With the release of the Skaven Battletome its time to get my Clans Moulder back of the tables!

Firstly, I love the new book.

I was quite happy with how my army played before hand, the only thing I didn't like was how flimsy packmasters were and the lack of command ability in the army - but fortunately that's been improved with the new Master Moulders.

And having the option to pick command traits and relics for the army is ace.

Here's the army I'm going to be using for the next few games, I've taken out my Stormfiends and will be trying out the Flesh Menagerie.

Master Moulder (Throt the Unclean), with Stonehorn Blade and Moulder Supreme

    Master Moulder with Rabid Crown

    Master Moulder (in the menagerie)

    3 x 4 Rat Ogors

    5 x 10 Giant Rats

    2 x Hell Pit Abomination

    2 x Wolf Rats

    Flesh Menagerie battalion

    2,000pts

The day of the book release me and a friend had a clan war between my Clans Moulder and his Clans Pestilens to see what was what. Great games were had, awful photos are below (we were fighting an underground war so the lighting is dark).

So yeah, very happy with the book. More to come.

Looks awesome! I too want to do moulder. Are small units of giant rats worth while, missing out on all the unit bonuses?

I believe storm fiends are still decent for moulder as they don't break allegiance although sadly cannot benefit from artefacts like the rabbit crown. Odd considering it was thrott who created them

  2. Hello I wish to try out my new painted Caegan lodge dwarves. I had the idea of an objective style deck using the ones posted above as a basis.  The deck list is posted below. Is the following board a suitable choice ? For long and horizontal respectively

    Objectives (12)
    119 - Ferocious Charge
    124 - Scion of Grimnir
    248 - Contained
    252 - Defensive Strike
278 - Our Only Way Out
    296 - Tactical Supremacy 1-2
    297 - Tactical Supremacy 3-4
    L24 - Shining Example
    N310 - Denial
    N319 - Fired Up
    N357 - Opening Gambit
    N374 - Supremacy

    Gambits (10)
    129 - Oathsworn
    132 - The Earth Shakes
    133 - Treasure-lust
    310 - Confused Priorities
    329 - Great Concussion
    334 - Inspiration Strikes
    347 - Quick Thinker
    348 - Ready for Action
    361 - Spectral Wings
    N441 - Regal Vision

    Upgrades (10)
    136 - Activated Runes
    142 - Grimnir's Fortitude
    143 - Grimnir's Speed
    373 - A Destiny to Meet
    376 - Awakened Weapon
    384 - Deathly Fortitude
    387 - Flickering Image
    416 - Shardcaller
    424 - Tethered Spirit
    N499 - Faneway Crystal

I meant decks that focus on objective play only. There used to be decks running all the hold objective X cards etc etc. That playstyle is dead. Splashing supremacy is great

What do you do if you get board placement and the enemy gets 3 objectives? My main opponent plays goblins and regularly covers every objective in his board half has a matter of course

I don't quite buy into all forms of objective play being dead. Having Supremacy and/or Our Only Way Out tucked away into a defense oriented deck is still viable in my mind.

Some examples that I've noticed from recent tournaments:

Clash In The North 2018 - Sepulcheral Guard 1st place (Deck linked here)
Running both Supremacy and Our Only Way Out. Has quite a few options for pushing/teleporting onto objectives.

UK Team Championships Grand Clash 2018 - Thorns of the Briar Queen on the 1st place team (Deck linked here)
Another Supremacy/Our Only Way Out combo. Built more aggressively than the SG deck, but still has solid push options.

@Skritt I think that deck is looking good. Some suggestions:

    1. You might want to try to fit one more immediate in there somewhere. Swarming Spirits seems like a very solid option to me, as I don't think it's too tough to score. You could also run Change of Tactics given that you're running Spectral Parry (more on that later).

    2. I'd recommend trying to fit Quick Advance into your gambits somewhere. Having that double push could very well make or break some pivotal objective holds.

    3. You might want to consider swapping out Spectral Parry for Inspired Command. The latter gives you the flexibility of a push or guard as long as your leader is still alive. Alternatively you may simply want to swap it out for something entirely different (Quick Advance?). Most decks that I see running a gambit which allows you to immediately put a fighter on guard generally also run Change of Tactics for a potential easily scored immediate 1 glory.

    4. Do you actually need Shardcaller? Your objectives don't appear to be setting you up to want any specific numbered objectives. Shardcaller doesn't really help with this strategy as far as I can tell.

Solid advice. Yes I was going to include tactical supremacy and tactical genius but then decided against it

  5. How should I use varclavs ability ? I found I could kill stuff ok but couldn't figure out how to use his ability effectively. Do you use his lushes to group up the warband first before making attacks? How many push and movement ploys is ideal in a deck? I found my ever hanged often gets killed vast but varclav is a beast

Also I found my chainrasps have difficulty either doing damage or hitting depending.  I considered including weapon upgrades - ranged ones like shade glass darts and the tzeench orbs or a shade glass sword or dagger to actually allow chain rasps to be a threat

Nightvault warbands are coming along, knocked out the Cursebreakers and Thorns.  I'm still a "lazy amateur", just a basecoat, wash and cleanup the details kind of guy but I like the results for the time spent:

Is the ghosty parts just nikhalah oxide wash? What about the grey

    That's not how it works.

    See the Firestorm FAQ.

In short, you can only take Fist of the Everchosen when you are using Grand Alliance allegiance. If your army has any other allegiance, you cannot add the Firestorm factions and abilities to it.

They FAQ'd this, after a heavy backlash from the community.

On another note, I just realized that you probably just made a typo, but I'll post this regardless so newer players might not be confused.

I mean as an alternative to khorne. I am aware it got FAQ'd to only be it plus grand alliance chaos. I think it could be a rivial

  8. Anyone considering stuff like Fist of the Everchosen? You chose the khorne artefacts prayers and abilities but you gain fluffy use of mages and endless spells, re-roll charge for all your guys near heroes (not just khorne either), +2 bravery for all units near heroes as well as unpredictable destruction (+1 to hit sometimes for your units). Also tzeench units so you can have some ranged units in there. With the realm magic items and endless spells it does seem like more of an option
