  1. I have currently 60 gitmob grots with bows and 20 with sword and board, all re-based on rounds.  I would like to use them as Moonclan, but obviously have no netters.  All but 20 are metal and those I have that are not re-based are metal.  Does anyone have any suggestions on how I could turn 12 old grots into netters and what to use for netting?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I have some old metal fanatics that I could cut the ball off the chain and attach net to it, but i only have 4 of them.  I know it sounds like sacrilege, but I bought them new and I'm not going to sell them - I would like to give them a new life.

He will be much better when I extend his legs a bit and then cover his back & head with crazy giant mushrooms.

In the lore, Dankhold Troggoths change size to fit their environment - so any size between Mollog and the standard Troggboss should be perfectly acceptable.  It just needs to look imposing enough to be a boss.

  3. It could be the opening of the Great Oubliette beneath Nagashizzar, and it could be Nagash regretting his actions as they have led to this.  It is possible that, besides great heroes and villains of legend, the Great Oubliette contained some of the old Gods of Death that Nagash was unable to fully destroy or subsume, and if so then His reign as THE God of Death will no longer be undisputed.

It will likely be comparing Dwarves of WHFB to the Kharadron Overlords in how different they are.  I think to an extent they want them to BARELY look like Aelves for copywrite purposes, but I don't think they will take it too far.

Like Idoneth and the reborn Daughters, the souls have come from the belly of Slaanesh so change is inevitable from a lore perspective as well.  They have to be recognisable as Aelves as they are Aelven souls, but how they will differ is anybody's guess.  Fortunately, we all seem to like guessing :).

  5. The artwork for Hysh in the core rulebook does appear to have winged beings in it, so actual feathered winged Aelves is not out of the question.  It would be nice if it was slightly more left field than that.  However, you can't change Aelven appearance too much; there comes a point where they would no longer be Aelves.  I can imagine them being larger than standard Aelves, say on a height level with Brutes but retaining the slim graceful shape, maybe some even larger, with their Aelven features accentuated to a sharper level to give them a more alien, crystalline feel.  The larger models would allow for greater distinction in the features, whilst still retaining their Aelvishness.  They've proved with Allariele that they can scale up the Aelven form (with wings).

Yeah lol, I thought about taking it with Big G.

    1. Cast Cauldron
    2. Use shrooms
    3. Use Voice of Gork
    4. Hand of Gork the Troggs
    5. 3d6" charge and each Trogg has 4 attacks!

    So filthy haha

If you could just squeeze a Troggherd in there . . . .

  7. I've been considering taking a Madcap Shaman and 6 Rockgut Troggoth's for 400 points and 50 points for the Arachnacauldron (as endless spells don't count as allies points).  Allows you to teleport either Troggoths or Shaman and gives you access to other nice spells, such as Itchy Nuisance.   I would rather take the Fungoid, but would then be limited to 3 Troggoths and not sure if 3 would be enough.

However you don't update a faction by pulling all it's models. I've gone the other way, I fear this is the end for us...

I refuse to be despondent.  I think it is unlikely that they would close a faction with allegiance abilities in the GHB.  All the other kits are still available on GW's official site.  Perhaps they are holding back models to ensure availability once a battletome is released to avoid the demand issues following the Gloomspite Gitz release (I had to wait several weeks for my Fellwater Troggoths).  I think we ought to remain positive for the moment, stay calm and await further information.

  9. Ever since the Glade Guard became no longer available, I've been on tenterhooks.  I am trying very hard not to read too much into it and get over-excited. Still, it's difficult not to speculate that something is in the wings.  After all, they did say that some classic factions would get up-dated.

not exactly, BoC was leaked but it was suppose to have been reveal at Nova last year. that why it felt like it was release out of no where.

and they did hinted of a BoC release with hammerhall herald before hand so it didn't come out of the blue

That's true, it wasn't completely out of the blue, I stand corrected.  It didn't, though, have the more overt practices, such as  teaser videos, that are the usual precursors to the release of a new Battletome, so it felt as though it it did.

  11. Well, the  Beasts of Chaos Battletome came completely out of the blue without any hints or rumours, so it's perfectly possible for GW to do it again with another classic faction.  As a Wanderers player, though, I am trying very hard to be neither excited nor despondent - ohhhmmm.

I would like it of the ability to summon wyldwoods and be immune to them was shared.. or even if we had to put a command ability into it to get on of those abilities... allying in a lot of sylvaneth is pointless without decent access to wyldwoods.

When AOS first came out, we had a battalion that gave Wanderers the ability to ignore damage from terrain on a 4+.  They could bring that back.  Alternatively, if we had different tribes, one could have returned to ally with the Sylvaneth and benefit from Wyldwood rules as a result.  Being able to summon and use Wyldwoods would be nice - I simply would rather not have to give up our independent identity in order to achieve it.

My personal wish: New Sylvaneth BT coming with Wanderers included.

Wouldn’t be totally impossible, a Sylvaneth warband for Underworlds is coming. It would make sense to include Wanderers with Sylvaneth again, and this sold out thing is because of a repackaging of them.

I hope they don't combine Wanderers with Sylvaneth.  The lore has moved on and we have our own path to tread.  My wish would be for their own stand-alone Battletome.  I wouldn't mind if Kurnoth turned up as a Lord of the Forest Demigod (a sort of Herne or Green Man), which would give some connection to the Sylvaneth.  They could even include a combined Battalion.

I also have a feeling that a lot of Sylvaneth players wouldn't be too happy either.

Of course, if they do I will embrace it.  After all, it will mean we have a book and, if recent books are anything to go by, you'd probably be able to field pure Wanderers within it should you so wish.

