  1. Warcry just got a lot more interesting! Excited to see what war bands are coming- there seraphon look interesting. Wishlist for me would be dwarfs [the rumour engine with books] or Kurnothi .

But yay to a new source of models for the different factions!

They still have Grombrindal to release at some point, hopefully he comes along with some kind of dispossessed/updated aos old school dwarf models

Yes I'd love a new proper, serious Grombrindal model! They might do a Kin White Dwarf though as a Christmas model [or perhaps Bugman's future Kin?]

I love the lore so far. (Wondering where the Grimdark is going to come from though, but they're fine without grimdark)

Yes I could live without the grim dark turned up to the max..but love the looks of these! so happy to see them with such cool weapons and loving the heads -looks to be a packed kit with lots of variety! I think there will be lots of scope to kitbash across with KO- Kin bare heads for KO and KO helmets for Kin at the least.

I'd love some new KO models [or Grungni's repossessed!].

What is the normal time scale between 'pre-order' and actual availability?

    Usually a week.

Guerrilla Games did a good wee video showing them off- here. The faces look pretty cool as the visors are separate and they look very posable with ball and socket joints. I wasn't sold on them, much prefer the Votann look, but actually I think they look quite fun and you could kitbash them with KO  for some very interesting looks. Wonder if trimmed KO helmets might work or the profiteers axes and swords. Think might get a set just for fun. Oh and they said there will be a Leagues Squad reveal this week on Community!

Emmm... that's exactly what I don't want to see. An edgy (and anecdotal) case of a God of Death being on hollydays without any impact on the game, battletomes and the story.

Well there is dead dead and mostly dead.., I thought Grimnir was shattered not destroyed. I'm not well read on AoS lore, mostly focused on KO,i have to say the world building improved a lot in their book between 1st and 2nd, there was a greater sense of the society generally and I have enjoyed some of the BL short Stories around them too. My sense of of things is that AoS is beginning to mature into a deeper setting. I was a WFB player from 1st ed and that world was so deep and rich but it built up over years. AoS definitely suffered from an awkward initial release and has changed direction since. I hope it will continue to mature but I can see were the problems are, the setting being so big and full of possibilities you need both the overarching story and the smaller, personal tales, WFB was a smaller setting as well so that made it easier as well as being a very settled one.

I'm not sure, but I love the detail of fingerless gloves on the robot. It's not neccessary, but it's a choice they made.

Yes there was one with two arms holding similar tools/hoses from a few weeks ago..https://warbosskurgan.blogspot.com/p/rumour-engines.html#2022-05-17

I think this one might be the Kin engineer that they accompany ..https://warbosskurgan.blogspot.com/p/rumour-engines.html#2021-06-29

I think he looks very cool and ripe for conversion .. clockwork automata serving with the fleets..

The marketing storm to HH has drawn a wide net. People I know who don't even play 40k are interested in it. I'M potentially interested in it.

But see if $300 boxes don't soon become the norm from what were once $170 ones. And it isn't COVID doing it.

I'm not into that particular box - not a fan of marines, but if you offered me a similar sized box for, say the new Leagues of Votann or a new Dwarf force for AoS I would snap it up in a heartbeat. I usually try and buy in bundles these days to get discount -usually through Darksphere. I rarely buy just a single box/model so its the sort of deal I'd go for anyway. Giving you a sizeable army to begin with isn't a deal breaker, an HH box looks to be very good value for money which I'd love to see for factions I love. I'm really hoping for a LoV army box  for example and if they raised the price but added more models I wouldn't be put off.

And Berserkers, I'm sure the video mentioned Berserkers.

Yep Cthonian Beserks, Einhyr seem to be the elites/exo armour, Grimnyr are the Psykers and Kälhs are the warlords?

I think there will be so much fun kit bashing across the ranges, the Exo suits could work very well as a Kharadon heavy melee unit. But loving the sound of the faction !

It seems that I'm the Black Sheep of this forum, but I just love the KOs Lore.

I must say that our backstory still has some holes, but our current stories are awesome!! We just ended the second conference of Madralta, we fought side by side with our allies and we even see Grombrindal in action!
We have our Pirate Nation (Bark Mhornar), our classic nemesis (Skavens/Grotbag Skuttlers/Tzeentch), classic stories (find the Lost Barak, raid a temple/City, etc...) and our Soulbound hooks are awesome (our Path of Glory is not bad btw).

Imho, KOs only miss two things:

    1. Second wave of models (and that is not a Lore issue)
    2. More named characters (coff-coff Drekki Flynt)

I'm not going to lie, I hope to see more about  civilizations growing enough to confront and even kill gods than just Gods playing 4D chess. Btw, so sad that Josh Reynolds don't write for Black Library anymore, his books were really fun to read and understand the world (realms?).

