New rumour engine ! Feels 40k though

Getting a dwarf vibe off that- well constructed/engineered plus the blurb [which may have nothing to do with it] - hints days long past. Looks very clean for 40k imperium.. probably wishful thinking on my part though.

  2. Damn that is an amazing model! These centrepiece figures are just fantastic- they keep upping their game. Looking forward to them giving Kurnoth/Orion, anything Duardin a similar quality of kit [and an eldar avatar/tyranid monster would be epic too]. I think a fair few collectors/modellers/painters will picking this guy up when he's released! I wonder what Soulblight might get..

Lumineth seem to play a similar role to Stormcast in Settler's Gain. Could be that Settler's Gain is a new type of City of Sigmar, without a Stormkeep. P

Settlers Gain isn't a City of Sigmar- its sounds like it was built by the Lumineth to facilitate other races- similar to the docks areas on the Kharadron sky ports -outsiders allowed there but it is Kharadron jurisdiction, this city is a Lumineth entity and under their jurisdiction -hence no Stormcast.

The Ulfenwatch could be used in AoS (just paint their banners as you like) but I'm not sure about their zombies. The roots and tombstones seems to be a unique  feature of Ulfenkarn/ Gorslav.

I'm really curious if we will have the option to build an Ulfenkarn army when the Graverlords land (I love this kind of things!)

I was thinking about the zombies, as you say they are very tied to Ulfenkarn- Its more likely to be indicative that we'll get very different AoS zombies, not merely shambling dead- the undead ogres offering some really interesting options- could maybe get a variety of dead walkers . Really looking forward to seeing what they come out with.

BTW did someone understood yesterday's article as (reading between the lines) :

    ???

Only problem with that is it might mess with timeline fluff wise unless of the events are happening at the same time? Do we know if the events of BR:Teclis happen after of during the events of BR: Morathi??

  6. BR: Belakor is as surprise but it looks great for Chaos players - I wonder if he'll bring any friends... I was wondering with this being announced so early will they be speeding up the release of BR books like who they did for Psychic Awakening in the run up to the new edition. So new edition still on for the Summer [maybe slightly later like 40k did last year].

Looking forward to seeing what the new model reveal is today- it looks very interesting, to me another Vamp but it would be great if it was something unexpected. They did mention in the last preview that more factions would be getting a model or two and it would be nice to see at least new individual models for other factions in between the bigger releases/updates. I think all factions could do with extra character models.

People are going to hate me for saying it, but the crossguard looks a lot like a Lumineth one versus the circular-bend of the Soulblight.

To me it looks either Soulblight or Aelves

    Horns + Aelvish sword: Kurnothi?

This type of Aelves I think..

But more likely to be Soulblight - reminded me of the lady vamp in the Underworlds set.

Srsly: If all Ogres started to look as good as the Corspe Eater I'd be tempted to start my first Destruction army. (IN MY OPINION, at the moment the Ogres are just fat ugly hungry things with little to no character. This changes a lot with a Model improvement)

Yeah I loved the old Jes Godwin Ogre sculpts - still have a set of them- the bezerker, priest and shaman are excellent.

Love the new Ogor sculpts and hoping going forward we start seeing these as updated Gutbusters. Perhaps with Destruction leading the 3.0 charge Mawtribes and Warclans will have a range revamp much like Gloomspite did.

Of course along with these guys I'd love to see Grungnis Duardin turn up to battle the noise along with 2-3 new Fyreslayer units.

Yeah it made me think we could see some new varieties of Ogre- those look like older versions of Ogres - maybe what's in store for destruction in the future.

Hoping for some new Duardin myself in 3rd ed - Grungni showing up and I'd love some more Kharadron too after seeing that Trade Commodore released.

Plus I'm hoping for Kurnothi to finally make an appearance as a full faction after the Underworlds warband and the hero for Cursed City.

we didnt have any rumor engine for new lumineth and yet they still got a lot models

Yeah this has me a little more optimistic -there have been plenty of surprises model wise with no hints from rumour engines. I wonder if the Kurnothi might be linked to the Gravelords due to the characters story in Cursed City with Gravelords invading Sylvaneth space. Plus there's the question of where Anaerion's spirit ends up- I'm thinking resurrected/reborn Kurnoth/Orion.

