  1. Im actually tempted by the Ossiarch box. I really like the Deathrider, and If they are priced like the previous ones its a pretty good deal.

But oh well, not this time. Im going all in with Lumineth first. I hope they at least keep the already high price level of the first wave and dont go even higher. The preview article on Warhammer-Community also some interesting informations. The Bladelords all hail from the Tyronic half of Hysh and Ullanor is the representative of the Tyronic Nations, and "voice of the Phoenix Lord". Oh! And the twins can join *any* Order army. Very interesting.

Just had a look at the warscroll...

7 & 8. So with the Dwarf Cannon you mentioned, it would up to the controlling player where wounds would be allocated. This could leave the cannon with no crew or the crew with no cannon to fire depending on how you allocate wounds. If you are engaged with a cannon with no crew left, you would have to finish it off or retreat to move away from it.

The Dwarf Cannon still uses the old first Edition wording where Crew and Cannon were two different units that can move and act independently. An enemy can for example just target the Crew and leave the Machine without Operator. They would still be locked in combat, but the Cannon would be unable to do anything. Modern warmachines fixed that by removing the crew alltogether in Game Terms (See Stormcast Ballista or Cities of Sigmar Helblaster)

Sisters of Battle vehicle/terrain for sure.

Are they missing any vehicles that weren't updated in their release?

I think this will be something complety new. Neither the new Hero, or the Paragon Knights existed before. So I assume this release will be themed around adding new concepts to the Sororitas.

Fair. Neither of the other BR books seem to have much connection to Soulbound that I know of, but fair.

Shadows in the Mist really focus on how the Blackscale Coil and their infiltration of Anvilgard, the city guide also expands on many locations mentionend in BR:Morathi. There is quite an overlap between the two. Settler's Gain was also mentionend in Champions of Order before the BR Short Story was released.

  5. One reason that speaks for a Broken Realms: Alarielle is Soulbound.

    Quote

    BLACKENED EARTH

Blackened Earth is the second campaign for Soulbound and will see heroes travel to the city of Greywater Fastness in Ghyran. Greywater Fastness is an industrial behemoth and its smog-shrouded streets are filled with churning refineries and gun foundries. This relentless industrialisation has decimated the surrounding land and has led the city to the brink of war with the neighbouring Sylvaneth. The Soulbound are placed squarely between these two factions and must try to prevent open war from erupting between the forces of Order. However, those within the city would like nothing more than an escalation in conflict, and will do whatever it takes to trigger a war.

Blackened Earth explores the cost of war and presents players with difficult decisions where there is no right answer. It is meant for new Soulbound heroes and is expected to release in PDF in Q3 and will be in stores in Q4.

The current Campaign, Shadow in the Mist, set in Anvilgard, heavily ties in with the events of Broken Realms Morathi. They released the Anvilgard City guide directly after BR:Morathi and they incorporated many elements from that book. They even stated they work very closely with the AoS team. Blackened Earth will be the first expansion not primarily set in Aqshy. So leaving the Realm of Fire for Greywater plus the focus on the conflict between the city and the Sylvaneth there makes me think a Broken Realms book themed around this is very likely.

But since we're only 1 book into an at least 3 part Broken Realms saga, it's hard to guess where the next phase of story is going. The absence of destruction in them is suspicious ,maybe building to a starter, or maybe there's a 4th BR: Gordrakk book that they'll cram in before next ed.

The Broken Realms short story are building up a showdown at Excelsis. The very first short story showed an Orruk realizing something is coming, then we had a short story showing Gordrakk using his godbeast ram and asseambling an united DESTRUCTION force of Orruks, Grots, Ogors and Gargants, and there is a short story were Skragrott the Loonking receives a prophecy about him dying at the gates of Excelsis.  Plus the short story were Glutos and Sigvald get tasked with marching towards Excelsis too.

I am not sure about that. Do you really see any Destruction army being a part of starter boxes that appeal to Newcomers? Soulblight Gravelords are a saver bet even for veterans because they will buy up those boxes aswell. That scheme already worked with new Necron units in 40K.

Orks are a classic fantasy (the genre) race. I could see a Stormcasts vs. Ironjawz doing very well.

Orks appeal to newcomer, and new Ironjawz to the content starved Orruk Wartribes players.

I'm not saying this isn't the case, but it strikes me as odd because OBR literally already has a named variant of the Liege-Kavalos in Arch-Kavalos Zandtos. Zandtos himself has a special hatred for the living (though Chaos in particular if I'm not mistaken) and would likely make a perfectly good opponent for Lyrior without needing to come up with a new character.

Then again, they may have wanted an opponent to Lyrior that could become a more personal nemesis (which would be cool.) We'll have to wait and see!

To be fair, the Idoneth were in the same situation with Volturnos, and they turned the generic Akhelian King into a seperate character, King Nemmetar.

Blood Knights! So along with this preview...

...a new Soulblight Army pretty much has to be a thing, right?

Yeah, the Vampire leak confirmed "Soulblight Gravelords" as new faction. That would also fit the "Lords of the Realms" title for tomorrows Stream.

Wait, from the prayers page and I just noticed after watching that HWG vid, priests can now attempt every prayer they know? Isn't that pretty big?

