  1. Not really I guess GW can "bundle" Shadowkin(Elves of Uglu) with Slaasnesh in story arc and maybe Slaasnesh will get Elves like Tzeentch got Tzaangors 1-2 units + hero. Also I'm sure (going by all releases) that Shadowkin will use some DE units - my wild guess Witch Elves and Dark Riders.

But what's get tricky were "light" Elves fit into this, I doubt that they will be released along with Shadowkin but Tyrion/Teclis are huge in that Slaasnesh story arc as both Malerion and Tyrion are looking for their people - so I guess those Elves found by them in the end will end up as theirs followers. Some will follow Malerion some Tyrion some both. But I guess they will work together against Choas not against each other. Slaasnesh will corrupt some and they will worshipp him/her and be against both "Shadowkin" and "Light Elves"

  2. I think Shadow Elves are great concept to make them working against Chaos but not really good but mysterious and horror alike. Reminds me a little about Harlequin. And could make them more interesting. What I didn't like about Dark Elves was how cartoonish they were - ultra evil straight in your face. Even High Elves in later fluff were more nuanced then DE. Shadowkin combining horror stuff with wh40k eldar mentality and being mysterious hiding in the shadows working agains Chaos but in general only for their gain would be epic concept. Also would make Aelves who follow Tyrion and Teclis not their enemies but other side of the same coin which could lead to awesome dynamics.

  3. That's easier as they can keep whole story arc releasing two big Battletomes with 3 weeks of releases for each. And on the other hand push more of those kits that they want to sell from existing Elves range (I guess Shadow Warriors/Sisters, Witche Elves, Dark Riders, Eternal Guard, Black Guard Exec etc)

  4. I am fine with Slaaneshh aelves worshippers but I don't think Malerion will be one of them. Idea of Shadowking that I like is very Eldar-alike they would be against Chaos but they will have own agenda. Both Shard and Saih from Silver Tower are able to sacrifice anything to accomplish goals. That's better that straight-up evil Dark Elves.

So I guess we will get two Elves factions (Shadowkin and Light Elves) in GA Order (and maybe even some shared battalions as Tyrion and Malerion were/are working together to save their people and Teclis was working with Malekith even before that) and my wild guess is that Slaasnesh elves will be subfaction in Disciples of Slaasnesh Battletome like Tzaangors are in DoT ( 2-3 units + 2 characters one being Morathi I guess)

That's nice summer release idea :

    - Shadowkin and Light elves Battletome (or even one big Tzeentch alike Aelves Battletome as those Elves that Tyrion and Malerion went after will probably worshipp both them as gods) problem is how many big kits they want to push I guess Malerion and Tyrion/Teclic ( twins could be one kit I guess as Tyrion is using Teclis eyes to see) would be big Alarielle,Nagash alike kits

    - Disciples of Slaanesh Battletome with Elves worhshippers)

The Hammer of Sigmar requires a Thunderhead brotherhood with 4 units of Liberators. The Hallowed Knights require a Lords of the Storm Battalion with at least 6 Heroes.

I don't play Stormcast so question

    - how hard it is to use those 2 battalions ?

  6. I think GW will focus on newer factions going forward then repacking models and releasing them with smaller battletomes. They got quite serious with tournament supoort and balance is quite important and it's hard to balance countless "small" battletomes.  I think Shadowkin for that reason ( and another - GW still want to sell their WFB minis) could be bigger Battletome in DoT vein - maybe they will include a lot "older" kits.

I can see them fitting Witch Elves, Shadow Warriors, Dark Riders, Assassins easily, that's the reason I think for example Eternal Guard models could easily fit with Light Elves

That's why I think GW can release Aelves tome with all other units not used in main factions Battletomes.

  7. And how it special save againts magic work with spells with area of effect ?

It all depends how expensive are those Battalions if you got to pay 200-300 tax it's not that great but looks like Stormcast get nice boost anyway along with proper pricing ! Good job GW (and I dislike Stormcast Eternals a lot)

  8. Maybe yes It depends what kind of theme they want to follow but I doubt they will use more then 3 older units and looking at aesthetics Witch Aelves and Shadow Warriors/Sisters look very similar to Saih and Shard. Maybe add Dark Riders + 2 new units , but it would push Shadowkin almost into DoT territory regarding number of units and kits.

Also fluff wise Tyrion/Teclis are more connected with Slaanesh then Malerion, they all went after him looking for their people but it's said that Twins captured him. My wild guess is that Twins captured him freeing Aelves and then Malerion holds him captive in Uglu (that why Slaanesh demons look for him there) But to make it one story arc they would have to release Shadowkin, Slaanesh and then Light Elves who knows ?

  9. I think any release will use some older kits

with Shadowkin I suspect Witch Elves are quite easy go and then maybe Shadow Warriors/Sisters (or Corsairs) which makes perfect sens as both units are quite similar to Mistweaver and Shard

I guess going by GW release policy get :

    Malerion as big kit monster

some monster/monster hero - Morathi, maybe some kind of new monster

heroes - Mistweaver,Saih and maybe something new

    New battleline (possibly dual kit)

    Witch Elves + Shadow Warriors

Some bigger elite unit - some kind of cavalery.

So : 2 leaders/behemots, 3 leaders, 6 units ( with new unit being possibly a dual kit and Witch Elves+Shadow Warriors) , new "bigger" elite unit.  Some very much DoT and Sylvaneth alike.

Honestly, that another Stormcast update just discourages me from buying them and a bit dispirits me from AoS as a game. I will repeat it once again - I don't like the concept of one super faction and other minor. Some factins are screaming for an update. Many of us still wait for new Aelves and Duardin. They want more Stormcasts? OK, do them. 2020 will be about ok.

I get your point and would love elves more than anything (I have been HE player for 15 years and would love new "light" Elves with Tyrion/Teclis) but GW clearly with GH and Sylvaneth changed their policy regarding matched play, tournaments etc and Stormcast must be a part of it (and I hate their fluff and design). So far we got Sylvaneth and Tzeentch as proper "standalone" Battletomes, Destruction got one with Beastclaw Riders (but it's small battletome). So if GW releases lets say Duardin and Shadowkin by end of summer ( they are long rumored) and some Death&Destruction it would nicely balance number of proper Battletomes for each GA :

Order : Sylvaneth, Stormcast,Shadowkin,Duardin - it's possible Elves and Dwarfs are one of the most popular factions and Stormcast are Stormast

Chaos : Disciples of Tzeentch, Disciples of Slaneshh ( to release Slaneesh along with Shadowkin makes all sense considering fluff and their Disciples of Tzeentch-Stormcast release policy + easy to release with 40k as well)

Destruction : Beastclaw Riders, new Battletome (maybe released with Duardin - again makes sense)

Death : new Battletome (maybe with option to make 2-3 armies like Arcanites and Demons in DoT)

That would mena 5 more Battletomes in 2017 - it's possible.
