Hello ladies and gents i am taking the below list to a tourney this coming sunday. please help me with the following.

1 does this list look competitive?

2 if no to number 1 how can i make it better

    fyreslayers 2000 pts

    fyreslayer allegiance ability Hermdar

    battalion Lord of the lodge

    Incantation

    flame wall

    flame spitter

    heroes

    rune father (leader) (tyrant slayer)

    Runesmiter battle smith (nulsidian icon)

runemaster runeson on droth (javelin) (ashhorn ancient)

runeson on droth (javelin) (cole-heart ancient)

    battleline

10 vulkite berzerkers war-pick and shield, hornblower

10 vulkite berzerkers war-pick and shield, hornblower

20 Hearth Gaurd Berzerkers flame poleaxe

List looks good but only one of your Mags can have a trait unless you run Lofnir.

@TheNotebookGM  Fair enough.  I really like Lords of the Lodge.  I'm currently running 20 Hearthguard Berzerkers, which will become 30 once they aren't back ordered.

It is super powerful, just not my bag personally. I neither want to spend that much money or that many points on one unit. I prefer a more generalist list usually. I'm also not a super competitive person though. My goal is 3 wins, really. Too much stress at the top. Too much pressure to chase the metadragon.

So far Greyfyrd has been my favourite lodge.  Running it with a battalion gives you 4 artifacts, and having your foot heroes attack at the same time is great.  Charge in a few Grimwraiths, and activate them at the same time.  Not a lot can withstand that.

This is my thought, although I've been using Greyfyrd as a way to avoid paying for a battalion when list building, none of which excite me.

Don’t stress. That’s going to absolutely fine

Okay cool, because I'm going to flip if someone tries to tell me my vulkites don't have throwing axes because I put grapnels and power tools on their belts. I will not stand for counting already nearly useless axes, haha.

  5. I've been wondering about this too. My units are mostly done up properly but as an example my "Battlesmith" is actually a Runefather on Foot holding a banner from a unit of Swordmasters, with a headpiece from an Archmage with the talon of a High Warden wrapped around it.

That said it is clearly "Dwarf Hero With Big Banner" - I'm going to my first GT this fall and this thread is giving me the stress.

So I'm off to buy my first Slayers tomorrow. Wondering which list I ought to have built and painted for a 1k army. Quickly written I'm between these two. Hermdar BTW.

    Runemaster
    Runesmiter
    Battlesmith
    2x10 Vulkites
    1x10 Berserkers
    Flamespitter

    Or

    Runefather
    Runemaster
    Runesmiter
    Battlesmith
    1x10 Vulkites
    1x15 Berserkers

Which would you pick, if you had to settle on one?

I'd go for the first one, the HGB are fun but you'll be glad for the extra wounds on the table without a mag there to occupy a flank.

  7. Played 1k vs. Stormcast today, felt the pain that is Evocators but was quite happy with my Vulkites. It is nice that they have a little more meat to them in units of 10.

Hearthguard melted against aforementioned Evocators but I had also misapplied them.

Wish I had used my Magdad better, kept having key units out of his Hermdar bubble. That said he is a total monster in a fight, popping the rend rune makes and having the extra rend on Magmadroth Melee rolls of 6 is quite spicy.

Lost on points but it was definitely on me and not on the stuntibois. Now that I'm closer to more games I'm excited to get more in depth.

His typing is off, the math is good.  I added it up with 20 vulkites at 320 not 260, and it came out to exactly 2000 points.

as notebookgm stated, list looks good.  I'd probably take Prayer of Ash, instead of doubling up on searing heat with your priests

Oh, even better, looks great then.

Your math is off, lad. 20 Vulks is 320, not 260. Drop 10 of them and that looks solid as hell.

I haven’t played aos in a long time. I have some Fyreslayers from when they first came out. Can anyone help me with a 2k list?  I know I’ll need to buy some more but here’s what I have so far

    Runefather

    runesmiter

    Runemaster

    runeson on magmadroth

    battlesmith

    doomaeeker

    Grimwrath berserker

    fjul-grimnir

2x10 vulkite berserkers pick and shield

    3x5 auric hearthguard

    Chosen axes

You could make a pretty cool list with what you have without buying much.

    Runemaster (General)

    Runesmiter

    Battlesmith

    Grimwrath

    Chosen Axes & Fjul

    2 Runesons on Magmadroth

    1x10 Vulkites

    1x20 Vulkites

    1x15 Auric Hearthguard

    Forge

Just grab one more SC and the forge :)

  11. Hey so is the Gunhauler a complete waste of my time? I want it in my Fyreslayers army because I like the model and it is fluffy and would match my skywardens but I'm worried literally any Fyreslayers unit would be a better call.

  12. So far I am between Greyfyrd and Hermdar for Lodges- I like the Magmadroths but the lore for my army is that of scavengers and vagabonds and I just don't see them as having a huge bench of the beasts, besides, I want to incorporate the Skywardens I have (I love those models and they are what brought me to AoS) and maybe some Gyrocopters or a Gunhauler (although I feel like the angels of better nature will shout this down since neither of these are known for their performances)

So far this is what I have (1180pts total)

    Runefather on Magmadroth

    Runesmiter on foot

    Grimwrath Berserker

    20 Vulkite Berserkers

    5 Hearthguard Berserkers

    6 KO Skywardens

With a generous reading of the Allies rules I can run a 1250 point game just fine using this list, and I want to get it up to 2k by November because I'll be attending my first GT. I like what I have so far (although I'd be willing to get rid of the 5 HGB for an Auric Hearthguard centered theme), I really just need to add 820 points to what is listed here- it doesn't have to be spectacular or terribly powerful, just something to have a good weekend away from home. I'd love to hear what everyone thinks now that we have alot more info to work with.

Where are you coming from?  If upstate NY also check out Crossroads.

I'm in Brooklyn, and I run a mixed aelf, fyreslayer, KO list right now and I'm pretty sure by november my General and his Reaver friends are going the way of the dodo.

I'm sure i'll just pick up another box of Skywardens and a couple Grimwraths and just run Fyreslayers for the Tournament.

I still hold out hope that Doomseekers or Grimwraths will be rebadged as a unit of heroes. Like take 1-3, counts only as 1 leader choice for purposes if army comp. Would fit with the theme of Fyreslayers as norse heroes writ large (or rather...well, ****** it they're still brolic as all hell, that counts).

Deepstriking 3 Grimwraths with a Runesmiter is my fondest wish for this army.

  15. This update will be enough to get me to keep up my Fyreslayers, all I ever really needed was for the Aurics and Magmas to feel useful. I don't mind the nudity or even the sameyness. I've got mine all kitted out with unique weapons and some spare KO gear anyhow (they are teamed up with some Skywardens as a company of scavengers and mercs, The Gyrforge Buzzards).

My only other wishlist is to have Grimwraths be able to move/tunnel with Runesmiters as a unit. 3 of those suckers with a Runesmiter would be a fun alpha.

I don't think I could even hazard a guess with this one, but it seems too neat to be Destruction or barbarian related, and too fantastical to be 40k (but could be GSC).

What if it is the front of a helm that has horns or tusks coming out either side?