The warscrolls for the Hag and Slaughter Queen state that they can only attempt one of the prayers on their warscroll. So I assume that part on the prayer lore is meant to be a more general description how prayers work. Why otherwise bothering with introducing this specific limit on the warscroll?

I don't necessarily disagree but there are 2 big problems here. 1 is that a lot of the last handful of battletomes to come out have been built for the absolute top of the top. Seraphon, KO, Slaanesh, Tzeentch, all top tier contenders. Why did the 'build for the middle' philosophy wait until now?

Second, our options are less varied and rely more on one or two powerful tricks than before. Blood Stalkers are pretty much the be all end all of the book.

Funny that you mention Kharadrons. The KO chat was full of people crying about them being trash, and nerfed into the ground when the book dropped last year, and look at them now.
Just wait for a bit and play before saying its bad.

  12. I have been playing my Daughters of Khaine since the original launch and im pretty happy with the changes. I really like Khinerai and Melusai, but I always felt pressured into taking Hagg Nar and taking Witch Aelfs/Sisters of Slaughter, no matter what.

With the changes to the subfactions, point costs, army building it feels like we can see more diversity in list building in the future. I dont need an S-tier army, I just want to build a list with models that I like and have some fun. And the new stuff really helps with that. I like that we now can take the improved Blood Stalkers as battleline option, and that we also have the option to chose between Ironscales or Medusas for Melusai armies.

  13. So, judging from the Slaanesh lore article a few days ago, GW will announce the Battletome this sunday (and Daughters of Khaine too?). What are the chances we get all the kits in one go? Myrmydesh, Slaangors, Blissbarb Archers, Seekers, Sigvald, Shardspeaker and Glutos, or am I missing something?

Ghyran would surprise me, with Nurgle being in BR Teclis. So perhaps it could be related to Alarielle/Sylvaneth saying "****** you all" to Order and going back to their more "we hate everyone" roots, with Kurnothi and such.

One interesting thing, Cubicle7 was working closely together with GW on the "Shadow in the Mist" campaign for Soulbound, set in Anvilgard. Only releasing the City Guide after the release of Broken Realms: Morathi and producing material for Har Kuron.

The next big campaign is "Blackened Earth", set in Greywater Fastness and focusing on the conflict between the local city and the Sylvaneth. Which would fit in nicely with a Broken Realms: Alarielle.

I think that this second wave of models was made or at least in the works when it was written as it seems all those shadows match up nicely. Would be cool to see it fleshed out even further however I’d also like pre existing factions to get that love more.

Oh absolutely. It takes around 2 years on average to create new kits (we got that timeframe stated multiple times from people working for GW), so the second wave was atleast very close to done when the Battletome was written.

I dont think its unlikely that the whole Lumineth range (Tyrion + the other temples) is already done and only waiting for a release slot. GW stated that all the Primaris units were made at the same time and have been slowly released over the course of 8th and now 9th edition.

So, as I've stated before I don't plan to go above 1k for a while (till wave 2 gets out at least). It looks like my LGS has two boxes of wardens and one dawnriders. I'm for sure getting one Warden but should i get the other or the dawn rider?  The rest of the army will be 20 archers, a stonemage and a spirit of the mountain. I'm leaning towards dawn riders myself. Plan is to go Ymetrica just fyi.

I believe having atleast one unit of Dawnriders is always useful. They are fast (even more so with Speed of Hysh), good against chaff units and useful for casting Lambent Light.

These new archers are called Hurakan (pronounced Hurricane?) Windchargers.  So not Vanari, which presumably means they are definitely part of the Wind Temple, known as Hurakan.  The new mounted Lord is Vanari, but can, it appears from the blurb, lead all Lumineth cavalry into battle whether Vanari or not.  I'm looking forward to seeing the rules for these units and those not yet disclosed.

Hurakan was a mayan wind god. I think it would be weird to name the whole temple after an existing god. But its position in the unit name suggest that there is a group named like this... Its weird.

I would prefer them to be named after the Wind Rune Orealith, to fit in with the Alarith (named after the Mountain Rune)

I think the Roo riders are the same as the preview mount. The preview one is just the unit champion.

I dont think so. The armor (on the mount and the rider) are different. Smooth vs. the Elemental temple pattern. And the fur of the mount is more textured on the previewed model.

So on Saturday I think maybe we see

    llama riding cav hero

    this kangaroo archer unit

    fox spirit

    cloud mage

that’s a decent sized wave 2 taking lumineth from 9 kits to 13 of the roughly 20 I think we’ll have by the time we have wave 4.

Yep, sounds very likely. Maybe one more Vanari unit or Hero (or maybe the Llama is a dual built kit).
What do we think on the kangaroo unit min. size? 3 or 5?

It is from old warhammer fantasy lore, dwarfs used hammers or axes and NEVER swords and elfs used swords and lances but never hammers.

Hammers was a dwarf weapon and sword for elfs in fantasy lore so it is pretty hard to see elfs with hammers as if now gw release a new dwarf army with longswords and myself would see it weird

    Are you sure about that?

    img44e3ca2235b85.jpg.2fe56ce3e782e0176cd423ff73b32ff5.jpgunnamed.jpg.7ec4785f068b859910fb13d2585c7e18.jpg

    Plenty of Dwarfs with swords.
We also had both elves and dwarfs with axes in Warhammer. So its not like they were always the opposite from each other.
