The Nighthaunters spells are far better than the SCE IMO, but both have absolutely stunning artworks. Those alone might make me buy both tomes....

Hum... The NH spells give me a childish feel. I find the the Vault of souls interesting but a bit silly, the giant flying hour-glass a bit boring, and the flames on the Reaper way too small and regular, and an over sized scythe is a rather cartoony idea. I much prefer the rather similar pendulum. On the other I fund that the hammers tornado is fun, and the comet rather well done (but less fan of the arcanuum, too flat and more boring than the balewind vortex)

  2. I love the jailor and chainghasts minions. This NH release feels like the Nurgle one for 40k last year. The designers probably drugs or coerced the finance department and went all over the place so we got an unreasonable number of beautiful and random boxes...

.Guardian of Souls is for sure an auto-include, unless you are bringing the Mortarch or allying in Arkhan.  We don't exactly know what the Mortarch of Grief does but everyone is assuming she is a caster of some kind.

I would guess one of the 2 other named heroes (maybe the the Craven King ?) is also an other wizard. Seing magic is the new big thing, and the GoS is not really a top caster... If not it would boringly make the Corps Bride an auto-take...

The Pegasus guy could be the killer and the seated king a buffing guy/average wizard ? (yet they are not very expensive heroes if I recall correctly, so probably nothing crazy to expect...)

I see him(her?) looks like they have a roman gladiator type helm on, as well as round shields.

Complete helmet make the design more plausible for a release, GW assume/knows we don't like/know to paint eyes... :)

First of all...! If you brought these to the table, I would say "it's always a pleasure to play against painted miniatures".
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS "NOT GOOD ENOUGH PAINTED MINIATURES"! ! !

That being said, I do have some C&Q.
They DO look good! Very grim and dark, and this is probably what "real" chaos warriors would look like, prowling through the streets of the twillight city.
However, as miniatures I do miss something to make them pop a bit, as when you squint, they are just a dark blob.
Some splashes of red blood? Green glowing eyes? Or even just a bit brighter highlights to help differentiate the shapes.

All in all, fairly standard tabletop quality.

nah, much better than the average tabletop quality, it's super clean, and painting those armor are not so easy, even if you start spraying the metallic first. And if the base side were done it would look even more impressive, but, even with 1 wash for all colors I don't believe it's not more than 1h of work :)

Check this out! So in the Nighthaunt section, scroll through the pics, we see an alternative version of the "faceless ghost swinging bricks", which when we look @ the leaked points on reddit, makes me think that these are the Chainghasts as they come in a unit of 2, max 4.

Also I'm also thinking that the big ass Calvary are actually heroes, maybe the Dreadblade Harrow?

    well spoted.

I hope the death Pegasus is pretty. As I am not a fan of the bride, but I really want something in between the enormous black coach and the dozens of average size min and cavalry.  I prefer 2 center pieces in an army.

I just hope that whatever Darkoath ends up being has models that look like the two characters released so far.  I really love the old Frank Frazetta Conan look they went with for those characters and I would love a whole faction with that theme.

And they should received some giants guys or some angry war animals, lots of potential indeed

Just realized why I'm getting a bride theme from this model, the head dress and rose thorns are stylized like Tim Burton's Corpse Bride.  This must have been an influence on this range.

Conveniently the Morr Garden is covered with such roses, it will fit her army very well

    @Kaleb Daark yeah it's strange :

The Shadespire-like scenic bases SCE are too many to be a Shadespire war band (also they do not look like the card artworks from Adepticon) :

3 Sacrosanct Judicators, 1 Gryph-Hound, 1 Ballista, 2 servants, and 1 Lady Wizcast on a celestial lion lizard (as shown above the apparently normal 3-models celestial lion lizard SCE do not have scenic bases).

On the other hand the Nighthaunt seems to only have 4 models with scenic bases (4 Banshees).

EDIT : oh no I saw 2 more, at least 2 new Wrait on steeds, with Scenic bases. Really intriguing !

I guess this will be another, smaller starter kit (a mix of Know Now Fear and Exclusive Plague Brethren maybe ?)

Or maybe  new bases boxes, round and oval, sigmar ruins and cemetery ?
