  1. I mean they can justify it now since the Era of the Beast is coming to a close and the wild energies from the Beast Realm are calming down a bit. So it lorefully can get weaker. My bets are it’ll end up doubling down on it’s abilities to “rampage” & eat spells so it becomes a high level battering ram you can summon to blast terrain & enemy living spells to have more control over the battlefield(probably big for Disciples of Tzeentch) But not a boss-level threat so can be taken out by average units & outright deleted by spell hunter units. Making it a Distraction Carnifex in other scenarios. But otherwise yeah, I’m really loving this new take on endless spells & (especially) terrain for what they can do match and Narratively. 👍 (also really happy they connected the Silver Swords to Elixia and the silver banshee, I was okay they had another origin with that Chamon queen but reading about them defending the city in Quest for Ghal Maraz 2 years before they got models made it a bit odd they didn’t build on them more then) Edit: on the “hit spells with a club” thing, remember back in Malign Portents sometimes smaller cities were hiring spell bounty hunters to take down those supernatural disasters with literal swords and a bit of runic/prayer paper to help them corral the living spells. 😄 Hoping we’ll see more on that now with warbands of Freeguild schmoes with blessed hammers being the only thing standing between a city (paying them) and a Purple Sun that’s hungry for souls. 💀 🔨
  2. Personally hoping it’s because an Ironjawz spearhead is planned to go alongside the Vanguard. 🙏 🐗 Similar to how Blades of Khorne had their Bloodbound Starter Set & Khornite Vanguard together.
  3. Really? They’re $110 and she’s likely to cost as much as Ionus & Cthorak cost $130. getting them at $150 instead of $240 seems pretty decent for a deadly elite force like Ionus or King Trugg had
  4. If they do an AoS version all my money is on a Soultide or Gravetide set for next edition’s Order vs Death. probably Soultide to justify soul-taker enemies like Deepkin which is just begging for a literal Fatshark boss enemy.
  5. I doubt that doomer rumor from 4chan(so probably all fake anyway) has any weight to it. UnderWorlds has been ramping up in players and activity. The weekend Grand Clash at Warhammer World had a whopping 96 players show up from across Europe so I doubt it’s going anywhere when it’s got a strong following and is such an easy gateway into the hobby alongside Warcry. Also continuing to love the ideas people have for the Kroot stuff in AoS. Goldmine of kitbash of ideas for unique Realm of Beast units.
  6. I’m happy about it. Looks like the best middle grounds they can take and keep the system balanced without being overwhelmed by too many choices but not bland either. Meanwhile using Grand Alliances is a great move to keep flavor up and give a narratives to the Alliance system(certainly happy they’re using it for more than an organization site) We’re still looking at things in voids but I honestly think when we see the whole package and how all the Azyrian cogs mesh with eachother AoS4 is gonna be a well oiled machine(that certain rats will want to take-steal) Also loved Honestwargamer’s memes on it.
  7. Well small shift. How we think Seraphon are gonna be handled between Starborne & Coalesced? Looking at Blades of Khorne it feels like they’re gonna keep that flavor. So my guess is Battle traits split between the 2. starborne: “Beamed down, Deploy units into the Celestial Realm to be summoned by Slann or Star priest keyword units.”(wee bit more restrictive than Stormcasts who can pop units down anywhere instead as they combo’d their traits for it) ”Ethereal, all infantry & cavalry units gain the Ethereal trait.(all Hits against them become 4+ & gain a 6+ Ward) Coalesced: Bites & Scaly skin are back for extra attacks & saves to the big bois. (also saw the green highlight conversation in rumors. I say it’s just color coding. It’s on too many different Warscrolls to have any significance)
  8. Yeah. My money’s on Rat Ogors tomorrow too. Basics- Libs vs Clan rat. Big Elites- Reclusians vs rat Ogor Support- Prosecutors vs Jezzails then more of a hero & unique unit free-for-all
  9. I’m surprised to hear some people are already taking the tiny bits of rules we have so far and flavoring their games with them to get a taste of the new edition and are really enjoying it. Between that and how amazing the starter boxes already look AoS4 is gonna burst out of the starting gates. 🎉 (So I am stock piling my hobby funds to grab all the launch stuff ASAP. I’m doubting we’ll have another Dominion situation with the hype levels already going high now)
  10. Haha, I spent two months hunting that Yndrasta book down and they just make it appear anyway like a bolt coming down from high Azyr. 😂⚡️ Excited for the Mortal Realms one and hope DB6 is soon so Abraxia can lead all this new Darkoath armies popping up👹 Also, @KingBrodd Kroot seem to be opening up the doors to new Destruction ideas. 🤔 ❄️
  11. This. That’s probably the best compromise they’ll ever do for AoS. Narrative for Path to Glory (& hopefully Anvil of Apotheosis) to customize characters in friendly campaigns and narrative events which can help encourage kitbashing to make “ur dudes” Then it’s a easy hop over to Matched Play using those models, which though balanced like all the others, you know the stories to and can take pride in that. Like I was just watching Crendor does Warhammer on YouTube and he has a new video today about AoS4 rules & flavor and I agree with him saying “flavor does not mean more options”, because more often than not those are all illusions of choice as people take the best meta ones anyway despite having like 40 different magic item options. A rough lesson GW learned back in AoS2 with Realm Relics when you could give your heroes choices between like 60 different Realms flavored power-ups but everyone just taking the main most powerful 4, which is why options got watered more and more down over the years. So just avoiding that whole mess and putting it in Narrative would be the best strategy in my book. Flavor players get what they want and Matched balance isn’t warped.
