In Summoning, are the points set aside strictly for summoning spells? Or do they also include abilities that let you add units during the battle that are not summoning. For example Alarrielle has an ability to roll on a table during the hero phase and possibly add a treelord or unit of dryads. Also some of the battle plans enable a command abilty that lets you generate units.

I'm pretty sure these types are excluded from the summoning rules.   There isn't a great way to validate what *might* be summoned against a pool you set aside for purposeful summons -- unless they state that you can't summon it if you don't have the points.

So what are the battleline units you can use with thanqoul? Just stormvermin, clanrats?

Any unit already designated as battleline - so any of those from Chaos GA.  He doesn't unlock anything, but he also doesn't have an official tome.  If you want to stick to Skaven then clan rats are actually the only unit for that.

So I was really liking the idea of a steampunk skaven army!!! I saw that stormfiends can be a battle line unit I believe if you have a clan Skyre army? My second part of this question is can I can have thanqoul and bone ripper in this army and the stormfiends will still be battle line? If I include a general that has the Skyre keyword? Or by having thanqoul in the army does that not allow stormfiends to be battleline?

You cannot be Skyre if Thanquol is in the army.  All the units must have the Skyre keyword.

At first glance - do you notice any grossly under-costed horde units?

Hopefully this will give you an idea.

    Clan rats - 6ppm; scgt pool cost - 3.
    Zombies - 6ppm; scgt pool cost - 3 .
    Grots - 6ppm; scgt pool cost - 6 (for 20 so 3 for 10).

    Skeletons - 8ppm; scgt pool cost - 4.

    Ghouls - 10 ppm; scgt pool cost - 5.
    Bleakswords - 10ppm; scgt pool cost - 7.

According to my old store manager the unit sizes are based on the size they are sold in. So one unit is one box and if you want to have more you do it by adding another box. If there's demand for it I guess people will just divide the unit point cost by the number of figures in the box. This might be useful for when boxes have 10 or more models in them.

I would strongly advise against doing this.  This would be abused by min/maxing for units that can carry special weapons or other unforeseen consequences.

The rules of one are big nerfs to Death. The proc one is too harsh on Tomb Kings as Righteous Smiting is their raison d'etre (SCGT hit the sweet spot there).

The no double casting spells cripples Nagash and makes Arkhan pointless - their ability to double cast other Wizards' spells is integral. At least Nagash will be cheaper, but more fun to have him at full power at higher cost.

Stormcast are already the number 2 army and aren't affected negatively by the rules of one - they could "cast" 3 Warding Lanterns automatically while enemy can only "try to cast" mystic shield once - big imbalance.

This lacks most of the respective points and as such is an incomplete analysis.

We should hold off claiming best army before all the info is out.

  7. Anyway it seems GW won't be able to secure a solid win.  Someone will always be frustrated.  If points become the most popular then it's really the demand of the community and it's what will keep the game alive, which is good for all of us.

I only play Seraphon units and it sounds like I can keep running my Thunderquake Starhost in Matched Play, but I won't be able to bring a Loremaster for Hand of Glory unless I deal with a core tax.

That seems... fair. It should allow them to design cool mini factions like Ironjawz and Flesheater Courts and make them powerful without worrying about how they combo with models outside their faction.

Right and hopefully we can still make mixed lists that can win by using varied elements to their greatest efficiency.  Curious to see how restrictive the keywords will be.
