According to the Lumineth BT, the Lumineth built Aetherquartz structures all over the Hysh which did that. It wasn’t one central tower. Maybe it was one tower in an earlier product. But this tower could turn out to be something like that.

Thanks for clearing that up for me.

Bear in mind Warcry has no armour saves or anything like that, the only defensive stat in the game is the number of wounds so it has to be a pretty flexible number.

It is pretty strange to me to see what is apparently a new mortal cavalry model, I would guess it's a new sculpt for Hellstriders to replace the ugly old models, but as they were included in Shadow and Pain that seems unlikely, then my second guess would be some sort of flying unit which Hedonites don't have access to currently, but it doesn't have the flying icon for Warcry, so I guess that's not it either...

After looking at it for a few minutes at the steeds of slaanesh I have to agree that they are probably just another unit of mortals mounted on them like hellstriders.  The frill that’s visible on the left side of the small picture of the new unit entry looks like the frills from the other steeds of slaanesh units.

  3. Maybe it’s like the eel riders with four wounds but with a lower save to keep up with the lightly armored slaanesh rule of thumb.  Though the new elite units break the mold on that so I guess we will see.
I think people here have already guessed it right being a light cavalry unit on either a seed of slaanesh or whatever the daemons mount for slaanesh is called.  Boobsnake I guess though Morathi took that and ran with it full tilt.

  4. So these Bladelords arnt the spiritual inheritors of the swordmasters focus on being magic elf shaolin monks that live in an ivory mage tower?
as an aside I really miss when eltharion was a blind swordmaster.  The short story they had in the 6th edition army book.  It really made me feel for the guy.

  5. The slaangors seem like they are going to be like the tzaangor enlightened.  Suppose they wanted a 3 wound infantry to go along with blightkings and skullreapers.  I hope they give the Sybarites a full kit with both weapon options here, that’s what they really need.  The universal rend is nice and fits with all the other slaanesh units profiles I can think of.

  6. I know it is a bit of a stretch but hear me out.  I think the swordmasters are going to be making a comeback as a temple of warriors who have mastered different elements.  I assume they are going to be based around some kind of white tower type place, perhaps the tower that teclis built to buffer the necroquake.
I make all these assumptions based on the new underworlds character Ailenn and several of the cards they have previewed on Warhammer Community today.  I think this would be really cool to see a new take on swordmasters as the jack of all trades master of none role in the faction.  I know underworlds isn’t always something you can base many future units off of but the way they presented the Slanneshi band’s characters as a preview of what is to come I felt this would be a safe assumption.

I took some screenshots of the community page I am talking about just so you can see what I am talking about here as well as a link to the wiki page about swordmasters for those who are unfamiliar.  Let me know what you think.

I hope that's a hidden Ed Sheerin reference since he used to play.

The thing about chaos is it's hard to think spatially about how much work it takes to get noticed.  Start as a chump, move on to chump with an axe.  maybe upgrade to marauder.  Spend enough time killin' you get upgraded to warrior which is like becoming a Space Marine (according to Jes Goodwin).  Just that level alone is rare.  Getting marked means you get some blessing by a god which,.. if the realms are umpteen bazillions of gazillions of souls,.. that's rare.  Super rare.  What's a human when gods are fighting themselves, pooping in a forest or birthing some plotlines for Morathi.  So that guy/girl has to work SUPER hard to get one god's attention.

So getting a second mark?  Oof...

Also the gods hate each other.  It isn't as prevalent now as it was in the Realms of Chaos days but if you are Slaanesh then Khorne is a no no.   Valkia brandishes a Slaanesh daemon on her shield.  Does Tzeentch care if you are really busy collecting skulls?  What does he care?

There was a short story/novella last Christmas Advent (or two ago) about a Darkoath Warqueen worshiping a form of Tzeentch and becoming Khorne but only after tzeentch abandoned her and she was tortured nad bloodlust saved her in which Khorne was like "yeah you do the do baby".  In which I mean she killed for khorne.

It is sad we kinda loose sight of the lore and fluff of what GW has done vs in-game rules.

  8. I think the everchosen are the only ones to ever have more than one mark of chaos and earning them was part of their path to glory.  I remember archaon gained the favor of tzeentch by getting the eye of sheerin and khorne by defeating the bloodthirster in the shadow pit place for the crown or whatever but I can’t remember all the details.  Does anyone remember the details about how he accomplished each one or how any of the other everchosen ascended to primacy?

  9. I really don’t see them separating daemons and mortals in any of the chaos armies.  From the beginning of age of sigmar it has been a separation based on the god rather than the old 7th edition fantasy division of daemons/warriors/beasts.

I would go so far as to speculate they will use the disciples of tzeentch as a kind of template going forward with daemons and mortals together with the god specific beast men.  I would love for the khorngors and pestigors to come back!
