I’m considering getting some khorne daemons for AOS but also usable in 40K. What do I get?
A typical daemon list is going to be 3 or maybe 4 bloodthirsters. Usually a rage thirster, Skarbrand and then one of each of the others.
Flesh hounds are ‘decent’ battleline and you may also want skulltaker and a blob of bloodletters.
Daemon prince is decent to add as he has a good aura i.e., halve run and charge in 18” radius

Next to 27.3.4:
That's the "unless noted otherwise" part from 27.3.1
Ahh that’s useful to know for my other armies. I assumed spell lores as an enhancement could not be given to a unique model. Damn my sons seraphon w Kroak just got better haha

Request for input from the hive mind. I normally play blades of Khorne mortals but have a lot of Khorne marked slaves as a result. Earlier this week I played an intro game at 1500 points vs nighthaunt using Khorne slaves in an idolators list, brand new allegiance and sub faction.
It felt like a huge uphill battle, not helped by the scenario - tectonic shift and going second. I just didn’t feel I could shift him off objectives. Now it was a new list and allegiance abilities so definately lessons there, but I did like bits of eg the big hero priest. So want to try it some more.
But how should I build this to 2k. What should be removed or added.
mall Khorne marked where applicable
idolator lord on gorebeast chariot
daemon prince of khorne
warshrine of khorne
chaos lord on manticore
chaos warriors 10 - sword and shield
Chaos knights ensorc weapons 2x5
khargas ravagers (I know)
8 fold doom sigil
any help appreciated. I have a lot of mortal Khorne I can fold in if needed.

I’ve been reading the rules as uniques don’t get enhancements, that includes spells, which are considered to be an enhancement. Happy to be wrong though, we have kroak in another army we own

If flamey sword guy isn’t called something along the lines of sturm brightblade then a bit of my childhood will have just died
Yes I know he didn’t ride a dragon but he was heroic enough to be called by Sigmar across IPs

It’s still -2 rend for them even in the new rules.

I just got 10 chaos knights so want get them painted up and also some Rohan foot troops for war of the ring. Will be tricky as it is holiday month and also summer hols so kids are home a lot and we’ll be doing things.

I think we have really had the rug pulled from under us in 3.0. It’s not going to be easy to play Khorne, especially mortals. Saying that I don’t feel it’s the end and there are options, but as said above it may be easier with other armies and less of a mind melter. I am still going to persist with the army for fun playing

No you dont get one artefact per battalion. Those are old rules. Only Command Entourage and Warlord battalions grant an extra enhancement. Vanguard grants a once per battle reroll charge or auto run 6 for the units in the battalion.
Ah sorry that’s a typo In my post that missed. I have written vanguard twice above. I used the battalions that gave an artefact each ie warlord and command entourage. Sorry that’s my typo. Everything else is right. I am not sure I would take the third artefact as I kept forgetting the impact of MoS.
One thing I was reflecting on, the Bloodsecrator being stuck is not mobile and several units on the flanks were out of his bubble of +1 attacks so getting some more attack buffs would b e good for flexibility and / or putting the alter eitherto one side so a flank and center are better covered.
Somethingn else which struck me after the event is the usefulness of a reinforced unit of bloodreavers. Their job is to regain control of an objective especially in these days of MSU. Just by sheer weight of numbers, whip em up and onto a contested objective. It helped in my game to hold the 10 reavers in reserve for this job. They are our cheapest way of doing it. So a unit of 20 may be a valuable addition.

@Praecautus close games a good game! Good to hear the a Berzerker Lord Bloodsecrator in the altar is hard to kill as Im leaning that way too. Did he survive the battle?
Looking over your list and I was wondering if you had an extra artifact? Banner of Wraith, Gorecleaver and Mark of the Slayer is 3 but your battalions (Command Entourage and 2 x Vanguard) only allowed for 2. Am I missing something?
Yes, 3 artefacts. You get 1 artefact, spell and prayer for free before battalions and then 1 enhancement for each of the battalions. Unless I misread something?
yes the general survived but it was close, at the end of the very first turn he was on 1 ho prior to being able to garrison but the heal hero ability got him to full ho in 2 turns.

So I had my battle tonight, using the list above. It was against dominion stormcast and a star stake. On points I lost by a single VP at end of turn 5
Overall i fares better than I expected. I learnt a lot
The battle tactics and grand strategies are really important to play well and will get you a lot of vp even if objectives are gone.
Bloodsecrator in alter w bezerker lord is hard to kill.
Wrathmongers did really well, their explode into MW on death is a godsend. I may up from unit to 2 or 3 units lol.
Coherency is painful and nullifies a lot of hitting power
10 chaos warriors are ok
akull reapers were expensive
pronces run and charge debuff is really useful, I kept forgetting Mark of the slayer
Manticore lord is still ok
i never got to use curse, blood boil was more useful

Get the shrine - I think knights with ensorcelled weapons might be ok as an anvil without much support(not tried it) but to make lances work (in my, albeit limited, experience) you need the mounted Lord (for CA) and warshrine, plus something to stop them getting charged first (I.e. chaff or Daemon Prince CA). Plus the shrine gives a ward save, is ok in combat, has totem keyword, and has a big base to help with board control….
I have the shrine already along with a lot of other Khorne slaves, and keen to het it back to the table. I do have a kitbashed lord on daemon mount but do need to get the krakadrak lord as he is the business

