With OBR the 'redux' Tomb Kings,

If the Gitmob is the spiritual 'redux' Oldhammer Orcs,

And the 'Stormcast Knights' is the spiritual 'redux' of Bretonnia,

Have we almost finished the arc of 'what happened to the squatted factions go?'

Just need Kurnothi for wardancers/wood elves, a mountain kingdom dwarf faction to replace the dwarfs and Malekiths DE.

There are a fair few factions- Skaven, BoC and Seraphon which are surviving on old sculpts and need updating.

Really looking forward to the reveal later whatever it brings!

Thank you very much for your reply! I read all 4 stories and that was AWESOME!
From what I gather that looks like
    1) Grombidal is a demigod right now (his powers are very close to Morathi's and he directly says that he is not a god)
    2) Grombridal is working as a Grungni agent (he take the body of the dead Fyreslayers Rusmiter "to his maker")
    3) Grombridal can change his size and appearance.
    4) It's safe to say that 90% it was a Grombridal in Be'lakor BR.
The only thing that still concerns me a bit that in the BR Be'lakor sees him with pike+axe and in all stories, he was welding a runic axe.

Any other way of reading these stories other than buying 4 White Dwarfs?

Someone on FB did an excellent pencil sketch of the outline. It's definitely some sort of centaur. They went 'full Lumineth'.

I think its more they went "full AoS"- which I love. She looks like part Vargulf/dragon/Vamp- a nightmare monstrosity in the best way. I'm doing my best to resist the vamps but there seems to be so many I could get "just to paint".. fortunately I still have my VC army from WFB but still... Really intrigued by the prospect of new Dire Wolves. Looking forward ti seeing what next week brings..

On the Aelf/Dwarf debate -  always thought the purpose of Aelves was to show how superior dwarfs are compared to their weedy capricious point-y eared counterparts - thats why they need so many types, dwarfs have quality over quantity..😇 [totally joking - I'm a dwarf collector really wanting those Kurnothi aelves when they arrive..].

I was going to suggest a combined orc and goblins tome from Whitefang's mention of the Hobbit, but thought I was reading too much into it. However, I'm starting to think that may be the case. Maybe some Gitmob Grots models as part of Orruk Warclans? Or a new tome with generic orruks and gitmob grots combined in the same vein as the Orcs and Goblins army book in fantasy? That would explain the Orc chariot weapon from the Rumor Engine. I'm gonna spit my drink out if we get a new battletome called "Orruks and Grots".

My guess from the hints is that it will be a force that combines different types of greenskins but I don't think it will be generic - I think it will be strongly themed. Possibly around the clans of the Steppes - the idea around wolf riders and chariots, with Orcs and maybe trolls etc in there as well with the furs etc from the old hobgoblins [just not the same physique as them]. The bonesplittas and Ironjaws would be completely separate factions and distinctly different. I don't think they will look like the old O&G forces. Just a guess, AoS at its best pushes the identity of factions into new and interesting places - i'd expect that for our destruction brethren.

I really, really like the idea of a Warcry release as a sort of 'backdoor' for getting plastic Maneaters, it would work so well. I thought that's what they were doing with Hrothgorn as a new plastic Hunter but it didn't really pan out. In practice it can still be done with a substitute base but a 3-man box of roving Maneaters with customisable gear would be exquisite.

Yeah - Warcry could do that for all the factions - I'd love a box of dwarf rangers for instance. We can hope..

Where are my beasties? While I wouldn't mind if they released more kits for the stick people, please do not tell me that they are a replacement for the kurnothi beasties.

Whitefang has said they are coming as their own thing, but not soon. I'm focusing on my Kharadron and a few other projects in the meantime 😉

Really hope that "backlash of life" or whatever quote holds true.
Ideally with Sylvaneth getting some love. One thing I don't like that much is the the tree spirit man, revenant guys. Feels like blue elfs in bark power armour.

I'd love to see other Sylvaneth types along the lines of Drycha/Dryads/Hunters, although that Revenant looks like a lovely painting project. If the Sylvaneth got a 6kit release like Slaanesh/Lumineth they'd be an amazing range.

    26 minutes ago, Aeryenn said:

I on the other hand love Revenants. They should have Aelf keyword.

They are really well sculpted- I haven't managed to like them for some reason, the Kurnothi totally float my boat though- good thing about AoS is there is room for both! That floating piper looks great though - I'm betting he's the equivalent of a Sylvaneth war machine - powered by life magic channelled through the earth.

Yeah! Honest Wargamer speculated it'll be something to do with Epic 40k/HH. They have the titans and flyers already from Titanicus and Aeronautica respectively, would make sense to add infantry and tanks too and make it into a broader game.

I wasn't entirely serious but I've recently come across some fan made 3d printed Warmaster scale sculpts and they are fantastic.. would love to see GW do something that scale for either or both systems.. epic AoS..

