It's good (great) into lists that rely on elite melee threats but shooting heavy lists will just remove them from the table after they kill the chaff.

It's too matchup dependent to be competitive but it's fun as hell.

Ahhh i see. Just looking for a competitive list for skaventide. Just haven't found anything yet ;)

I tried out an alpha strike verminous: Mixed Skaven vs. Mixed Order (mostly shooty stormcast); Chamon (no rend for the battle). Just played a game with this list except it was derpy due to "no rend allowed" for the battle.

Step 1: Huddle army around a Gnawhole. +1 to cast for all your wizards this way.  Cast Cogs.

Step 2: Death frenzy x2 the stormvermin ("Death Frenzy" + "Dreaded Death Frenzy")

Step 3: Skitterleap Assassin to nearby terrain feature. Drop a Gnawbomb. Send Storm-vermies through the Gnawhole.

Step 4: Skitterleap Warbringer close to enemy (within 6'')

Step 5: At end of movement, tunnel up a Clawlord near where the storm-vermies will hopefully charge

Step 6: Charge in with the storm-vermies and pop the Clawlord and Warbringer's Command Abilities.

Step 7: Enjoy the 7 attacks per model at 3+/2+/-1/ 1dmag, re-rolling all 1's (they pile-in and attack twice upon death)

No battle report needed as both sides couldn't kill each other at all but the above steps worked exactly as planned. That said, being in the opponent's face turn one changes the nature of the game considerably. Fun times.

Just saw this post! I really like this idea! Just have to ask, do you think its a competitive list? 500 points for stormvermin sure is much!

  3. I'm thinking about using 40 plague monks in a list, however i won't have anything else pestilens!
    Whats best for weapon loadout:
2 Foetid Blades for the re.roll to hit? or 1 blade and a woe staff for 3 attacks per model? (5 on the charge!)

    2. I think you could probably run 40 Plague Monks by themselves and do alright with them, though the Furnance buffs them up with the prayers plus the Furnace itself is a pretty durable unit. Think if I wanted to run 40 Monks and a Furnace I'd have to sacrifice a bell and drop some rats and the Pendulum and have something like the following though to be fair that's still a pretty decent list (if anything it's got the combat punch I was missing while also keeping the decent ranged/spells);

    Allegiance: Skaventide

    Leaders
Grey Seer on Screaming Bell (200)
    Arch-Warlock (160)
    Verminlord Warpseer (260)
Plague Priest on Plague Furnace (180)

    Battleline
    40 x Clanrats (200)
    - Rusty Spear
    20 x Clanrats (120)
    - Rusty Spear
    20 x Clanrats (120)
    - Rusty Spear

    Units
    40 x Plague Monks (240)
    - Foetid Blades
    9 x Warplock Jezzails (420)

    Endless Spells
    Warp Lightning Vortex (100)

    Total: 2000 / 2000
    Extra Command Points: 0
    Allies: 0 / 400
    Wounds: 182

Sorry for all the questions, but you would never consinder doing something like this? dropping the Jezzails down to 6 instead of 9 and still keep 40 Rats and the Aethervoid?

    Allegiance: Skaventide

Grey Seer on Screaming Bell (200)

Plague Priest on Plague Furnace (180)

    Verminlord Warpseer (260)

    Arch Warlock (160)

    Battleline:

    40 Clan Rats (200) - Spears

    40 Clan Rats (200) - Spears

    20 Clan Rats (120) - Spears

    Units:

40 Plague Monks (240) - One Foetid Blade and one Woe Staff

    6 Warplock Jezzails

    Endless Spells:

    Warp Lightning Vortex (100)

    Aethervoid Pendulum (40)

    Total: 1980 Points

Jezzails were MVPs every game, adding +1 damage to them made them ridiculous for both sniping out key things or even dealing with hordes.  Being able to re-roll hits if you don't move is great and using MMMWP when you really need something dead for those re-roll wounds is great. I have thought getting two units of six but I think one single unit of nine is just as good.

I’m planning on changing up the list though, didn’t roll a 12 on the bell once and it lived every game until turn 5. I found the Warp Lightning Cannon did absolutely nothing all weekend, think I rolled a 1 once in 25 turns and it was more of a liability. Think if I drop the Grey Seer and Cannon I can take another Screaming Bell to increase my chances of a Verminlord and then buff up the unit of 20 rats to 40. Means I’ve got 20 points spare probably for the shackles.  The one thing I found I was lacking was any combat punch, Clanrats give a little tickle and die in their droves (exactly what they're meant to do) but I cannot justify swapping around the list to fit in 40 Plague Monks and a Furnace.

Congrats with number 14! I can't wait to attend my first tournement!
    Just got a few questions.

    1. What is MMMWP?
    2. I almost run the same list as you and i have considered adding in 40 Monks. Do you think its importent to have a Furnace if you tend to run Monks?

    3. Would you consider using Death Frenzy? I have heard it's quite good? or is it not worth it to use on Clan Rats?

  6. What are your thoughts on this list for 2k games trying to be competitive?
It's all about casting spells dealing mortal wounds and sniping hearoes with the Jezzails.

Arch Warlock will go on the Balewind right next to a gnawhole (+1 casting) while all the other heroes will stand right next to the gnawhole. They will be protected by the Jezzails and 20 Clan Rats while the other 80 Clan Rats will stay on objectives. Thoughts? image.png.43a62ff796b210d8b4009ea55b79ccae.png

  7. What lists have folks used in 1000 point games? What units do you include?

    I thought about this:

    1 Arch Warlock

    1 Warlock Bombardier

    20 Clanrats

    20 Clanrats

    6 Warplock Jezzails

    1 Warp Lightning Cannon

    960 points

No, since the book came out the skyre allegiance has been changed and is now a part of the skaventide allegiance.

You only need a Skyre hero in your army to be able to get warpstone sparks.

same goes for pestilence, moulder, Verminus and Eshin, which will receive bonuses when your army has a hero of that clan.

Nope! Using clanrats as your battleline (instead of clan-specific ones) simply mean that you open up access to everything within Skaventide :) If your battleline choices were solely Skryre, let's say acolytes, then you'd be locked into a full Skryre-only army.

So you'll want to use clanrats most of the time, so that you're able to freely compliment your army with the tools you need to win the day. Moulder/Pestilens armies are where you'll more often see "pure" armies being used.

    To illustrate:
You could have an Arch-Warlock general, give him whatever command trait you deem fitting within the skryre pool of command traits, and then you could accompany him with Clawlords who will also get their own command traits because they're Verminus. I'm not sure about whether the Warbringer would also get that, but the Clawlords would. As long as you have enough clanrats, you're free to build whatever you like :)

So does that mean i can use every clan "Alligiance" in one army?

Clanrats are essential if you go Skryre. Without them you run into the same issue they had before, which is lack of troops to actually take objectives beyond blasting the opposition to smithereens. With clanrats you get to do both. At least a single maxed out unit will do you wonders.

Thanks for the fast reply! But do i not lose my "Skryre" alligiance if i take clanrats as battleline in a Skryre list?

  10. So i know i asked this quite recently but what works best for us? What is our streangths and weaknesses?
My friend told me that "pure" Pestilens is quite good and "pure" Skryre is on second. Is this true?
    From what i have gathered:
Plague Monks does insane amout of damage equipped with A foetid blade and a Woe staff.
    100 Clanrats are a must.
Verminlord Warpseer is an Autoinclude and so is Warp Lightning Vortex.
Warplock Jezzails are really good along with WLC (Which is best?)
    Thoughts?
    Thanks before hand!
