Looks like ScE Battletome is now on Last Chance to Buy. That means new one is coming with new edition.

As much as some people may dislike this, did we expect anything different? They are getting a ton of new models.

Also, it will be nice for SCE to get enclave/temple rules.  Yes I know plenty of armies could use this treatment, but it still is cool for SCE.

I think it is highly likely that the starter set will be the previewed minis including the two wizards. The dark imperium box set had two identical sprues for the primaris and death guard. This box looks like it will be the same. If you look at the sequitors, castigators, chainmail horde and not undead Skaven,  they are all made up of pairs of identical miniatures.

Also in the Warhammerfest displays there were alternative sculpts of most of the minis. There was an alternative nighthaunt wizard with the same mask but a different lantern. There was an alternative lord executioner, a male knight Incantor and alternative version of all the stormcast units including the warmarchine with different crew.

The only models without duplicates are the two big mounted guys.

Unfortunately that does mean we will get a couple of understrength units. I think GW will probably do some easy to build sets to fill out these units.

Yeah all of that seems likely to me.  I don't mind the monopose I guess (though I would like a full unit), they weren't hard to change from the first box set.

I also very much hope the full book is in the box set.  They did it with Dark Imperium, so it can be done!

This is a comment on lady atia's blog speculating on the boxed set contents that got hijacked by someone and fed to faeir as rumors.

A safer bet would be that all the stuff in the previews is what's in the starter set.

I’m confused. The stuff in the pic is exactly what has been in the previews.

Lists would just devolve into a bunch of high mobility monsters who charge at the same time and wipe out half the opponent's army in one go.  Sounds terrible.

Example: Vhordrai + 2 VLoZD.  Use command points to use all of their command abilities.  Fly across the board. Kill everything in sight.

There are countless other examples of combinations which, without the fear of losing a big point investment will just wipe out the majority of the opponent's force.  Unless of course we move from #hordemeta to #msuscreenmeta.

Gordrakk+mega boss on maw krusha + a bunch of pigs is another example that can get across the board and end a game immediately.

I truly hope this rumor proves to be false.

There is one reason that I believe this rumor to be false, however.  It would render the Idoneth High Tide battle trait that they just wrote nearly valueless.

    Two things.

    1) You have a 100 percent accurate rumor source implying the rule is changing.

    2) GW could easily errata the High Tide ability to trump charging units.

I am not offering an opinion on what it would do to the game (I think I would need to test it).  I’m just saying all signs point to a change coming and I think the Idoneth rule could be adapted quite easily.

That only happened for the last couple of editions.  Historically the starter sets have contained the full book.

Now the core rules for both games are only a couple of pages so I expect that the Age of Sigmar starter will have a full book.  The fluff that GW has added to Age of Sigmar actually makes it a pretty interesting setting but way too much of it is locked in highly expensive campaign books.  They really need to compile the main parts of the background into a new core book and I suspect that they will do that with this new starter.

Yeah this is totally right.  I bought the last Realmgate War game book and was blown away by the quality of the background in it, I just wasn't willing to spend the money to get all the rest.  I have high hopes that not only is that stuff included but expanded on in this new book.

I hope so.  Games Workshop has shown some seriously impressive creativity when it comes to both new armies for Age of Sigmar and also adapting older armies into this new setting.  I absolutely love Orcs & Goblins, but Night Goblins are by far my favorite thing GW has created in any of their universes.  While I love what is already there for Moonclan, I am really looking forward to seeing what GW can do with it.  My hope is that they keep a lot of the flavor already in the faction and just expand further upon it - rather than doing a huge make-over.  So, keep the basic hooded goblin that lives underground and hates the sun.

The themes that I would like to see expanded upon are fungus cultivation/use and squigs.  I would like to see more squigs and different types.  In the past, the main place that fungus has fit into the faction is with Fanatics (who are all zonked out on Madcap Mushrooms) and the shaman who can eat dangerous mushrooms for extra spell power.  I would like to see lunatics eating different types of dangerous fungus become more of a theme.  It would be neat to see some sort of hero unit that collects & dispenses different fungus for use in poisons or as buffs to nearby units.  Something that might functionally work a bit like a prayer or something - but be due to handing out mind-bending fungus that does different things to the unit that eats it (probably at the cost of d3 mortal wounds or something).

In David Guymer’s short story, The Sea Taketh, he describes a pretty awesome sounding “Spiderghast Grot” bodyguard that is stoned out of his mind on drugs.

I share that fear as well. It will take quite a few more strong shows of continued support for released factions (like giving Fyreslayers or Ironjaws a second wave) before I have any trust that AoS factions outside Stormcast can expect future support beyond basic rules updates.

That could just as well be Deathrattle. Them not having chariots on their army list does not preclude some having them in the lore. But then again, at the moment, Wight Kings pretty much less interesting Tomb Kings with much more boring armies.

If I remember correctly this sort of small batch release schedule is exactly what people like Atia said would happen pre-End Times.  I can't find it now, most of it was on Warseer I think, but I distinctly remember wondering how it would work out.  I assume that means GW is releasing the basics for new factions and then seeing how they sell before determining which to support later.

    Hehe yes please @LLV !

Also, Teclis is mentioned here because he created the Idoneth Deepkin in Hyish (and speaks in the trailer released at Adepticon) - but he indeed won't be part of this release miniature wise

Oh ok then. I was tracking his connection (impossible to please father), but didn’t know where all the other chatter came from.

Maybe something flying- flying stormcast mounts

I know we are all excited for the Deepkin (my wallet is ready), but can I hear some more about this?! Since I know you know what it is @LLV!

Also, how did Teclis get into the discussion so much? There is no way he’s part of this release.

My only beef with the new geographic homelands of factions in the new world is that they seem too safe. A good setting should have constant threats from enemy factions based in the same geographic setting (e.g. goblins/dwarfs/skaven in mountains).

These underwater elfs just own the entire seabed? The Kharadrons have no sky-based enemy factions? No other lava-dwelling factions for the lava-dwarfs? Does ANYTHING live in the woods anymore?

In Spear of Shadows there is a pretty great scene in the woods, safe to say the woods aren’t really a friendly place with all the spiders around.

    I can't wait anymore.. 9_9

GW first workshop is in about 3 hours..

Does TGA have any spy at GAMA or are we basically expecting an announcement on WH Community?

It looks like two workshops today. The title is getting more from selling GW merch or something like that. Hopefully we get some sweet sweet previews!

Also I forgot GAMA was in Reno and I was real disappointed at 1100 EST at first.

nice video, the DoK seem to have a very interesting backstory. I like the idea of Morathi playing a dangerous game, leading an entire faction into believing they worship Khaine (it's still not very clear to me if Khaine is dead or not. maybe the gods can't really die?) but ulitmately empowering her. It gives us plenty of narrative to keep developing.

Yeah I really like the backstory.  Whether or  not it impacts the gameplay, it certainly makes collecting the army more interesting.  I hope they keep up these types of videos.

Maybe they need some new models but they have one of the biggest ranges. And majority of it are quite new plastic boxes and then there is ET stuff.

I doubt they will get anything unless it's new faction as GW doesn't care Eldar line is majority of units in finecast and much older then any Death model/unit.

The Blood Knights are very, very old.

We keep getting the same things repeated about the “huge” Death range. You even agreed many pages back that Death doesn’t have a huge line of models.

As much as I would like Death models now, I thought I saw a post on the AoS Facebook where the staff said Death was getting new models (though they didn’t say when).  Am I making that up now, or does anyone else have that saved?
