  1. With the soon to be 3 consolidated Destruction factions all uniting a few different themes and races together, I wonder if I’m the future we won’t see any exclusive one race greenskin armies for destruction but rather see orruks and gitz combined to fit themes.

Greenskin sky pirates or steppe warrior greenskinz using both races could be cool.

  2. I wonder if Maneaters and Firebellies are going to be relegated as well, that most of the mercenaries are going to be cut from active books and be used exclusively as mercenaries. A lot of them could be at risk, the Death, Freeguild, Vampire and Chaos ones in particular.

  3. Awesome idea for a thread!

This is the project I want to start:

1 - Cthulhu inspired Scourge Privateers army. I wanted to make an Order City focuses on darkness and mystery, and a water borne city of eldritch horror fits the bill. The plan currently is 1000 points, comprised of:

    1. Black Ark Fleetmaster, using the Lokhir model. Mostly I modified, just adding tentacles.
    2. 2 x 10 Black Ark Corsairs modified with Genestealer tentacles heads. Also have some biomorphed limbs as well for variation.
    3. 2 x Scourgerunner Chariots, crew modified with whip arms and tentacle heads. Horses modified with Venomthrope parts.
    4. Kharibdyss, no change.
    5. Allied black dragon with Toxicrene parts to have a tentacled flying monster.

Looks like Arkhan is part of the release.  Did not see that coming.

    edit

Just so I don't look like a huge weirdo, there used to be posts between my two posts before the cruel thought police aka mods deleted the potato pics haha.

Was there an image of Arkhan ? I’d love for him to be included.

    Yes and no...

Grimnir resurrects Gotrek, and sends him to take his place holding the gates to the Realm of Chaos, so that Grimnir can be free to travel back into the Mortal Realm and help in the battles of the end times. Its implied that he imbues him with some of his power (symbolised by trading axes), but he doesn't elevate him to godhood per se.

He is definitely Grimnir's heir, and his chosen champion. He is his replacement in the sense that he takes over doing his job, but not in the sense that Grimnir passes his divine portfolio on to him.

Ah that makes sense, thank you for clearing that up.

So by rights he should be around Mortarch/Celestant Prime level?

  8. It’s exciting because once the two new destruction books are out, it’s going to be all new stuff from here on. Im praying that the next destruction faction we receive is something brand new and original, as the three big ticket races (Gitz, Orruks and Ogurs) from destruction will now be covered. I’d be very intrigued what new races or variations they could introduce to destruction.

Just based on standard fantasy tropes, there’s a few that could work:

    - Werewolves: Fairly underrepresented in AoS (and WHFB), I think a savage werewolf faction would be awesome for destruction. Could be explained as humans who are morphed by Gorkamorka’s bestial nature.

    - Elementals: Easy to work into the faction, just have them be the savagery of the realms made manifest.

    - Insects: A huge based faction that mindlessly consumes life (think Tyranids). Probably the hardest to link into Gorkamorka, but his relationship with the spider god shows it can be done.

  9. Yeah I agree, having the game be fully ready for the future with all battletomes being 2.0 quality would be awesome, but still we’ve had an extremely awesome year of releases.

Seraphon and Kharadron have been fairly consistent in the rumour about their expansions, granted they’ve been happening since both had their initial books dropped so they were bound to be right at some point haha.

Yeah I’d agree, there’s just so much repetitive negative commentary that’s not really adding anything to a discussion.

Hopefully once all the books are updated there’ll be less of it and people can start looking forward to the future.

    Bringing it back to rumors:

    - Mawtribes have now been confirmed, with rumors from various individuals indicating that BCR and Gutbusters will be confirmed. We also had dubious rumors indicating there would be some cuts to the range, with finecast particularly at risk. Replacement models for some cuts were indicated.

    - Cities of Sigmar has obviously been gutted and partial or whole factions have been removed. Wanderers, Duardin (Dispossessed + Ironweld), Dark Aelves, Humans (combined human factions) and Phoenix Guard being the survivors. The initial announcement of the book indicated there would be seven allegiance abilities.

    - Orruk Warclans will be combining Ironjawz and Bonesolitterz, each with new allegiance abilities. There will also be a third combined allegiance, presumably a mixture of the two armies.

    - Once all the above come out, we’d only have four to go (Tzeentch, Seraphon, Kharadron Overlords and STD/Everchosen/Darkosth). It would be reasonable to assume STD would receive some cuts, so I’d be prepared for that. Kharadron and Seraphon have been heavily rumored for some time to be receiving expansions, so I think them being saved for next year could actually be an indicator for that.

  11. I love the continued rollout of Mortarchs. Hopefully as GA Death expands, more Mortarchs are revealed and we see Nagash’s council grow. We’d only have to see a Deadwalker Mortarch and most of GA death would have one (Soulblight, Necromancer, Nighthaunt and Skeletons).