  12. If we’re doing unit wishlists for bigger factions then put me down for hoping the Ruination Chamber cavalry are those large horned bull-drake things we saw in the Phoenicium art. 🐮 Would fit the Reclusian’s bulkier Paladin forms for heavy mounts. Match-up with both Hallowed Knights having heavy Ghyran connections & the “shadow over Phoenicium” plotline. And could lead to some nice lore that they’re ornery monsters that need looong times of bonding with someone to allow them to mount. Which Reclusians could’ve been doing as their monastery hobby to help get over their traumas by having a bond-beast to fill the void in their souls. Edit: on the cavalry/monster spectrum I can see it as: Draconiths- powerful generalist units, costly but good at anything. Dracoths- versatile anti-hordes with their Storm breath attacks. Palladors- fast light cavalry that can teleport stormstrike chariot- potent line-breaker warmachine bull-drake- plodding armored objective pushers, probably anti-monster.
  13. Well in the world-that-was 60 grots & 20 warriors didn’t represent your entire armies either. 😄 The AoS scale for that would be 15 grots vs 5 chaos warriors who definitely could kill off those mean greens.(by AoS4 max now it’s 40 grots vs 20 chaos which is an easy win) Same with the vamps that it’s just a different system. It’s no longer super guy surrounded by weak chaff. AoS is medium leaders(unless a big beast) supported by medium hordes with a legendary in the “Lord” bracket. So I don’t think there’s a real solution here beyond just knowing they are apples & oranges to eachother in which different taste you’re going for. Big grindy battles with lots of nuance & charts or quick mass skirmish where everyone’s more equaled out. If they buff regular heroes to be too tanky & killy to where they can solo half an army then in a game with 50 or less models it’s gonna dive into HeroHammer real quick. Best case scenario so far from the current reveals is heroes can either join units or have a bubble around them that uses them the units as a mobile health bar so the heroes can do more without dying to all the equally dangerous stuff blowing up the realmscapes around them. Otherwise they just gotta remain bubble buffers that look cool. Edit: though admittedly that’s probably not happening since we saw a Khorne hero can take even more heroes. If super killy and can be made into dance sponges they wouldn’t have allowed that much spam already.
  14. Well note they’ve been wanting to do it for a long time, so said the writers about this. Higher ups just didn’t pull the trigger since they already made all male models so they said keep it that way. Probably changing it now since that’ll give the “Femstartes” people(and writers) have been asking for without being too lore breaking since Custodes are made entirely different with advanced & arcane bio means compared to lesser gene-seeds.
  15. It’s just Chuds being Chuds, it’s already starting to full down now that their main instigators are moving onto attacking Battletech & Pokemon for going “Woke”(though the Pokemon Go avatar is atrocious, no two ways about that. But that’s laziness, not agendas) They’re just being ridiculous now anyone like believing a 4chan poster(who literally said “trust me my uncle works at Nintendo”) about Amazon forcing the change and Cavill about to walk out. When the YouTubers are reporting stuff like that as credible you know they’re out of stuff to whine with. 😂 Yeah, they both have much thinner bellies which I’m guessing could be the aesthetics of Man-Eaters & other Alliance Ogors going forward. Gutbusters & Beastclaws= big stomachs from unchecked eating that caused massive damages in the Realmscapes that showed their migration paths. Order, Chaos, Death Ogors: flatter stomachs from either having to manage their food intake to exist in a city, chaos cruelty or either being undead or death powers siphoning nutrition.
  16. That’d be nice if the shared reason the Iron Golems(which also has a Chuardin in it) & Hashut warbands are going away is because neo-Man Eaters units & Chaos Duardin are in the cards for AoS4(and will flesh out those units/warbands anyway)
  17. Yeah, the main reason the World-that-was vampires were so broken is because they Were the lynchpin of the army. You killed the vampire and the whole army literally crumbled away without their presence. So had to be super hard to even hurt. In AoS not only are there entire warbands of vampires & common cavalry squadrons of Blood knights but the units themselves like skeletons are very self-sufficient(many actually being sentient skeletons from a Deathrattle kingdom that joined up with the vampires to protect them from the Ossiarchs who want to turn basic skelies into golem parts) So the vampires are watered down as there’s already so many of them instead of one or a handful being a super rare sight(on the contrary there’s entire empires of them in Shyish, I imagine eventually we’ll see a proper vampire infantry unit too. We already technically have some) But we can get insane legendary heroes like a buffed Radukar since they’re heroes of heroes and close to nigh on gods of power. Similar situation for chaos champions now and we’re even seeing new Stormcast legendary heroes with near a thousand years of deeds & experience turned into units(Reclusians) it’s the whole “everything’s special so nothing’s special” thing at work so the pros & cons of that are pretty much up to your tastes and which aesthetics you prefer.