If the next Broken Realm is going to be about Allarielle, did we have rumour engines about Sylvaneth or Kurnothi?

Btw, really happy about  Dagnai Holdenstock. I can't wait to play with him with my KOs!

Yeah Dagnai looks ace! Made me really happy how he turned out- I was half expecting something plainer with a gun levelled but he is so characterful. I'm tempted to get him an Ironclad - a model like that needs his own ship! Makes me very optimistic for future KO releases [we are doing well with extra characters with himself and Bugmansson and I'd love a bit of KO floating terrain like the Lumineth temple thing].

Kurnothi/Silvaneth wise the only rumour engine I can think of is the insectoid hatching eggs which look very spite-like. I'm expecting at most just a new character for Sylvaneth in any BR Alarielle tome, I think the Kurnothi might only feature strongly in the lore that comes in that book -models coming later. They're the Aelven faction I'm most looking forward to so hopefully sooner rather than later..

  11. Well that was fantastic! What a brilliant bunch of reveals!

Cursed City looks amazing! Did not disappoint at all in fact exceeded expectations! The Vargulf critter.. undead ogres.. ogre vampire... and the heroes... Amazing sculpts! Really impressed with all the heroes - the mage and the the priestess are so so good and the ogre is a brilliant surprise. The Kharadron surprised me the most - I wasn't expecting much from him but he is so good- brilliant pose, full of character and the beard rebreather is really great -bodes well for a possible update to my favourite faction in the future. Hoping this gets released soon - I imagine March [perfect birthday present to myself if thats the case...].

Belakor is coming then... looks huge and from the snippets takes the original sculpt up to 11.. how he fits with Alarielle will be investing...

And very tempted to pick up that Wight King to go with my Black Knights...

A nice little tidbit for you ahead of today's preview. There are 5 private videos in the age of sigmar section of the Warhammer YouTube page. There is one in cursed city and one in direchasm. There isn't a private video in the broken realms section.

Based on that I think we will have 5 previews:

Cursed city, Direchasm, Lumineth, Soulblight and Gardus.

I'm looking froward to seeing everything today, expecting to see the Lumineth revealed, hoping for some nice Gravelords reveals [not just silhouettes!]. Really hoping for a good sense of Cursed City after today- its what I'm really interested in [although the graveyards will be tempting]. Longshot -I'd love a few hints of what else in is in the pipeline for later in the year [ideally a glimpse of another Kurnothi]. Not expecting that though judging form your videos list.

Still plenty to look forward to! I think Lumineth will be impressive and a Gravelords preview will be gobsmackingly wondrous!

    I'm in panic

    Where are the kangaroos

Thats what the Blood knights are riding.. undead taun-tauns..😇

Really looking forward to this tomorrow. Mainly for Cursed City- it looks like a great painting project and maybe a game I can get my time poor friend into. But the Gravelords could be very tempting as well..

  14. I thought it was Belakor too- the description fits plus that rumour engine pic of the wings. It sounds too bestial and obviously evil to be Malerion and seems too powerful to be a vampire. I assume the victim being described is either Nagash or Sigmar. I'd say Nagash is a bigger threat to Chaos as he has an essentialy united massive army with no dissent[they have a foothold in the eight points ?] - Sigmar relies on his allies too much. But really it could be either but fracturing Nagash's power looks to me to be the more interesting plot development - Sigmar has plenty of other problems to deal with - Morathi, possibly Alarielle going nuts and a big Destruction army coming right at him. AoS certainly ain't boring!!

I don't think Ironjawz got combined with Bonesplitterz because they sold badly. They simply didn't produce enough IJ models to make it feel like a "proper" army (they could still use like 4 more kits to feel like you got more options than going 1 of 3 units) so they had to mash some totally unfitting kits in there.... Entirely GW's fault. People love Or(ru)ks.

I think thats the problem with Fyreslayers as well- the early factions are designed to be small and maybe have less of an inbuilt way to expand them whereas later factions are are more setup to expand [especially like Lumineth with their temples and twin factions]. Orcs will probably get expanded in the next round if they continue with faction updates- wether that is adding to existing factions or adding more variety remains to be seen.

KO look to me to be a successful separate faction they could continue to expand so I don't see them adding them with other dwarfs. I think its more likely we will see a new dwarf faction under Grungni which might take in other existing dwarf factions like the dispossessed. But they might well be independent and live them where they are [the way high elf forces stayed with Cities when the Lumineth arrived.]