Yeah, I really dig this combo. It makes them something to be concerned about, and they are such good value otherwise. Chaos Knights are my main beneficiaries for Curse, but if a unit of doggies can do another 3-4MWs, that's gold.
I just ordered 10 knights to add in to my list with the intention they combine with curse. I am contemplating a warshrine too, either as a vehicle for curse or for the reroll hits to go fishing for 6s. Essentially turning them into faster cheaper skullreapers.
I think I’ll be arming them with lances

More of a S2D question but I have a khorne calv. list with some knights, and interested in marauder horsemen. Their speed, feign ability and 2"/9" spears seem like an impressive utility unit.
Ive read about lots of movement and hold shenanigans in the wider game (lumineth) and curious if horsemen can punch above their weight, and act as effective screen for knights/skullcrushers, or should get some furies or so.
There is good value in Khorne slaves. The horses bring a fair few benefits we don’t normally have.
I would def also add in a lord on krakadrak for the knights of chaos ability and some of our attack buffs to get more from them.
they also give us unleash hell which is useful

I agree, it's good to try out the smorgasboard to see who can do what successfully. You have a good variety pack of units. I'm curious to see how Wrathmongers and Skullreapers fare; the Wrathmongers are looking good at units of 10 I think these days with their 2" reach but those models always get all tangled up on me with the chains. Never tried swinging around a sledgehammer head welded to a chain before. That might be cool to try!
I think skull reapers will still be ok, just expensive. I am planning to replace with slave knights to free up 35 points a unit.
The wrathmongers should be fun w curse an skarr. Curse the target and attack, plus pile in w Skarr to benefit from curse again.
Daekon prince will allow them to reroll hits of 1.
Blood secrator will be a danger thing with the wrath banner, people will need to hack through the chaos warrior body guard and then his 3+ with a ward of 5+. I can stick him in the alter too. Every combat round he will pump out MW
everything else just needs to die

I have a whole stuff of things to summon if needed. Feels odd only 1 priest and no sacrifice. But seeing it as a first lesson in 3.0, mortals in an odd place
-
Got my first 3.0 battle on Monday. Not sure what I am up against, possibly stormcast including stuff from dominion. So the first group of models sent to die will be
Blood secrator, general, bezerker lord, banner of wrath
Chaos lord on manticore, gorecleaver on lance
daemon prince, Mark of the slayer
slaughterpriest, curse
blood stoker Skarr bloodwrath
Fleshhounds 5
flesh hounds 5
blood reavers 10
chaos warriors 10
skull reapers 5
skull reapers 5
wrathmongers 5
chaos spawn
alter
using vanguard, command entourage and vanguard battalions
I am treating this one as a learning experience
pics of the slaughter to follow

I tried a little experiment with Cursing, using my 20 Bloodwarriors as a big unit, seeing how tanky they'd be vs a Gatebreaker Megagargant. Didn't turn out so well for the Bloodwarriors, as they only got 10 guys base to base for 30 attacks, and then not even with with their 24 attacks for getting slain (only 5 MW on the MegaG). Guess my old dice don't roll 6s very well 😛 The Gorefists don't do well vs high damage attack enemies of course, but vs something like Plague Monks they'd get way more MW in return.
Perhaps a Gatebreaker isn't the most fair test of this. I think a unit of 10 Wrathmongers though might have more legs. They get what, 4 attacks each? At 2" range though so all could be hitting theoretically if positioned ideally.
How were your reavers built? I am wondering if with curse that double axes may be better to reroll the 1s and hopefully get a few more 6s.
Slaves may be even better as they can get reroll all hits, although that’s then 2 buffing units 1 for curse and 1 for reroll
-
The talk of curse maxes me want to dig out the shrine. It’s more survivable than a priest so can be sent right to the front line. There it can better support those lovely buffed up knights. At least that is my thinking
-
So one thing I realised today. The daemon prince can garrison in a skull alter. Making the range of his run debuff even bigger as you measure from the base of the building. Pretty handy.
-
Axes with rend for reavers
Gorefists for warriors

So playing around with a mortal list of blades plus Khorne slaves. Think ii quite like this although I won’t be winning any drop wars. Ithink goretide and need to sort battalions
Bloodsecrator - general, banner of wrath
Lord on krakadrak - thronebreakers
Daemon prince of khorne
Priest - sacrifice
Skarr
Blood stoker
Reavers 10
Flesh hounds 5
blood warriors 10
chaos knights 5
chaos knights 5
chais warriors 10
wrath mongers 5
magores fiends and Riptooth
Skull alter
Hex skulls
1980 if I added it up right
I may do some juggling about to fit in a monster (slaughterbrute?) there is flex in the battle line and magores to free the points to do so and or change a leader to a second priest with curse or even a warshrine instead and drop the main priest
I can certainly build a few battalions with it and then modify over next few games.
But appreciate the hive mind thoughts

No problem. I am no expert with the bloodthirster type list but I am sure someone more knowledgeable will chip in
For AoS you would also need a mortal Bloodsecrator to buff attacks and a priest for some useful buffs.