It's the skull of a forest Dragon, you can see it in the video.

I really love this model. It's graceful, it's floating and it has a dragn on its base! ❤️

Thats a beautiful model, very graceful- it gives me Dark Crystal vibes for some reason. Really love it,  not a named character either - I wonder if they will get any more, I'd love to see more for the Sylvaneth and see this design approach broaden the range, it would be spectacular [plus leave space for Kurnothi to be their own thing .. 😇].

My guess is the Saturday reveal is 3rd Ed AoS - gives them space to do a big reveal and go into a bit of depth. Might be Old World but just due to timing AOS looks like the hot ticket. Can't wait!

If Kragnos is the last book, then that's extremely disappointing.  So many plot threads from throughout the soul Wars have yet to be resolved or expanded on. And so many characters are left in this nebulous state where we don't really know what they are doing at the moment.

I am really hoping we get 1 or 2 more books post Kragnos.  Broken Realms might be the best campaign series that GW has put out and I don't want this ride to end.

They are just setting up the narrative for 3rd ed-look at it this way -this could continue for the whole of next edition... I fully expect Alarielle's forces to rise, Kurnoth to return and Grungni to make his presence felt [and thats just the stuff I mad keen on- I also expect a few pleasant surprises]. But I don't expect any of these things before 3rd ed, perhaps not even for a while after the launch. But 3rd ed looks fantastic from the perspective of narrative.

Really hope the new model is Sylvaneth, they badly deserve a little boost in viability. Just give them something haha. Really hope we see some new Sylvaneth units alongside too so we don’t have to Kurnothi Hunter spam.

Yeah looks like this is the Lady of Vines, really looking forward to seeing her. Sylvaneth could with more- ,maybe new types of Dryads and some new classes of forest spirit. Something Drycha sized would be cool- between Treemen and Hunter size.

Before we knew it was attached to Kragnos the common consensus was that it was a Duardin thing. The charms attached represent the different Duardin cultures (Hammer for Dispossessed, Ship's Wheel for KO, Axe head for Fyreslayers), and it has a mountain in the top left similar to how WHFB dwarves depicted mountains. Now that we know it's the shield of Kragnos it's harder to say, but I would say it's still related.

My guess is Grungni or Grimnir is responsible for imprisoning Kragnos and killing off his people. His shield is made from the trophies he has claimed from killing lots of Duardin in revenge. I am still wondering if Kragnos is related to the Kurnothi, Beasts of Chaos, Bull Centaurs, or something new. If this is his face at the top then I want to say Beastmen but something is telling me he is a Destruction demigod.

Yeah I thought that shield was dwarf-related. He's not Kurnothi as Whitefang said he's Destruction and I tend to listen to what he says. Plus his design is more chunky/powerful which fits Destruction/Beasts. If he is an enemy of dwarfs Greenskins would suit him as they are the tradition foes of dwarfs. Maybe he leads the new wolf goblin faction? Lots to look forward to either way ..

Nah- that looks like Nids to me. The silhouette looks to be Sylvaneth - someone summoning/awaking spites..

This is all very interesting.. BR:Kragnos looks to be jam packed unless there is another final book [doubt it now with 3rd ed rumoured to be around the corner but you never know..].

Thanks! I just read Goonhammer's lore review at it certainly explain Kroak and be'lakor's motivations much better. It doesn't mention anything about the mysterious kharadron, which seems a weird thing to left out.
    https://www.goonhammer.com/lore-review-broken-realms-belakor/

I think thats just a case of personal emphasis - the other report told the story differently glossing over Kroak, probably just what excites the individual reviewer. Really good to read a different account and see what Kroak was thinking - and he still hasn't been released so he has more to do in BR Kragnos.

Still definitely needed more duardin action..

Tau kits don't have any oval bumps on them. It's definitely Eldar, hopefully a sign of a substantial release for them.

Going back to AoS. There's something about the blood knights that isn't doing it for me. It might just be the colour scheme but they don't look as savage as I would like. Also the horses look slightly short though that might the camera angle. It's disappointing that we still haven't seen a full profile shot.

Yeah Eldar I think - plus don't Tau only have 3 fingers?

On the Blood Dragon article- love the bare heads! Especially love there is a female vamp leader head, with Kurnothi being in the far distance I might grab a few to paint up.

  12. Kragnos doesn’t look like a happy bear-elk-centaur... it will be interesting what he means to Destruction- I’d love to see him lead some sort of beastly force.

the twins I was not expecting ... lovely models -BR: Kragnos looks like a cracker .. Slaaneshi cultist uprising in excelsis? Hunted down by witch hunters perhaps ... How Kroak fits in I’m not sure - the Spear of Mallus must have something of import to Slaanesh. Do the twins manifest there?
The New Born featuring so soon  I’m hoping Grungni’s plans are just beyond the release of 3rd Ed.