I'm going to throw out the possibility that the target is Nagash and the shadow lord is a new up-and-coming vampire. This could be the beginning of the narrative setup to explain how Soulblight become their own thing.

Could be- I did think that but just how it talks about Nagash - it seems to be more of an equal rather than an overlord. Could be one of the Original Vampires maybe who knew Nagash in life? I'd still go for Belakor over throwing Nagash/breaking his grip on death [which would explain the Soulblight doing their own thing].

Check war-of-sigmar. They have the leaked prices. They often post leaked stuff like this, although sometimes they are a bit late.

I would be really disappointed if the new quest game will be significantly more pricier then the last editions. I’m hoping it will be something like €125...

Yeah if it was just models I'd be annoyed if it was too pricey but if they include plastic terrain at a higher price point I could see value in that.

Lumineth is a surprise and I wonder if the results would have been very different before the recent leaked new models coming for them. Fyreslayers are not a shock, they need some additional creative designs. Sons is a bit smaller than I'd have thought, but I think what hit them hard was the price. That said its one force where I'd wager there's more who own one Gargant than who own a whole army. It's a slow grow project that I can see being a sleeper force that steadily gets very popular over time as people add gargant allies into their different armies.

I'd still like to see a further survey with more specific sub categories. Seeing a breakdown of

    Armies I collect
    Armies I want to collect
    Armies I like the look/lore
    Armies I dislike look/lore

would be a neat way to tell where there are forces that are perhaps popular in concept but not ownership.

Yeah I'd like to see something like that as well. I like dwarfs and am looking boring forward to a possible Kurnothi release as well -be interesting to see what armies people would collect..

Great to see Kharadron doing well- I thought they might be popular - I'd love to see them expanded further.

There’s a rumour doing the rounds in the board game/wargame YouTube community that cursed city will cost 300 USD over £200. While this seems a lot  I know GW wouldn’t price it that much if there wasn’t more to it than a usual boxed game. So this has got me speculating. We’ve seen a large city map, could Cursed City have a campaign map role playing element, like Games such as Misthaven? Could we see 3D scenery? Will it be tons of miniatures or a combo of all 3? I personally don’t mind paying that much as I know the content will reflect the price. That said it could just be a rumour as that is quite an unusual price point for GW!

Its possible- I've seen that rumour floating around Dakka as well. 3d terrain would make that price point understandable - those renders of houses in the animation/illustration did make me think they'd be cool in plastic. I would have said previously though that GW tends to make these games more accessible so around £100ish mark but the big Necromunda box shows a different approach - the big deluxe box packed with both terrain and minis so they could be aiming to do that with Cursed City- models and a setting in a big box, something that most boardgames wouldn't have.

It just depends on their strategy - accessible board game or something more deluxe. I can definitely see them doing it and doing it well [as in a really good box packed with cool terrain and models] as it takes advantage of their ability to produce high quality  plastic terrain and model sets. Necromunda for me looked like a great set but I'm not wild on the game or the gangs- Cursed City looks much more appealing though. We'll get a sense of it soon enough if terrain makes an appearance but I'd stretch to higher price point for more good content. The Warcry starter made me think of Quest with those archways etc and its a bit pricier,  could be the way they are going.

    Overlords indeed.

Surely the best and most important ‘Lords in the realms! 😇

looking forward to all the reveals , be grea5 to see what the Lumineth players are getting and I’m intrigued by the Gravelords.

Mostly keen to see more of Cursed City , it’s looking impressive so far!

Interesting they used Kurnothi in the title but no where else.  And that she's not half-animal...  Her story mimics the Wanderer story in AoS more than the Kurnothi one.

I really hope this game is 1+.  Would give me a legitimate excuse to pick it up.

Well she's got horns and a soul pod at her waist like the other Kurnothi so maybe Kurnothi are more mixed like DoK, Its a knockout sculpt -I'm loving all the models so far, definitely get the feeling this is coming sooner rather than later - maybe March?

In terms of the heroes we have-

    Witchhunter

    Kurnothi scout

    Kharadron

    knight

    Priest/wizard

    Brute [orruk/ogre?]

Thoughts  on  the last two? Dispossessed/slayer maybe? Another Aelf? Hafling?