  18. (At the start) ”Hey we should do an Era of the Beast to incorporate the BoC better as we expand with primordial elemental models and more factions getting beastly units & heroes!” ”Hey yeah, good idea!” (around 2020 global problems & TOW divide lines) ”Okay so the idea is already going but things…changed.” ”How so?” ”Well. It’s still gonna be called the Era of the Beast but it’s gonna also be the END of the Era of the Beast.” ”Oh….”
  19. Yep that’s even in the OG Bonesplitterz tome from 2016. A force of highly disciplined ‘Ardboyz were fighting a horde of Bloodletters and keeping tight ranks but were slowly getting overwhelmed by the daemons who had ripped a portal open nearby so they just kept swarming through. Then a horde of wild Bonesplitterz charged in and their mad energy destabilized the daemons enough that the orruks overwhelmed them But it was so infectious that even the disciplined ‘Ardboyz began ripping off their armor and running wild with the Bonesplitterz as they heard the drums of Gorkamorka pound in their heads drowning out their thoughts. Wrekkaz felt A Lot like that Bonesplitterz flavor incorporated into the Ironjawz. I imagine we’ll see more of that as the force grows between heavy infantry, giant monsters and more “weird boyz” shaman brutes. Also someone mentioned contrasts on the new stuff? Painters are showing off Darkoath on Twitter and they’re gorgeous! 🤩 Absolutely love the energy of the models and dynamic posing AoS gives them so every model down to the skirmishing basic infantry stands out like this in battle because wow!
  20. Yeah I think Firebellies can keep their place(and even be built on for a Aqshy unit*) despite just having Gut Magic. Just move their powers to ranged flame attacks with the “can shoot in melee” rule(if Flamethrowers aren’t a universal thing) and one Spell Lore as a passive ability(like Billowing Ash reducing enemy hits in a bubble around him) and they can be extremely useful in the next edition. Then if they get an Aqshy themed unit they can do something fun like if in range of eachother they “stoke the flames” to increase the effect of flamethrowers & ash passives. *on that I forgot to post this in the “ideas for Ogors thread” but saw this fantastic Jungle Ogor army last month and would love them to be a new Gutbuster theme for both the hot tropics of Aqshy And all the vicious jungles(both natural & Realmshaper formed) in Ghur: But also I hope while in Aqshy we stop by the searing arctic & crackling ice coasts of Cotha for a new Beastclaw Raiders Everwinter priest(pretty please, GW. Be cool. 🙏 ❄️)
  21. I had a talk about this on Twitter before. CoS could also get Astra Militarum commands & “Doctrines” to help show their cities & realm diversities.
  22. That’s also thematic since Bonesplitterz represented Gorkamorka’s beating heart and they worshipped his combined two-headed essence. With them gone the faction splitting into heavier Gork Gorruks vs Mork Morruks is rather fitting. 😄
  23. Made it happier than I thought it would to see Bloodbound stay as a keyword. Thought Blades of Khorne would have absorbed it(will ascended Khul make Bloodbound great again?! 😄) Also the Ironjawz shaman warscroll was the biggest highlight(besides seeing Endless Spells mostly remaining the same besides becoming a lore). Green vomit projectile got a great laugh out of me and very nice to see “Ironjawz” untouched. I’m definitely in camp separate battletomes since it means expanding the armies and balancing them better as they’re focused on separately(instead of “cripple Krule melee because they have Ironjawz”). Though we need to see how it pans out, but if Big Waaagh is gone at least there’s always the possibility of ally options(auxiliaries?) to mix them back for people using that force.
  24. All I can think for simplicity sake is it’ll be a grab bag of stuff to summon endless spells, the incarnate(probably reworked into an endless spell) and faction terrain but under new universal effects like “manifestation explodicus wave” will let you use any of the larger ones for a big offensive blast that travels in a line(Pendulum, Ghur gnashing teeth, burning head) and magic terrain summoned for a number of purposes. But that’s a complete shot in the dark guess with me thinking they want things in simpler amounts and made more customizable like maybe you want Tangrim Fyreslayers summoning Lightning snakes(DoK blood snake painted blue), comets(SCE comet) and a floating Azyr samurai shrine(Lumineth shrine) to theme whatever you want? (feel free to laugh at me when everything actually has Warscrolls and operates like normal and I’m just a big dummy. 😂)
  25. She really did, even After the Bonesplitterz shaman impaled her with that giant army destroying Amber Spear spell. Still managed to kill him & his allied beast army which caused the bray shaman to retreat and the Incarnate to dissipate. And still was able to talk to Karazai afterwards and heal up instead of(what I thought was gonna happen) blast off to reforge. She’s a celestial badass. That is even in the current tome lore. Lots of rivalries still spring up between the “new model army” Steelhelms in red & silver with the new Aqshy heraldries vs the landsknecht old guard of blue & gold flying Hammerhal’s old face sigils for Hammerhal. I super doubt they’ll ever touch on that in models but lore & custom narrative-wise it’s really fun.
