I actually suspect that we are going to have a core rules update as well.  The indicator of this (to me) is actually the battletome dropping this week:  The Kharadron Overlords battletome does not have the four pages of core rules that every AOS product and resource has had over the past two years.  I suspect that this product is the last one to roll out before the new core rules.  I don't suspect they will be very much (if any longer) than the current core ruleset, but they will likely clear up things that the FAQ has had to and possibly integrate aspects of the past (or what we thought were future rules of 1) into the core rules.  I wouldn't be surprised if this is where we see that same named abilities no longer stack.  This is my hunch.

    The plot thickens!

    So where does it stop?

we already have guys that will argue that the second rank always attacks because they squeeze in the gap in the middle of two other models, who when moving a wood out of the way will park models on where the tree was. So this dude makes the fact that a 32mm base shouldn't let him hit a bit academic.

It stops at a consistent application that affects everyone equally.  Planning your unit positioning to get extra attacks out of 32s is a tactical move within the universal expectations of fairness - not a basing standard.

Tournaments will go this way.  Everyone else is free to do whatever they want guided by the communities they play in.  You will not get a consensus for freedom of basing here, ever.

Some models on rounds and some models on squares will not be consistent.  Ever.
And for the very same reasons measuring from models instead of bases will not be consistent.  Ever.

The very highest levels of GW are acutely aware of the desire for new Death models.  But the beans haven't said yes yet.  We just need to have patience.

Death players are fast becoming like Sisters of Battle players - in less than a 1/10 the time.

I don't think she can do that considering she is wearing heavy armor xD

Now the vanguard guys I do think would be able to do more agility like actions since they have said they are wearing a lighter version of the stormcast heavy armor.

You'd be surprised how agile you can be in plate armor.

Has anyone scoured the DoT book for clues about other things coming our way?

    Spoiler

One of the reasons I have gone with Perry/LotR models for humans, is the hands and heads. If you don't mix, it works fine. Here's an example of some models of my order army under work. The more realistic humans make the epic models, such as these tree kins, stand out more. Still, the plastic haradrim I bought were bit too small.

Funnily enough, I have an old waywatcher for this army and he's head shorter than the perry models. Though the peg on the bases causes it a bit.

Could this somehow be, unfortunate as that would be, related to the upcoming Death Guard release? There's been somewhat of an association of Nurgle with slugs in the past (with Beasts of Nurgle long sporting one's body, for example, and one hanging around with Festus) and I find that going from slug to snail doesn't require much of a stretch...

Death Guard would have smooth tentacles.

"The player whose turn it is picks a unit  to attack with and attacks with it's ranged weapons, then the opposing player must attack with a unit using their ranged weapons, and so on until all eligible units on both sides have attacked once each....(More Snipped)"

    AoS is a simple game.

That is a complete overhaul of the sequences of each turn, and it's pretty complex at that.

That is a very complex redesign that would require rebalancing of offensive/defensive potential and movement of every unit in the game. The opposite of a GHB 2.0 "patch" or rules tweak, if you will.

I think the easiest fix is to either give shooting units -1 to hit while enemies are within 3 in. or to give shooting a minimum range (say this on each warscroll.) Some units would have special powers which lets them shoot in close combat i.e. Dracoth breath, pistsols, hand axes etc...

It is no more complex than the current combat phase sequence aside from requiring that you track who shot the previous turn. I could possibly get behind -1 to hit.  Minimum ranges could go either way.
