That will be a great start to your army. The wolves fill the battleline slots in Legion of Blood and are also the perfect screening unit to ally into Soulblight, so you've got both options available. I suggest you try using the dragon as both Vhordrai and a regular Lord, they've both got pros and cons. Typically, Vhordrai is stronger when there's already another dragon in your list.

I haven't used or seen those Mantic models in person but I know they're typically quite a bit smaller than GW's, so the spite heads might be too large for them. If that doesn't work out I suggest you just go with the heads that comes with the riders, I think they look pretty good.

    Awesome thanks for the feedback!

Im thinking of getting another dragon when I expand to 2000 and using mannfred as the rider, so hopefully will have that on hand soon.

Thats a good point they do look a little small, I’ll keep everyone posted.

  2. So I’m planning a new army and I’m gonna run Soulblight (or legion of blood). Plan is to work up 1000 points first. This is what I’m looking at:

    - Prince Vhordrai

    - 3 Vargheists

    - 5 Blood Knights (using Mantic Soul Reaver Cavalry with Spite Revenant heads. Let me know how these models go if anyone’s used them.)

    - 10 Direwolves

What do people think and if anyone’s got those Mantic units let me know how they go :)

  3. I think this Death release may end up being quite large.

All signs point to it being a skeleton based release. I think there have been two characters tease now. You have the released entity, which will presumably end up as the Mortarch of this faction. You then have this smaller, secondary hero who will maybe be the hero included in the box against the Ogurs.

Well, the communication still is less than stellar for things they don't want to talk about. And internally, as well.

This is of course about the culling. ("handful models" anounced two weeks before the  fact, 27 sets affected, including ones that received a mercenary function the month before (which should have been caught by internal communication, can't believe they only made the list for culling after the final edit of GHB2019))

Dude you need to stop bringing this up randomly, especially in the rumor thread.

You might get a new hunter model through BeastGrave - Hastings mentioned an Ogre Hunter as a possible war band [although his list missed BoC and Wanderers turned out to be Kurnothi]. Still possible  and what I'd hope GW would use Underworlds fro -to expand ranges.

That would be awesome. I can only hope they do this, I’d be so stoked.

If that's the rationale, Soulblight are screwed lol

Honestly I’d agree with that, Soulblight as they are wont survive. They have two plastic units, so if they are continued I’d imagine they will lose a lot of their units and get a rework.

Another thing is that with their 6" pile-in (with rend to boot), Yhetees offer something interesting mechanically that isn't typical for an army of big, strong dudes. It becomes more like a dance, rather than just "get in there, bish-bosh".

They are less than 10 points per wound too, so are both underrated and fun.

While Skal is overpriced (although less so now), the ability to pop-up anywhere with your Hunter and cats is again provides a different dimension from the "run up and smash 'em, lads".

Yea, I quite like the Hunter too.

I know HeyWoah gives him a bit of stick by calling him the "gingerbread man" - due to his slightly unnatural arm position - but there are far worse sculpts out there

I agree that in terms of rules they add a lot of uniqueness to the faction, and I’ll be disappointed if their gone.

However, I’m running counts as and custom version of all three of those units and it seems fairly common to other people as well. I don’t imagine they’re selling very many of them and the finecast nature would have always put them at risk.

  8. On the topic of predicting cuts/replacements I’d imagine we could see some cuts from the Mawtribes book. They have a substantial amount of Resin that could easily be replaced.

It’d be safe to say the old Tyrant kits gone.

Maneaters and the Firebelly are probably at risk, being the units they’ve shown the least support/commitment to.

The Butcher could easily be replaced by a plastic kit, but that all depends on the toe of release the Mawtribes will get. Yhetees and the Gorger are most likely not going anywhere but again, could easily be replaced.

Icebrow Hunter and Sabre’s are probably safe, though there has been that rumor about them being in an Underworlds team.

  9. Based on this, I think we can attempt to make some conclusions:

    • Wanderers and Dispossessed are now in prime spots for expansion in the future. All their older models are going, leaving a core of solid plastic kits.
    • Phoenix Temple remaining is a possible sign they’re in for an expansion or will form the basis of one of the high aelf factions
    • High Aelves getting nuked probably means they’re in for a total range rework.

If Wanderers were being squatted they'd have finished the job, like they did for Order Draconis, Eldritch Council, Swifthawk, Lion Rangers...

The fact that the only got rid of the oldest unit and finecast/metal heroes means they have other plans for them.

I definitely agree with this, there’s been indicators Wanderers were different from the other Aelven factions from the start

Kurnoth died in the age of chaos, killed by Nurgle peeps.

They could bring him back, replanted a bit like Alerielle. Personally I think it's more likely Orion will be a named character for them who leads their forces.

There is a section in the Sylvaneth Battletome that implies some aspect of Kurnoth survived.

That, plus the fact that it highlights they caught Kurnoth in his winter aspect makes me think he’ll make a return.

I would think more of the heroes could stay (Spellweaver and Waywatcher spring to mind), and something like Orion could make a reappearance (he fits so well, and chronicles recently available).

Sisters of the Watch might also stay. Not sure why, but I have that feeling.

Yeah some of the other heroes would fit visually as well.

I figure Orion is Kurnoth in age of Sigmar, a lot of there lore seems interchangeable.