IMO the vast majority of players won't even know there IS a separate gitmob warscroll. As long as you aren't putting down one as shootas and one as gitmob archers then it's going to be clear what they are.

Points per wound wise they are the best unit in destruction at 5? Compare them to a squig herd, the closest appropriate equivalent, and factor in a small cost reduction for the 6+ save.

    • 5 p/w for snotlings and around 5.5 for Squigs.
    • Snotlings are 10" of space coverage for 80 compared to 8" of space coverage for the 70 of squigs.
    • The 10 Bravery is amazing as you have to lose 4 bases before you battleshock compared to squigs who battleshock super easily.

Honestly 2 units of 4 seem pretty reasonable, it gives you a really cheap expendable screen which can't be easily dealt with using low resources, which is especially valuable with how low wound count Dankhold armies generally are not to mention giving you a set of cheap units to just deny deepstrikes and/or hold objectives.

The biggest weakness would be how it increases your drop count, so that depends on where you're sat at the moment. Going from 4 to 6 is a giant leap, similarly 9 to 11. Going 5/6 to 9 is very minor in comparison. With that in mind i'd say 4-2-2 with your 8 bases if you can spare the drops?

Thanks for the feedback!   The Snotlings seemed like a not-completely-daft idea, but it's good to have a second opinion.  I was intending to use the battalion to reduce drops, so that plus the Hag would be 4-5 drops, depending on whether I go 2 units of 4, or 4-2-2.  I suspect, though that 4 drops is a lot better than 5 on the whole.  I also thought it would look nice having the biggest and smallest on the table at the same time (The Bonegrinder will stay in the fanciful notions pigeon hole for the time being).

I was planning to run 2 units of 8 (or 6-6-4 to avoid battleshock), which theoretically screen off the first 20" of my side of the table (at least from teleport shennanigans).  Unfortunately, I can't find the rest of the little devils, so that idea will have to wait a while.

You're right about the Grots; I won't be running both sorts at the same time, so they can be Gitmob allies to my Ironjaws and Shootas with my Gitz.

It's also nice to know that others have enough love for the old Goblins to spend time re-basing them and giving them life in the new world.   This new book has made me a happy man just by it's existence, irrespective of how competitive it might be.

I've got ~25 shooters and ~60 stabbas to paint. I have my 20 gitmob archers with another 40 to paint that I intend to use as shootas.

Yes, I've been wondering whether to use them as Shootas ( 60 are with bows ), but wasn't sure if that would be seen as proxying or not.  At the moment they still work well as Gitmob allies and until GW decide their fate, I'm undecided.

I do have 8 bases of Snotlings now on 50mm rounds ( been doing quite a lot of re-basing!) and have been thinking of taking them in 4 units of 2, or 2 units of 4, to act as screens for my Troggoths.  They are 4 wounds a base, bravery 10, 160 points for 8 - any thoughts?

I can easily see a tournament winning gloomspite list once people get then painted/get good with them.

To be honest, any of the last half dozen or so Battletomes are capable of tournament-winning lists, steered by the right General, and I agree that the Gitz are no exception.  Given the scarcity of models at the moment and the amount of painting required, it might be a while before we see one though.  Good to hear that Rockguts are performing well (having just painted my first three), although 2 taking down a VLOZD seems like a feat that won't occur very often ( great fun when it does!).

As all of my Grots are Gitmob, I will have to content myself with mixed Destruction armies while I build a Troggherd.  Not sure I want to paint another horde of Grots at the moment - just re-based 80 Gitmob (the rest can wait) :).

Sorry, you can't put ANY hags in a troggherd. Since the battalion doesn't use keyword bold the units in it have to have the exact warscroll name not the correct keywords.

Thanks, forgot about the bold thing.  That means no Bonegrinder in the Battalion either - oh well.  At least they can both be in the army, so all is not lost.

You can, it's not unique, just can't put more than one in a troggherd. Same with the hag.

Why can't you put more than one Hag in a Troggherd?  She fits the Fellwater Troggoth criteria and isn't unique, so in theory you could take multiples.

Also, has anyone considered taking the Bonegrinder Giant in a Troggherd?  The thought of A Trogboss, Hag and Bonegrinder all together is sort of appealing.  It's 1080 points, but that leaves plenty for your battleline.

This is my list for 1k that I have been running.

    Troggboss  (300)

    Pulverising Grip

    Glowy Howzit

    Madcap Shaman (80)

    The Hand of Gork

    3  Fellwater (160)

    3 Fellwater (160)

    3 Rockgut (160)

    20 Shootas (130)

    990/100

I have a tournament coming up in one week any ideas to make it better would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

You could upgrade the Madcap to a Fungoid Cave-shaman.  Unless you prefer the Madcap's spell, The Fungoid is just better for 10 points more.

I don't think the idea is supposed to be that the Wanderers teleport via the leylines. They just navigate using them, leading them to places others don't know about. It's basically google maps that only those with 'witch-sight' (wizards?) can see.

Their allegiance ability isn't a literal teleport, it's described as the Wanderers using hidden paths - stealth rather than magic. Keep in mind they have to go off the edge of the battlefield to use it, so the idea is they're going off through a secret shortcut. That's my interpretation at least.

IMO if the Wanderers had a non-Realmgate means of teleporting between Realms, that would be a huge, huge deal in the lore that every alliance would be fighting over, not a little footnote in the core book. As it stands, Realmgates are basically the most important strategic resource in the setting,

I was using the word teleport as shorthand for how they can jump around the table.  It wasn't meant to be taken literally, sorry.  Very few of these special moves that factions have are teleporting, but the word does get used to describe them, so I was a bit lazy.  I agree that Wanderers physically travel the paths, but the net effect, just like the skaven, or Sylvaneth,  has the effect of teleporting for in-game purposes.
