  1. I don’t think soul war will be the next Shadespire (or rather, I don’t think it will just be the new shadespire). The cover art we saw for the novel was much more large scale than the tiny skirmish of shadespire, with beasts and stuff in the background (and rumours of Stormcast on flying mounts). At the very least I expect a Blight War type box, if not a new starter.

    Regarding this picture:

That one skaven, at the feet of the super-cool spearman/halberd person at the top of the pile of skaven, does he have horns? Thanquol horns? Any thoughts? Might be a hint of things to come.

Thanquol isn’t the only Skaven with horns. All the Grey Seers have them.

I have no evidence to support this, but I have a feeling that Tyrion n Teclis are fused together similar to a Siamese twin.  I envisage that eventually they will have a single model that contains them both.

I don't think they'll be fused per say, but I definitely can see them being one model, with both of them together.

It definitely looks like two warp lightning canons on the sides, but I have no idea what the central wheel is from if it's a kit bash. It's certainly not the current doom wheel. It almost looks like it could be like a necron pylon or something, but I don't know the 40k range well enough to know for sure.

It is the doomwheel, just with the proportions played with. Has the same cross bit on the front and the blades at the bottom.

  5. The Isharann are all mages, the one with the Octopus is a character. The eyepatch guy on the Deepmare is a character, I’m guessing the other build is generic. The Akhelian are the marital ones (eel and shark riders and the seahorse characters) and the Namarti are the soulless ‘thralls’.

Have you bought it? Genuinely the first thing I said to my brother when we unboxed it:DThe whole box is packaged and written to present Age of Sigmar as the next step. Right down to the final layer of the box which is a flyer for the starter set. Painting suggestions and links etc.

It might not be it's main purpose but GW is definitely using Shadespire to introduce Age of Sigmar.

It introduces the hobby and the universe, yeah. I spose I meant more gameplay wise, it’s a different beast to wargaming really.

I like the fact that shadespire took off the way it did, but they REALLY have to start releasing the card decks separately for a much lower cost.

It's a competitive game in design, not a narrative one like AoS, and in order to be competitive, most decks contain a few cards from each single warband out there. This puts the starting costs for shadespire at a starterbox of €50, followed by an almost compulsory €135 worth of expansion boxes = €185! This isn't an introduction/hybrid into wargaming anymore, it's the actual price of an average decent sized warhammer army... It's actually one of the main reasons why it's hard to convince people in my gaming group to pick up the game.

I mean, it’s the whole business model of the game, basically. It’s the same as X wing. It’s not meant to be an introduction to wargaming, it’s a board game.

If Grand Alliances went away, then there is little issue in regards to list-building for having so much junk crammed into one or two Grand Alliances and the others being sparse.  You still have the issue of some armies and themes being neglected, but you don't have issues with some big giant soup lists having more possible ingredients than others.

If Grand Alliances went away, then the game would have a very large and diverse selection of armies currently.  And to be fair, the game does.  But, the Grand Alliance system puts those diverse forces into buckets that then make the distribution of armies in the game look very very skewed (which it is).  That was my point in the original comment.

Are 'soup' lists an issue though? From what i've seen most people stick to factions anyway, soup is more a 40k problem.

Back to the actual topic, all those rumour snippets with the small pictures seem to be mainly from 40K. After the Idoneth I am actually expecting like one or two smaller releases and then nothing for a while. It`ll be all super dark gothic stuff in the next time, I believe (though I wouldn`t mind being wrong :P ).

AoS is a bit more colorful and therefore might sell better pre-Christmas. From a salespoint of perspective that simply works better for triggering sales, isn`t it? GW has been producing more boxed games lately and pushes stronger into regular store chains. It does make sense to adjust the business strategy a bit to that.

Rumours from people who have been accurate so far talk about a new AoS box in the summer (Stormcast v Nighthaunt) and probably a Nighthaunt book as well.

I've noticed a lot of people predict that Slaanesh is soon(ish) due for a release but I was wondering if there was any basis to this other than it being the only Chaos god to not get a release? I'd really like it to get something, but from where I'm standing it seems unlikely.

While it's 40k, this rumour would suggest that it's Khorne getting a release this year (http://natfka.blogspot.co.uk/2018/03/rumors-angron-and-khorne-new-abbadon.html?m=1) and I doubt they'd have a big release for both Khorne and Slaanesh in the same year.

I think there was a warhammer tv video where one of the guys accidentally let slip about Slaanesh being soonish. Plus that Khorne rumour may well be nonsense.