What are our hopes for today's BR model? Personally Kragnos is up there for me, unless there is a certain named Gargant who may appear....? Please.

Wild hope- surprise me with Grungni/new dwarf model[s].

Really looking forward to seeing Kragnos but AoS is in such an interesting place anything would be good to see.

Im intrigued about the new rumoured stormcast - they sound like they with be getting the same treatment as the  Marines sword brethren - which were awesome [and I don't like marines].

Maybe we'll get more soulblight- new dire wolves maybe? They might Kragnos under wraps for a wee while longer .

Overall, I am surprised how much I am enjoying Broken Realms. Do the campaign books from 40K and LOTR hold up as much as this ongoing narrative?

I heard some negative things about Psychic Awakening.

I only bought/read one Blood of Baal as I'm a Nid fan- I found the fiction very bland and limited - there where a lot of Blood Angel rules - it just felt like they used the book to introduce primaris Blood Angels, you never really got the sense of lore progression, especially from the Nid side of things. The BR books sound great- tempted to buy Belakor - the story sounds good and Dwarfs being epic in it sort of seals the deal.

I really want Kharadron Overlords wave 2 at this point. I love them but they feel like such a limited army to try and collect compared to the others. After that I want to see a third dwarf faction like the dwarf gollems hinted at in lore or something like that. Dwarves got too big of a shortstick in AoS at this point.  I hope this isn't some consolation prize to tide us over while they ignore us with models. This is even worse for Fyreslayers.

Me too- I'm a collector rather than a gamer- I love the Kharadrons, they are such a cool faction- they would be epic if they got expanded. Bugmansson was excellent and they do seem to be very prominent in the AoS universe so I'm hopeful.

I an guessing it’s Grungni not Grombi

As long as it means more dwarfs I'm happy!

    +1!

I’d love AoS-indies classic dwarves with crazy mounts, pikes and cool new heavily armoured units, which has a subfaction that can build an army out of all duardin models of AoS 😍

Yeah, I love Kharadron but there is definitely space for a Hold based AoS dwarf faction, away for the Sigmar cities. They've gotten really good at sculpting dwarfs I'd love to see what they come up with for a fresh take on classic dwarfs.

  16. 1 hour ago, Televiper11 said:

It’s not Grungni. The “white dwarf” in the White Dwarf serial that clearly prequels BR: Bel’akor directly states that he’s not a God like Grungni.

Does it state what he is? Belakor only acknowledged an entity not necessarily a god. Grombrindal is an ancestor spirit from the World that was so he could be pretty powerful. It’s never(to my knowledge) been stated how powerful he is or what he is. Grimnir, Grungni and Valaya were all ancestor spirits originally.. plus Belakor isn’t a god (he’s a very naughty boy), so it wouldn’t have to be a god that scared him. They have, of course deliberately kept this vague to keep us guessing , I really hope we get some new dwarf models in the not too distant future.

edit- has Belakor had a run in with Grungni in the past?

  17. I just love the idea of a Dwarf deity coming into play - it sets the dwarfs up to be a big player in 3rd ed- and thats with the KO throwing their weight around.  The thing with Belakor thinking the entity was lost also made me think of Grombridal rather than Grungni [but they could be the same thing]. I'm greedy so i'd like both but hasn't Grombridal just been touring the realms in WD articles? Plus Grungni has been in Asyr , unless that has hidden him in some way.

It will be interesting to see where they take the dwarfs next- they could deepen the KO or build a new united faction round them- either way more dwarfs is always good .

You have to reckon though that 3rd ed will centre around stormcast/CoS and destruction forces before anything else- I'm not expecting any new Duardin models for a while yet...

  18. It definitely looks like the dwarfs will be major players in 3rd ed- which I like.  From the spoilers its hard to understand exactly what happened to the realm gates as they are described as destroyed - then they are assaulted by Belakors forces. I'm fairly sure the KO don't rely solely on the realm gates to get around the realms  so they may have work arounds. Chamon being cut-off sounds very challenging for the forces there .. maybe the Seraphon will intervene to repair/replace the gates [which would make sense of Kroak's actions]. I'm temped to get this book for the narrative, they really are doing an ace job - 3rd ed setting is going to be class..

  19. 14 minutes ago, Chikout said:

If I was forced to make a bet on it, I would say that Kragnos will be the leader of the destruction faction that is coming in the 3rd edition starter box which may be Hobgloblinesque.

Personally I hope they are a bit more exotic. I would love a new Kurnothi army or a silent people army.

The other big question is whether Broken Realms 4 is the last in the series. I really hope we get at least one more.

I'm hoping for Kurnothi [so maybe fitting with Sylvaneth/order at the moment]. Hoping there is a 5th book in the BR series too the Belakor spoilers sound great for the setting.
