waaaaay more brown stuff. The idea was to form gentle dips, troughs and slopes with corkboard, before softening the edges with the green or brown stuff, before painting over it with mud texture paint and then using UV resin for the water. Do you guys have any good advice for using green or brown stuff as terrain modeling? I can't find Modpodge anywhere near me, or I'd try using that first.

Have you looked at Luke's APS YouTube channel? He has an online shop (geek gaming scenics) that sells terrain modelling compound that sounds like what you're looking for. There may be cheaper alternatives though.

I'd say go for the Glottkin!!!  You can get in some games and then save up for the GUO later.  The Glotts are cheaper $$$ wise and more points so you get more bang for your buck starting the army up.  It doesn't look like you're going for Befouling host right out of the gates.

Sounds good, and would pretty much leave me at 2000 points. One of the least expensive AoS armies to get into at this point. Probably will be going for a mix of mortals and daemons until I get more units.

Just got the first coat of paint on this guy, wasn't a big fan of the sculpt until I had it built and primed, but it's a really characterful mini and I'm looking forward to hopefully doing a decent paint job! 😁

  3. Not like me, but have finished the second unit of Plaguebearers in about 5 days rather than 5 months! 😁 My painted force is starting to look like an army now

If I don't get distracted with other projects, I'll be working on a Spoilpox Scrivener next.

I thought I recalled originally seeing something earlier but right now Amazon is saying the paperback for Cursed City returns May 10th.

Probably a good chance that date coincides with the return of the Cursed City box, or at least close to it

It more of their general Q&C when it comes to their miniatures

In my own experience, the last couple of resin mantic models I bought have been very good, the last two warcry warbands I got have had broken pieces lying in the tray. Not a great sample size, but I'd have no reservations buying again. In my opinion,  neither mantic or GW are as good as Mierce or Creature Caster in pure quality.

It's the design of the mantic stuff I usually find issue with, but they have improved alot in the last couple of years, the older stuff I find ropey enough though. I'd buy an army of ogres if they looked like this Ogre warlock.

GW models are usually excellent in design, apart from some models being far to fragile.IMG_20211109_000448.jpg.419a9f6478bc9bd87f70f36d741581c9.jpg

  6. Slaanesh was probably the winner this year for me, Dexcessa being the standout. My favourite model I completed this year for AoS was this converted Nurgle Sorcerer. Not a massive or impressive miniature, but I liked how it turned out!

Instead of Dominion selling poorly, couldnt it just be a case of GW overproducing boxes to ensure that supply could meet demand? Instead of risking another incident where they werent able to (Cursed City)?

In either case I only see this as a positive thing for us consumers - There are now a bunch of minis at a hefty discount which is awesome for new and current players alike.

I bought Dominion from Wayland games at half price, the core book and basically 2 1000pt armies for 65 pounds was a massive deal and brought me into this edition.

Even if I don't expand the Stormcast or Orruks to full armies, the variety of the miniatures will mean that they will find uses in loads of other games.

I'd recommend it to newer players if you can get it for a good deal; enough units for decent sized battles and the full size rulebook with art and lore. Good variety in the miniatures for new painters too.

Give me female fyreslayers, give me dwarves with beards and eyes made of literal fire, give me saucy posing short bearded firemen and chippendales with mohawks!

The conquest dwarves were a better take on the concept I think, more variety between units and characters, with normal dwarves and fire covered berserkers.

The GW fyreslayers badly need some variety, a cavalry/chariot unit and a warmachine would be what I would like. Along with a heavy armoured foot unit to break up the masses of skin, and have an easier to paint battleline unit.

  9. Works out close to 600 points too, roughly a 35% saving on webstore prices, identical to the percentage savings in the Rotbringer Start Collecting, and less value than the Daemon Start Collecting at 42 %.

Daemon Start Collecting = 520 points

Mortal Start Collecting = 485 points

New Vanguard Box = 585 points

If the new Nurgle Battlebox is a sign of how new starter sets are made I'm pretty glad. Limiting the amount of heroes means we can get more value from buying multiple boxes.

Definitely depends on the price, the Nurgle mortal start collecting is 80 euro, Combat Patrols are 110 euro,  if that bundle is 110 euro just for the extra unit of Plaguebearers, it's not as good value as what we already have.

Hope both Start Collecting sets remain, both Nurgle boxes are excellent and allow building either Mortal or Daemon themed armies without having to purchase units you don't really want.

I've still to see any evidence that GW staff are unfairly or underpaid other than from youtubers making claims to get lots of views to make money

James Hewitt described the salary and conditions on twitter, I was shocked at how low the wages were.