Yeah I agree- KO are an excellent faction- the 2nd Ed book gave them a really good feel and there are some cracking stories with them- Code of the skies is a really good short story for example. Plus there are some really good character models like Bugmansson and Dagnai . I think they could do with a wee wave of more models [and female Kharadron!]. The Old World benefited from years and years of development and some really good writers. AoS might be a bit patchy but I think its improving.

Yep! Hoping that's being used by a warlord or his guard in exo armour! And that could definitely be a weapon swap for KO admirals..

Store managers know about as much as us, but an army box for them before a wider release wouldn’t surprise me at all.

Yep- its a timeline I'd guessed at as well so thats why I'm going for it!

They are fairly packing out the release weeks these days so nothing would surprise me popping up in the schedule.

So at least Autumn before I get my Kin Space Dwarves and Necro Squats?

Theres a rumour I read on Reddit from a GW store manager that there will be an Army Box of Kin end of July with the rest of the range in September/October which I am choosing to believe.. 😇.

Necro squats I guess might be out before that, they can squeeze those in easily enough. The release schedule looks packed  though!

  13. There was definitely an old rumour from Reddit around January that talked about Sylvaneth - mentioned Lady of Vines coming with a couple of kits but no Kurnothi, can't remember what else was said or who reposted it here. Not sure what else it mentioned .. think it was a little swear-y/ grumpy. [sounds like a dwarf! 😄]

40k has some VERY archaic stuff in it tbh. I dunno, I think that fits 40k better and especially 30k better. When you remember the emperor dispatched a bunch of people to record stuff during the crusade, including painters, I could see a type of reporter typing in a typing machine in a siege or something. And with Guilliman doing the dame rn, that couls fit 40k too. I dunno, we would have to see

Yeah but this looks to use the exact design language of dwarf war machines with the teeth and catch mechanism. To me it looks more fantasy -maybe off a Kharadron/dwarf backpack but yes 40k is certainly weird enough for it be for the Imperium!

  15. 10 minutes ago, Higolx said:

Eh, I think this might be a 40k one. I could totally see a typewritter and some books in some sort of adminiatratum mini. Plus we have things like lex mechanics already (or rather they exist but their minis are old and rare). Could be some sort of imperial guard advisor, inquisitor retinue, rogue trader retinue etc

Its more the trigger and mechanism they are sitting in that looks more fantasy to me than 40/30k.

Really appreciate the optimism regarding the Fyreslayers and KO here. Old grognards from Bugman's Brewery like me (and IIRC also you?) remember what it was like to wait like 20 years for monopose Hammerers to be replaced with new monopose Hammerers. True Dawi back then were made of sturdier stuff than these new-fangled Duardin. Those were the days: forums were forums and the potato phone cam hadn't been invented yet... ;)

All jokes aside. I think a lot of the optimism could be extended to the Skaven too. One thing people don't mention so often is that they actually got a new wave of stuff around The End Times which clearly was designed with AoS in mind (e.g. the new Stormfiends). So in that sense they have at least some models that are reasonably up-to-date. What they would benefit from model-wise is a core range refresh. But I think they would also benefit from some lore updates. As of now each of their four great clans are largely the size of a smaller AoS force like Fyreslayers or IDK. Why not say there's a civil war with the conclusion that  Pestilens joins Nurgle and Moulder merges with Skryre - both are thematically reasonable choices - and then invent a new clan to take their place?

Yeah I would occasionally frequent Bugmans Brewery ! My fantasy dwarf army still has 2nd ed elements! I definitely think we have reason to be optimistic - especially for KO - Dagnai, Bugmanson, Gotrek and Drekki all show they are still designing dwarfs. The sylvaneth release looks to show they are coming back to the 1st edition releases and I remember when KO were released they stated "thats all for now" so I'd be very confident new dwarf stuff [and Skaven] is coming -they are just getting it right. ;)

  18. I think both Fyreslayers and KO haven't had big updates as others have said at the time they weren't designed to be multiple wave releases, although KO benefited from larger initial releases. AoS was originally designed to offer small forces which would be phased out over time and replaced with something new, but obviously hey have changed tack as we all love our factions. It can take 3-4 years for new design work to result in new releases I think and it looks like Sylvaneth are the first to benefit which is great to see- they were the first faction I saw that made me see the potential of AoS. I think another reason why Fyreslayers and KO might not have seen much  of an update is the dwarf design team might have been seconded to 40k to make sure they got the return of the squats done right. There definitely looks like some similar feels with he new LoV models. When they do get back to dwarfs in AoS I reckon they will be amazing.

A thought did occur to me on Skaven- its strange they haven't gotten much-i'm wondering of they will be the next big bad for 4th edition.. way off but it would be Order vs Chaos and would be just like the Skaven to be lurking and then launch a massive offensive on the unsuspecting realms..

I love the art! Especially the character profiles - looks like the same artist that did the KO ones. Hope we get models like both in the future [for KO and LoV].

All sounds very cool and intriguing. I like how the clone/genetic manipulation echoes the idea that dwarfs are made by their ancestor [gods].
